Long ago, Xydexx posted a link in his LJ to an old cartoon called King Midus Junior. In this variation on the "magic touch", Midus Junior ended up with a "Golden Rubber Touch". He was dissapointed at first, then realized he could use it to recycle rubber for the war effort (this cartoon came out in 1942, during WWII).
For some reason (yeah right!), the concept fired up some ideas in the mind of this wuffy. What resulted is a little naration of the way Vargr WISHES the cartoon had been filmed!
Contains involuntary transformation into rubber objects, expansion, inflation, and forced popping in a "G" rated cartoon way.
Hope folks find this short fantasy entertaining.

Thanks! A cartoon ought to bring at least a giggle or two. *smiles* Some day, when time permits, wuff really ought to re-work this to be in an actual "screen play" format. Would be a good learning experience for one thing.
But for now, at least this version is readable. Glad you enjoyed it!

"Weird" is certainly a good word for it. *grins* It was supposed to be pure 'sugar fluff' silliness, with a strong inflation-fetish appeal. That would surely amount to 'weird' in quite a few folks' definitions.
Hope it didn't freak you out too badly, buddy, 'cause wuff is just chock-full with this sort of weirdness. *chuckles* There's sure to be more like this one in times to come.

It's nigh impossible to freak me out, at least with a story. And weird doesn't faze me: it may turn me off of something if I think it's too weird, but I won't be too upset or rattled by it.
I'm currently writing a story about a psychic chinese lawyer who gets posessed by the soul of a dragon (see my page for the story on the dragon). How much can weird faze me?

Heh, what a fun story, thanks
Now if only it were possible to turn such an ability on and off at will as well as reverse the effects, just imagine the fun you could have!
Out of twisted curiosity, what would happen if you used such an ability on something already rubbery? Say a balloon, for example?

You're most welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice to see these stories are actually getting read. *smiles* With a site like FA so filled with artwork, the stories oft' seem somewhat easy to overlook.
Oh, being able to turn that effect on and off would make for all SORTS of fun, wouldn't it? *Grins*

Hmm.... That's a very good question! This wuff hadn't thought it through, but it does open some INTERESTING possibilities!
Let's see, I can postulate three major catagories of results: 1) No effect. 2) The rubber gets somehow "more rubbery". 3) The effect rebounds, bounced off of the already rubber object.
For #1, that result is easy to handle, but boring. However, it might provide a way to "safeguard" surroundings from the person with the magic touch - just have 'em wear rubber gloves!
For #3, "Rebound" might just turn the caster into rubber, or it could go in any direction. That adds another interesting question; if a person with the "golden rubber touch" gets turned into rubber themselves, does what they touch turn back to normal in reverse, just as they are? And if they touch a "normal" object, does it rebound and turn them "normal" too, and cause their touch to start turning things back to rubber? *grins* Might be a way to gain the "reverse the effect" ability.
Lastly, #3: What is "More rubbery rubber", exactly? Perhaps it stretches even easier, like Reed did after the failed experiment in the Fantastic 4 movie? Or perhaps that means it can stretch even farther before it reaches its limit? A little balloon might blow up big enough to rival a weather balloon before it pops! Perhaps it becomes non-poppable? *grins* Could be a lot of fun possibilities down this route as well!
Thanks for the question, and the message! Now wuffy has all sorts of things to consider about this little story. Perhaps a sequel will spring from such ponderings! *grins* Stranger things have happened.

You’re quite right, such things can be easily overlooked here, but then, perhaps that’s what makes finding them so much sweeter?

I was hoping you would say something like that! ;3
Well, should those ponderings of yours create a new piece of literature, then, I shall look forward to reading it!
Cheers!

Vargr just wishes his art and "Flash" skills were up to making this into an actual video.
Unfortunately, given this wuff's near-total lack of drawing skill, that task will have to be left for some other enterprising fur to pick up.
Wuff will just have to settle for the "short film" that plays out between his furry ears when he re-reads this. *grins*

*grins* Wuffy agrees completely!
Unfortunately, this wuff's artistic skills are nowhere near good enough to do something like that. But perhaps someone with the skill and similar interests may get inspired by this little idea and "run" with it one day.
Well, one can hope, at least. *grins again*
