The Vossen have shown remarkable adaptability as they spread across Eidon into many inhospitable places and managed to thrive there. However the icy climate of the far north and south nearly proved too much for them had it not been for the help of an unknown tribe of Lipane who already lived there long before the arrival of the Vossen who were ill prepared and equipped for the extreme cold climate. They attempted their first settlement near the coast but heavy storms pushed them further inland to a valley inbetween the hills which seemed a much better location at first as the hills provided some protection from the wind but every so often the wonds would turn and be channels through the little valley often followed by snowdrifts which would burry houses overnight and cause it's occupants to freeze to death. This place is now called Shivering Hills by the Vossen and the original structures can still be found there, preserved in ice and snow like a monument of the past.
The Vossen likely wouldn't have survived for long out there but they had no way out as their ships were lost in the storms, and they did not know yet how to hunt and find food in this frozen land if they could even keep warm with their fur not being thick enough to fight the cold so supplies were running desperately low. Things seemed hopeless untill one day they had some unexpected visitors when a group of Lipane was sent to investigate the activity in the valley, though they had not expected to find new arrivals in their land. Fortunately these Lipane were just as pacifist as elsewhere on Eidon and they decided to help these people who were in really bad shape. The surviving Vossen were invited to stay with the Lipane who taught them how to find food and survive out there even though the Vossen did not possess any ability for magic which made things much more difficult for them. Over time the Vossen adapted to this new land and they changed, growing stronger and taller, growing thicker all white fur which allowed them to blend in better untill eventually they were capable of surviving on their own and making their own settlements across the frozen plains.
Though they have kept close ties with the Lipane and often trade with them for materials and resources the Lipane can't or aren't willing to get on their own such as hides as they aren't hunters. But the Vossen, who now started calling themselves the Polvossen, would also provide protection against some of the more dangerous beasts roaming near Lipane settlements and keeping their numbers in check, and once a year the Polvossen and the Lipane come together to celebrate Frost's End a festival to remember the day that they first joined together as friends and allies. It is perhaps one of the only places in Eidon where the Lipane and Vossen coexist peacefully like this. As their numbers grew some Vossen would take to the sea again to travel along the coast and start new settlements and even find new land in the cold north and discovering people both new and familiar like the Pygoss and Volfen and establishing trade routes with them. Though they made new friends and allies the Polvossen never made contact with the other Vossen who fled to other regions though some of their culture and traditions still survives to this day even if the meaning might have changed over time.
