I have had access to the works of Anne McCaffery for most of my life, and of the Pern Novels the parts that appealed to me the most were:

1-Life on a different world, however brief my own natural tendency to try and avoid the rest of humanity might make that...

2- The possibility that I might be able to gain a small, green Dragonette companion...

And...

I messed up the little horns I gave her.

Yes, I would like a small green female dragonlike being. Mainly because if you have read the books, you already know that the Greens & Golds are Girls, and the Bronze, Brown, & Blues are Boys. B-colors for Boy, G-colors for Girls, and I would prefer not to get a Gold for the simple reason they are the Matriarchs...

Where as the Greens tend to cozy up to just about anyone...


Ok, if it is sounding all sorts of sexual, then please turn that off for a minute. We are talking about a creature that can fly, and has hips about as wide as a Housecat. Body mass a little lighter than the average Housecat at that. Semi-sentient, or a little better, can grasp concepts like Before and After...

Anyway, have a gander at Emmi, a small, friendly, flying Ronco Lighter. Yes, I did mention that there are downsides to living on this distant planet. Most of the native life forms are either capable of Flying away from danger, Burrowing away from Danger, Teleporting away from Danger after breathing Fire on it, are Fish and don't care, or are Plants, so don't care.
