hmm. It's an easy way to check in on FA and see if new comments have come, so that I can reply to them in case someone is wondering something. Also interesting to see what arts add in new watchers too, but that might also be timing on upload rather than the art itself I suppose.

Yeah I delete my new comments on a daily basis, I always read them, so I would struggle to keep up if I didn't lol.

There's no way I could let my numbers run away like that. Would drive me completely nuts. I obsessively go through everything every day. Heck, anytime I get a fave or watch from someone, I'll go look around in their gallery and faves as well for anything I might like, haha

Sounds like everyone else follows traditions of clearing their messages at particular times of year or after reaching thresholds, but I clear mine whenever I'm finished with them. I'll leave journal or image notifications there when I plan to get back to and say something to them, then remove them after I've said what I feel I should say, and saved what I want to save. I'll also leave certain special comment replies in there that make me happy to re-read.
Regrettably I am prone to taking an eternity to get to important ones due to not feeling good or prepared enough to interact with them, and they do become buried and forgotten beneath others.
Gosh, I hope FA doesn't ever wipe all our notifications again, although I've saved HTMLs of my messages pages just in case they do.

heh, now i'm tempted to try that for this year with faves and watches to see the number rise, though it just might totally disagree with my notification ocd ^^;
