Admittedly old artwork, but as we approach the new year and the end of 2023, I've been wanting to dust off some old ideas and see if I can bring more of them to life in 2024.

These are two of my robotic characters, Andee and Angela. They are a pair of autonomous creations among many that survey a planet-wide archive.

Most of the Droids on this planet are actually not 'alive', and although all of them possess artificial intelligence, not all of them can maintain a personality or a sense of self. Andee is a rare case, as he is possesses morals, values relationships, and oddly enough, feel. He describes the touch as distant, but can still sense almost everything flesh can, albeit with a minor delay in detecting temperature changes.

Golems are overseers, grand constructs tasked with defending particular regions of their planet's archive. All Golems acquire a soul upon their creation, so they are essentially brought into existence with a full personality, generally according to their vessel's design and purpose. Angela is tasked with protecting the Astronomy Region. She is respectful towards her creators and is always dutiful in collecting additional data for their growing archive. Secretly, she harbors a distaste for her station, unable to actually visit the planets she studies. As a Golem, she is bound by nature to guard her region's data for eternity.

It unfortunately isn't displayed well here, but in this sketch I had started with Andee and Angela's design came second, so she got a bit squashed. Her lower half is almost cocoon-like and her wings are steampunk style with cybernetic tech. She possesses a visor that displays a veil behind her head, and whenever she speaks, the veil rises and settles like equalizer bars to the tone in her voice. She is also MUCH bigger than Andee, believe it or not.
