Here we have an American-built T-16, which is more or less a Universal Carrier with some slight differences. Namely, the chassis is longer than the standard UC, and instead of a steering wheel it was operated with levers for steering. Additionally it was powered by a different type of engine but the horsepower was roughly the same. Other than that there's not a whole lot else that's different.
Originally the T-16 itself was intended to improve upon the standard UC, as well as potentially seeing service under American forces. Despite a not at all insignificant number of them being built, they didn't really seem to catch on well, as the British considered it inferior to their then-current models in terms of reliability and capacity. In any case they didn't really see a whole lot of action, which is a shame in my opinion. It really seemed like there was an attempt at standardizing equipment among the Allied forces, but then again that might just be me speculating. Either way, really neat to come across. I'm not sure if they're that common compared to a regular Universal Carrier, but then again the two are so similar in appearance that it may not really matter.
