TL;DR I wanna cram Remy’s soul into a chameleon guy so I made a chameleon guy he’s from an RPG and can turn into a statue at will I think he’s cool
Ok so I posted recently about how I wanted to do a body swap between Remy and Flick, the chameleon from Animal Crossing, and make it canonically permanent. And I still love that idea a lot, but I got to thinking about some changes I wanted to make to Flick to seperate him a bit from the source material, at which point I thought “wait. Why don’t I just make my own chameleon?”
So this is a mock-up I, uh, mocked up really quickly (inbetween helping care for my siblings while their dad is in hospital, so I didn’t get a lot of time) for a chameleon sona!
A bit about the idea:
Saber (the name I’m most leaning towards right now) is a thief from a popular turn based RPG in Remy’s world, in which a party of heroes - led by a warrior who initially was journeying to free his friend’s soul from a crystal ball - is tasked with the saving the worl from a yet-unidentified evil force.
Saber’s a roguish, cunning chameleon who is mostly concerned with the pursuit of riches and powerful trinkets, almost always acquired in illegitimate ways. He crosses paths with the party at some point is forced to tag along for one reason or another, but only really wants to tag along because the place they’re headed to is said to contain untold riches and power, and really, all this lizard wants to do is become powerful and have a lot of shinies. That’s not too much to ask, right?
He has a few abilities. As a chameleon, he obviously has a long tongue, which he uses to snatch things from afar, attack enemies and swing across gaps. His prehensile tail’s quite thick and has retractable spikes, which he swings at enemies as well, and of course he can scale walls - what self-respecting lizard wouldn’t be able to do that?
His Static Daggers, which he dual-wields, have a small chance of paralysing his foes.
He /does/ have the ability to camouflage and change the colour of his scales, but for whatever reason he’s simply not very good at it. It only ever seems to work properly when holding his breath, which is annoying.
Hence, he relies on his most iconic ability - stoneshifting! Saber can transform himself either partially or fully into a statue at will, and of course, turn back at will too. Partial statue mode is useful in many ways, eg. turning his tail to stone for a powerful tail lash attack, or turning his head to stone in situations where breathing is not recommended. Going full statue mode is most useful for stealth, turning into a statue and perching atop pedestals or roofs to blend in with the environment (this seems to create an illusionary effect that tricks weaker minds into believing Saber was always there.)
(As an aside, I’m tossing up whether I want stoneshifting to have a downside - in the image I write that spending an hour or more in statue mode leaves him stuck, and someone will have to sprinkle basilisk venom, the game’s petrification cure, on him to free him. But I also like the idea of him being really comfy with statue mode, and perhaps even turning into a statue at night instead of sleeping? Also he/it cause of this?)
Now obviously the goal is to cram Remy’s soul into that body. This is a convoluted way of making Remy into a chameleon while still having the raccoon form around/acknowledged (I love Remy as is, and I don’t wanna change how they appear on YouTube (for now), but I have always vibed with lizards a little more).
Hence, like my Remy/Flick idea before, Remy will be sucked into the game and sealed inside Saber’s body, and vice versa, with Saber inside Remy’s body in the real world. They most likely spend several months, maybe upwards of a year like this, before Remy’s pulled back to the real world but for whatever reason the swap doesn’t revert, and now their default form is that of a scaly critter. (Not sure what happens to Saber in Remy’s body but at the moment I’m vibing with him getting “Remy” in a lot of trouble somehow mwehehe).
There’s maybe also potential for some of my other dorks to get sucked into the game and take the place of other party members until they escape? But either way, in the meantime, Remy spends a long time in the game and is subject to a lot of RPG-inspired shenanigans. Lots of possibilities! Polymorphs! Cursed equipment! Kinky status ailments! All sorts of weird, silly ways of getting stuck in or as things! >:3c
Anyway sorry for the ramble lmao I don’t know how to be concise but yeah Remy’s gonna be a lizard soon :3
Oh uh let’s see. Uh I dunno random stuff:
Height: 5’3”. Short :3
Age: mid-20’s
Sexuality: no idea yet. Saber doesn’t get a romance plot in the game
Pronouns: he/him probably?
Class: thief
Equippable weapons: sword, dagger, bow, crossbow, whip, hammer
HP: 40
MP: 37
Strength: 60
Resilience: 39
Magic: 42
Spirit: 34
Agility: 89
Luck: 92
Signature abilities:
- Steal: steals an item from the enemy using his tongue. Rarer items are acquired with a higher Luck stat
- Tail Lash: an attack that damages everyone in the front row
- Sticky Tongue: significantly lowers an enemy’s evasion. Very useful for flying enemies with high evasion
- Statue Mode: takes the form of a statue to nullify all damage received for the next two turns, but cannot act during this time
- Hard Headed: turns his head to stone to nullify all gaseous attacks eg. those that may inflict sleep, infatuate or brainwash. (This also self-inflicts Silence for the duration, which means no spell-casting)
- Camouflage: raises own evasion significantly for three turns

i'd say he knows about the issue with his statue form and carries plenty, but he finds it more relaxing than sleeping, so at night, rigs something to drop a little on him in the morning, so he regularly is found on the eastern side of the building by a window, with a magnifying glass and a string pulley set up to burn the string and dump a bit of the venom on him.
