*THERE IS A STORY BELOW THE DESCRIPTION*
The Sonic rush isn't quite over yet, as this time I feature a new gal for the first time here: Lanolin the sheep.
A rather new addition to the IDW cast, I do like her design and personality and my buddy Xy-Merfox
xy-merfox thought the same, thus why we decided to work together to bring her in as a genie gal. The tail, the lamp, the outfit, the whole works is there as I do so hope she'll get a bigger role in the comic from now on. She did go from a background character to an actual one, so things are looking good!

LANOLIN THE LOST
Lanolin ever meant business.
Someone who went through rough stuff as per Eggman's megalomanaic whimsy, the sheep had joined in the Resistance, persevered through with the Restoration and now tried her darndest to make a difference. Wanting no one to go through what she experienced, she was diligent, serious, business-minded and that meant something to her and those she worked with. Jewel was someone who did appreciate her hard-working stance, her no-nonsense attitude which made it so things got done...and yet even the steady and even-minded beetle thought that perhaps Lanolin might need to unwind and that she was perhaps a little too intense. In fact, many thought the same.
She could respect that, but people had been taking it easy prior and Eggman went on to rupture everything time and again, which made it so it was her mission to be vigilant, to be prepared. It wasn't easy, far from it in fact with those like Sonic saving them and yet acting as if they could be carefree and aloof. He was a hero, of course, nothing but respect from her, but the blue blur could stand to be a bit more proactive in her own opinion...which was exactly why she was on a self-imposed mission right now to make sure that things left aside would not bite them in the rear and cause an easy-to-prevent disaster. In a cave near a desert, a powerful artifact could apparently be found due to research from old files unearthed by Jewel and archaeologists, the kind which might prove an excellent and potent power source. If they had it, they could perhaps power up a great many grids in a theoretical fashion...yet if Eggman had it, she couldn't even begin to imagine how many would lose their lives or their homes thus why she went straight to the localization triangulated by experts and theoreticians.
She could have waited for her teammates from the Diamond Cutters, with Whisper and Tangle being competent fighters and capable allies...but she did have issues with how impulsive and sometimes reckless the lemur could be. While Whisper was more someone working in the shadow, a true professional and worthy of her moniker of The Guardian Angel of the Battlefield, Tangle was a bit too enthusiastic and downright innocent in some aspects. Not without experience or merits, just a bit of a laid-back and yet eager attitude that Lanolin couldn't quite wrap her head around, thus why she had gone on her own to secure said artifact. It was supposed to be deep within a tomb, belonging to an old ruler of unknown origin and unfathomable power. She hadn't stayed to hear everything, the key information already more than enough for her to do her job as she saw the half-buried pyramid hidden between dunes and strange mirages, a natural but also mystical protection from would-be invaders.
To get faster inside, she merely needed to use her bell empowered by Maggie, the magenta Wasp that could employ sound as means of attacks and protection. The time-worn stone and marble went on to collapse, letting the sheep go inside as while she would have preferred to be a touch more prepared, time was of the essence as her own past with badniks attacking her town certainly did weigh on her mind and soul. While it would be best to lay down a plan, failsafes and gather more information, the idea that someone like Starline or Eggman could lay a single finger on more power was enough to motivate her as she entered through these catacombs, the low light certainly a good deterrent for the fearful and the superstitious...but not to her. She felt she had a higher responsibility to all people on Mobius and thus did she soldier on with her flashlight and her own Wisp beside her.
If some of the tales told by past members of the Restoration were to be believed, such places could be ripe with danger and traps as Lanolin certainly tried to be cautious about everything. Despite the rush, being injured or worse during this expedition would be foolish, especially given the lack of immediate back-up as she went on to scratch nearby walls, marking them in order to find her way back should she get lost. A very common tactic in puzzling areas as she couldn't just scout the place in a few seconds like Sonic or Shadow would, resulting in her trying to draw a map mentally as to where things were located. Sadly enough, there weren't many distinguishing details to help her along and, unbeknownst to her, the entire catacombs were against her as it was as much dead as it was alive, a place so much as an entity. Her scratches and chipping, the small drawings and signs were washed away, covered by dust and unseen and mystical repairs so as to make the sheep lost in no short time.
She tried not to panic, managing it for the most part as losing her nerve would serve no immediate purpose. She tried to manually go forth and draw a map upon a notepad, taking input from Maggie as one of the elements playing against her was the shifting nature of this locale. It had been an immensely long period of time since anyone had set foot within, causing the catacombs to indeed defend itself but also test the sheep and its strange luminous companion. Satisfied with what it saw, the next step came in as Lanolin had a temptative yet unfortunately worthless map now as she tried something anew, only to then be lead directly to stairs that would lead her down inside the tombs. Never being seen before, she was wary yet it was better to explore than for paranoia to cause inaction as she went down.
