It took a while but I finally got around to finishing up this handy guide thingy on my 2 weeks trip to USA. This was actually a family trip to visit a relative of mine over at Sunnyvale, California. It's been about a decade since our last visit and since we're going all the way there again, we might as well join a one week tour around the west coast first. Sadly I didn't have any time to sketch during this vacation so I just reused my old sketch at the bottom so that this have some sort of drawing in it and not just photos. Just follow the numbers and the descriptions below:-
(1) The Flight There
The 18+ hours flight was exhausting...not to mention boring. Worse is when I got there, it was a 14 hours time zone different.
(2) Los Angelas
The city of angels...or more famously known that city that was saved multiple times by Jack Bauer. The 2 days tour here basically consists of going to only two places, Universal Studios (2a) and Disneyland Resort (2b). Both were still fun places although they seems a lot smaller than I remember them being since my last visit. Sadly 'Splash Mountain' at Disneyland was close during that day. As a consolation, at least the 'It's a Small World' ride was close as well.
(3) Las Vegas
After that it was the tour bus ride to Las Vegas. The night tour of the city was very pretty (3a) and since we were here, we decided to catch a show. We ended up watching 'Cirque Du Soleil - The Beatles Love'. Pricey, but worth it. And I didn't even gamble or drink at all while in Las Vegas...strangely.
The next day the tour took us to the west side of Grand Canyon (3b). Yup, it sure was a beautiful sight. I even got to see Hoover Dam along the way, a very important stronghold when the fallout hits us in the future.
(4) Las Vegas to San Francisco
After a night sleep in Las Vegas, it was back to Los Angelas before heading north towards San Francisco. But along the way, we stopped at Solvang (4a), a small Danish town as well as take a tour in Hearst Castle (4b). I don't really get that castle, it doesn't have any real historic value other than some really famous rich person build it as a summer vacation mansion or something. It's still impressive though. But I suppose all tour buses going between Los Angelas and San Francisco have to visit this two places.
(5) San Francisco
Once we got to San Francisco, there was many places to see like the Golden Gate Bridge (5a), Fisherman's Wharf (5b)(they have good clam chowder over there), the city hall (5c) as well as twin peaks. Sweet.
The tour finally ended and we got to go to Sunnyvale to spent time with our relative for the next week. During that time he took us to many places like the Winchester Mystery House (5d)(the most bizzare mansion built by the widow of William Wirt Winchester), Monterey Bay Aquarium (best aquarium I ever been to with cute otters and penguins) and the Miur Woods (5e)(giant redwood trees!!!).
He even took us out to a lot of fine dining. It beats all those Taco Bell and Panda Express we had be going during the tour. Plus we got some time to do shopping. Strangely I didn't buy all that much stuff although I did buy this sweet Lego Ninjago Ice Dragon since I never seen this before back in my country. It's been decades since I bought Lego so I don't get this Ninjago brand...or why Ninjas are riding dragons to fight undead skeleton ninjas with jester hats. The Lego storyline is pretty weird.
All in all, a really good week indeed in Sunnyvale.
(6) The Flight Back
Another 18+ hours of flight back home. Well, at least I got to finally watch 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' (it's hilariously silly) and kill 90 minutes.
Good, now that this is done...back to drawing stuff I guess :3

I did a similar trip 13 months ago and was also quite overwhelmed with all that impressions. Really cool to visit.
We also went to the Monterey Aquarium, that thing is huge and great. I loved the waterfall-'Tunnel' :)
Strage Lego-creature... but wait, do I see a chain in there? :)
