The leader of the most brazen band of bandits, Oda's gang's stronghold is precariously close to New Hope in the heart of the Coalition. There they strike it big by raiding supply and merchant caravans, kidnapping and ransoming people and blackmailing any suspicious individuals they manage get dirt on. Though despite being lawless criminals, Oda himself and by extension his gang hold tightly onto their own moral code, they avoid unnecessary harm, they don't take from people who are already struggling and they don't cooperate with any criminal organization more ruthless than they are. With his strict enforcement of these rules on both his own people as well as any other bandit gangs that try to encroach on their turf, Oda is enacting a strange kind of vigilante justice on the region, and making sure the people exploited by the Coalition don't have to deal with even more suffering.
Despite these seemingly noble qualities about him Oda tries his best to strike fear into everyone who comes face to face with him. He's loud, stubborn, confrontational, and with the help of his Blessing Oda makes sure he'll always be towering over anyone he has to deal with. Oda will always shove his face into danger and prefers to let his fists do the talking, but rarely if ever holds a grudge. And after the fists have had their chance to talk he often becomes more chummy and friendly with people, revealing a bit of his kind nature beneath all the pompous bravado.
Oda has the Blessing of Mass, able to manipulate his own size and density at will. He can grow as big as he wants, as long as his surroundings allow it, or increase his density and weight to become unmovable and near impervious to attacks without a change in size. Theoretically Oda could also shrink in size for more tactical applications, but with his pride he furiously refuses to even entertain the thought. With proper use of his abilities Oda can be a fearful opponent in hand-to-hand combat, but such changes to ones physiology take a toll on their metabolism, giving Oda a ravenous appetite.
Heh, and here we go with another new character design, this time a minor antagonist, occasional antihero and all time jovial character who's going to be a blast to write about, the big man Oda. It was fun to finally put the ideas I had for him onto paper, though it also posed some problems since my art style isn't really cut out for depicting the tough strong guy archetype. But heh, I did my best and I'm happy with the outcome, and equally happy I managed to nail down yet another of the many characters thought up for my story setting. Next up is going to be one vile henchcat~
(I'm also sticking to these digitally coloured pencil sketches for the character designs, as they're easy to work with and fit the tone of the setting, but don't worry, I'm going to be returning to fully traditional arts eventually)