And that's when she lost not only her flashlight but also Maggie.
The power within this mysterious would-be temple of the dead had indeed caused a shift, discarding elements that it did not require. Artificial or even sentient light, such as what they understood, was not welcome and thus did Lanolin get to the lowest point of the catacombs without her companion or even her own tool. She was not caught in darkness, however, as indeed had there been a sudden flash, then many other ones with torches illuminating a most pristine and well-kept area, unsullied by time or the visit of others. A grand chamber with a long rug embroidered with gold silk, a long and vast tapestry of many depictions of magic as what laid in there was none other than a vase. It was upon a small table, one made of padauk wood expertly-preserved, laid with golden edges and a small piece of cloth beneath the receptacle. It looked ancient yet superbly polished as to just see it made it so Lanolin felt somewhat...peaceful.
Such surprising cleanliness and reserved opulence was shocking, yet the initial surprise was somewhat contained the moment she laid eyes on the vase as it called to her both metaphorically but also strangely in a non-figurative manner as well. A slight sheen onto its surface, a one that seemed to nourish itself into a pattern, made her feel immensely pulled towards the object as Maggie's absence or even the situation she found herself in began to feel less immediate, less concerning. She knew it intrinsically that this was the relic she had been seeking, that which could help everyone upon the surface of Mobius. It seemed to communicate in the miracle of its appearance, of its look as some faint glimmer floated around while she got closer unwittingly. Her body reacted on its own, a magnetic force making it so the distance between the vase and her diminished little by little unbeknownst to Lanolin as to her it only made it seem as if the opposite was happening: the vase getting closer to her.
This was destiny happening, awe shushing out any possible doubt or discrepancy as Lanolin did not quite have her guard up. With the little to no information she had along with the potent and mystical effect of the vase and the catacombs working against her, all she could do was fall under an enigmatic trance until she got much closer to the object in question. It exuded a smell, pheromones that could attract any living being or entity, charming and will-sapping in a way that would confer bliss as opposed to fear and panic. Like a transparent beckoning finger, that aroma went on to make Lanolin approach until she was next to the vase. Solemnly did she grab both handles on the side as the vase began to shine...and then a mighty phenomenon happened in the form of suction. A vortex of air and magic, one in which the sheep was claimed as while she momentarily snapped out of it, it proved far too late as her fluffy hair was pulled towards the opening...and then was the link between the artifact and her created with but a single strand of her fleece.
By now did the energy that Lanolin had been seeking start to invest itself in her as a sparkling fuzziness went on to reverberate not only on her fur and flesh, but in her spirit as well. There had been no mistake as to the fact that this was indeed potent, though the recipient itself needed a proper vessel, someone belonging to a mortal caste and possessing equivalent intelligence and experience to channel its possibilities. Lanolin would do more than fine as while her hands were somewhat glued upon the handles, she began to float in the air as her hair was pulled forward along with her head. The opening proved too small, yet the sheer state of her own flesh and entire being began to turn malleable as she twisted into a mixture of semi-liquid and smoke. As much as she ought to be afraid, the euphoria of the energy spreading through her being kept her not only pacified but happy, an even more potent trance than the one produce by the lure which was used to bring her closer.
As such did her face and cranium stretch as it was sucked inside the vase. While the object was much smaller than the sheep, it proved inconsequential as her shoulders stopped there while her own feet dangled in the air, only for the artifact to suck her down as her hands were freed from the handles and her upper arm, alongside her torso, were taken out from this world. Then did her abdomen and her waist follow as had there been another person to witness the scene, one would only see her rear and her legs shivering, delight invading her every pores and thoughts as the values intrinsic to the catacombs and the vase were pulsating through Lanolin herself. Then did her thighs and ankles follow through as she disappeared from view, gobbled by an inanimate object containing no small amount of power...and now a sheep.
The truth behind this relic was that it once housed a djinn, a mythical being of utmost cosmic weight and abilities. The servant, then spouse to a once great king who lived together and then were buried together...as the djinn followed her lover and master into the next life in order to be together always. Still housing the power contained within the being, discarded, the receptacle needed to continue its work, to gift that to someone else alongside the responsibilities and thus was Lanolin chosen by virtue of being not only the first...but somewhat cool-headed and not devoid of charm. Her transformation would go on as new attire, great skills, grand and alternate senses and even larger awareness would be granted to her, then unleashed as there would only need to be someone brave enough to venture into the catacombs...
And unleash a brand new djinn on the planet known as Mobius.

New as in she got a name, personality, actual role, dialogue, possible upcoming appearances. I don't really count background characters mostly meant to populate the panel and little else.
Otherwise, Gadget Hackwrench would legit be counted as a Sonic character. XD
