Overview:
Despite her tough exterior and her species, Carissa is actually a very peaceful soul who is very relaxed as she was raised in a strict household. As she struggled through life to get to where she is at, she is very humble as during the EWBA offseason, she is still willing to work a normal job as either a fast-food employee or a theme park ride operator as she still wants to give back to her community. She is also willing to take a loss as well with grace.

She is also a strong outlier from the rest of her family who are very strong conservatives who sympathize more with the Cronex, as Carissa wants to co-exist with reptiles and even learn more about their culture, hence was why she decided to wear dreads. She often hung out with Tiffany in secret when they used to be in high school together, instead of the friends her father picked for her who are all cats/wolves. Being now disowned by her parents due to siding more with the reptiles than the Cronex regime, Carissa now sees the Zeolas as her true family, with Tiffany being like a sister to her.

Carissa is also very adventurous and carefree despite her status as a celebrity, wanting to explore Empire City under a disguise and meet new people in order to see the city inside-and-out.

People of Interest-
Tiffany Zeola - Her best friend who she sees as a sister, especially after being disowned by her parents for views they are against. Tiffany and Carissa became friends around freshman year of high school when she offered to teach the panther how to swim for the swim unit during P.E, so that she doesn't look out of place. The two also went to Empire State University together.

Cole Marlowe - Her father who is of Cronex descent, who was born in Saraxia from an oil tycoon father. Being of the older generation, Cole had very outdated views that were blatantly racist and xenophobic towards the reptiles he lives amongst, as well as blatant homophobia as well which made Carissa very uncomfortable. Despite being blood-related, Carissa never felt safe with her father because of her closeted sexuality. When the family moved to Emrovia, Carissa secretly hung out with reptiles out of curiosity and made great friends with Tiffany Zeola. When she restyled herself to wear dreads and wore more tomboyish clothing, Cole got furious and spiteful. By the time she graduated, Cole immediately kicked her out of their home.

Monica Marlowe - Her mother who Carissa loved more than her father though she was subservient to her husband and was afraid of speaking up because of how terrified she was of Cole's temper. Ultimately, Carissa felt betrayed by her mother for not standing up to Cole when he kicked her out and disowned her.

Reese Marlow- Her brother who was the only member of her family who truly cared for her and was much more tolerant of her lifestyle and beliefs. Reese was a very fun individual who always enjoyed a good time and played high school football for the pure enjoyment of it. However, he decided to volunteer for the Emrovian Marine Corps to serve his country, giving up his dream career to do so. He was tragically killed in combat.

James Bristol - Is a very close friend of hers who helped her grieve her brother who was killed during the Emrovian invasion of Vhendyr. In a way, his personality also reminds Carissa of her brothers', which made her very close to him. She wanted to join the Forest Company to avenge her brother, but ultimately she learned that revenge is not the way so she focused on her basketball career. She does let the Bristols and Zeolas hang out at her house though.



Impairments:
- Has a fear of the deep ocean as well as any body of water that is over 25 meters. Despite being a good swimmer, she is hesitant in diving underwater.

- Her want to work a "normal" job during the EWBA offseason can be a detriment to her training, preventing her from being the very best she can be as a player.

- Even though she is a solid basketball player during the regular season, she gets nervous and anxious during the playoffs if her team made it, leading to choking during the first round and losing.

Backstory:
Carissa Marlowe was born to business man Cole and hotel receptionist Monica in Rayzra, Saraxia with her twin brother Reese. As her father was of Cronex descent, he insists that the Cronex are justified in their causes and policies despite living in the same land that the people he hates resides in. When Carissa was twelve years old, the family had to move to Emrovia as a result of the civil war breaking out in the tropical country.

While the kids were easily able to adjust to the different culture and policies of Emrovia, her father was stuck in the past as he was basically indoctrinated his whole life to believe completely in the Cronex. Because of his backwards views, his business wasn't as successful in Emrovia as Saraxia. However, he refuses to change, instead he blames the "woke" culture of the Emrovians. As Carissa and Reese grew older, the more annoyed and frustrated they became of their father's refusal to change with the times. This was even worse for Carissa as she not only secretly hung out with reptiles, but also started to realize she is bisexual.

When she started middle school, she took a strong interest in basketball as it was her retreat from the stressful family life at home, while Reese played football. There, the two made friends with a few reptiles who also played for their respective teams, leading to both of them, especially Carissa to take after their styles. This lead to Carissa eventually starting to speak back to her father, leading to arguments. During high school, she met Tiffany Zeola during P.E. class as the latter complemented Carissa's dreads that she styled based on what she saw from Saraxians. The two sneakily hung out behind Cole's back. The iguana even helped Carissa learn how to swim.

Just when Carissa turned eighteen however, Cole immediately kicked her out of the house as that was when she came out to her parents about both her sexuality and her compassion for reptiles and Saraxian culture. Feeling hurt and devastated that her own parents turned against her, she took refuge in the Zeolas' home as she began to see them as her true family. Meanwhile, Reese joined the marines to participate in the Emrovian invasion of Vhendyr. During the conflict, the two girls went to Empire State University to pursue their careers. Tiffany wanted to become an Olympic swimmer while Carissa wanted to become a professional basketball player. However just in case, Tiffany took classes around being a nurse, while Carissa was interested in criminal justice. During the war however, Reese was killed in action.

After graduating college, Carissa was drafted by the Empire State Armada for the EWBA. Now making over $100K salary, she is now wealthier than her family. However, she doesn't let the sudden wealth get to her head as she lives in a small house, with the only expense being a swimming pool. She also works a regular job during the off-season to give back to her community. She still loves to hang out with Tiffany as much as she could.
