Gods all have different names in many cultures, however their core name is the common word used for their domain. A fire god may be named Pyros, or Darnaig, but the god of fire is actually called Fire, because every nation or species may have a different word for fire, but it all refers to the same element, Fire. Death and Life are siblings, and as siblings they cared for one another. When an event called The Storm came, Life became the strongest entity to fall to Corruption, a force that twists entities and elements to twisted mockeries of what they were, even if it would mean destroying themselves. After the gods fought Life, Death had the responsibility of caring for their sister's creations, before the corruption. Because of how closely death and life became entwined, many creatures fear death and creatures touched by it, because Death's fala is the only thing that truly kills everything living.

Igukko and Nikoti are members of the Iyana, a pack of African Wild Dogs gifted with Death's fala. Fala is spiritual energy, humans call it mana. Fala has the signatures of different gods that reined over a different aspect of the world. As creatures gifted with death fala, they could sense echos of deceased and use tokens made with the deceased's remains to summon aspects of creatures, called echos, to aid them in battle. Igukko is the pack's shaman because his proficiency with death fala far exceeds the rest of his family and allows him to summon stronger echos. Nikoti's an adept fighter, capable of adapting to radical changes in hunts and battle and, like their family, regularly works with Igukko as the situation demands.
