Team Fortress 2. You likely know about this game, have seen it in funny videos throughout the years, or perhaps are even an avid player yourself. July 22th 2011 is when I played it for the first time, and now. 1700 hours later. I still pick it up from time to time.
Think back to a piece of media, a game, novel series or a movie you really enjoy. What makes it so good? TF2 was made by Valve, by developers that are clearly passionate about game design, and put so much charm into their projects, a kind of passion that radiates out whenever I find myself playing it. Like basking in a warm summer sun, I can't help but feel happy playing this game. Even if I die over and over again.
As the years progressed. Updates became less frequent. Time and energy started to be spent into their other IPs such as Counter Strike. Valve has been neglecting this game.
If you know what has been going on. I am sorry, and I salute you for toughing it out. The game has been plagued with bots that have aimbot enabled. Programmed to join servers purely to ruin everyone's fun. As bright as the sun that is this game is, there will always ben sad individuals who want to snuff it out completely. ''If I can't be happy, then no-one can''
A week ago I heard about an initiative, ''SaveTF2/FixTF2''. I am not the type of person to join a movement. It's easy to think you can't make a difference in such a big world. Yet. I knew this would be done on one date. And like the Eminem song, ''when you have one opportunity to seize it? Would you capture it? Or let it slip?''
I knew I would not be kind to myself if I had let this slip. I hold a great deal of love for this game. Have had hundreds of hours of fun playing it with my brother, with classmates, with friends. Old and new. And even today, even through the neglect and state of disrepair the game is in. It is somehow thriving, held up by the players themselves and their love for it. I felt I could put that love into a piece. And hopefully make you aware of this issue as well.
For more information about the campaign, as well as how you can help it gain speed. https://save.tf/ has all the information explained very concisely.
I urge you to sign the petition. It seems so small. I know. But I believe you and I can make a difference. A great deal of people in the furry community play this game. And there's a good chance that you reading this might too. If you do, this is your cue. Thank you very much for reading. And I hope you have a good day <3

The game has been in such a state, that it make it sad to see...
Even more when those same "bot owner" are as devious as to make bomb threat to anybody who's trying to ruin "their" fun of ruining our fun. With bot always becoming more sofisticated to hunt specific players, IP, and so on.
I do believe that if they are so hostile when we try to even stop them a bit and try to know how to go around their Bots, is that i got a suspicious idea, that... This is more than just ruining the funs of other in a video game.. I'll not speak too much about it, but did heard that aimbot and other cheat or bot system are being sold behind the scene for so high
There was this one Cheat owner, who got interview by a team, and they ask the dreaded question like "how much is your cheat worth now?" he answered like... "if you offered me 2K for it, i would laugh at you, close the chat and remove you because you wouldn't be worth my time and effort getting my money out of you"
This was only one specific case... But it's always been in my mind... "What if there is a whole bot market to bot in other game to earn money?" ... yeah...
Already signed, Tf2 was one hell of a blast when i was playing it, Cannot really play it anymore because of... "them" yeah, i could be in community server, but this is literally just playing the ostrish and hiding my head under the sand.
And with Valve updating this game so often... "Updated Localization files" Meme... or Crates of cosmetics, and no real... Anything else. we really need to shake their bugs out of their heads to make them undestand that leaving such a great game in such a state is... Just giving them a worst image overtime.

To say it's insidious is an understatement. Especially if what you say is true. It baffles my mind that some people would put this much time and energy into ruining people's fun. And I'd rather not think about it too much
I'm happy to hear you have good memories of the game yourself

I should honestly play it again, Play my good ol engineer, or Demopan, it bring sweet memories about those... I'll probably just stick to community server if i do.
It's just sad that peoples are that dedicated to ruin people's fun as you say. But then it seem to be what peoples find fun these days, if we take exemple on Reddit or Twitter...
Anyway, Sorry for the long blabbing, i didn't mean to bother, just... TF2 as been my first steam game, and i don't want it to keep dying this way!
Be safe in the meantime, And maybe, who knows, we'll meet in a server someday!

From the campaign's QnA:
"Why should I care about this? Cheating and abusive behavior affects more than TF2. Games such as Counter-Strike 2 suffer from flaws in VAC. Cheating and botting are large issues not only with Valve games, but the industry as a whole. Something must be done."
Plus, lootboxes have been stigmatized enough that most games don't even think about including them.

Dude, the other day I was watching a stream where a couple of furries were playing Left 4 Dead, and some asshat broke into their private game and started spamming slurs. They tried to stop it by inviting a fourth to play, the asshat started to DDOS them.
My point is, it sucks this crap is happening to TF2 as well. I’ve played many games in my life and I don’t like seeing any of them getting ruined by bad actors who can’t stand people having fun. I hope you and others can make a change, Luke.

Unfortunately there will always be the yin to the yang of people just having fun. And others wanting to ruin it in their own strange way of ''fun''
Thank you for checking out the post and sharing your experiences. While it's often not good to dwell on these things too much. I hope they can be turned into something positive, in this case. Uniting to ask for change

Oh yeah I know about that, this bots been plaguing the game for a long time, it's almost been 4 years now.
I have already joined the campaign. Honestly I always found the regular game to be the weakest it has to offer, custom servers is where it's at and it's a bot free heaven.
Serious talk aside, how come every single fury in tf2 is a Pyro specifically?

Even though I really don't play TF2 I know how important not only for the people who play it but even people who don't play it, TF2 is such a iconic game and even with it being out since 2007 I think it should still keep going
I signed the petition myself now, I wonder how many signatures they need to have Valve do something about it though

Yeah and I mean a lot more people are talking about it when the one YouTuber finally announced about the issues with the game. I knew bots and such were in the game before that video released but I think the video really help a ton because now many other people are talking about the problems with the game
This is the video that helped many see that tf2 needs saving: https://youtu.be/2stmQfv93oQ

This was the first proper fps game I ever played and it holds a great place in my heart for me, had a lot of good times and my first ever commissions were paid with in tf2 keys. SFM and all that and such. Even from an economics standpoint I'll never understand why valves is just.. kind of abandoning it? like CSGO definitely hasn't been dropped despite being quite old itself by now.
It's frustrating to see it almost pushed to fail. Thanks for the heads up dude

Course! and yeah I've ran that thought experiment frequently :/ the game definitely makes revenue? so why treat it like so? it's just kind of silly, also I don't think this new deadlock game they're making is gonna be as big as csgo or tf2, maybe at the start but probably not in the long run. Also woah really :D you also got commed in tf2 keys?
yunno, I'm a bit slow on the uptake sometimes, I watched you paint this, and talk about the bot problem, and only now just realized; that's a bot on the ground getting it's face kicked in. For the longest time I couldn't figure out what TF2 character had rectangular blue eyes. duh, lol
Also, lovely work!

Haven't played TF2 ever since Halo dropped on PC and reignited my passion for it.
I'm gonna be real for a moment here: forget about updates, a new Team Fortress game is well overdue at this point. Considering how infamous the source code is for being an absolute heap of spaghetti, and the fact that said code leaked onto the greater Internet, it's not surprising that Valve's programmers don't want to touch it with a 10' pole. "Fixing" this game will be a truly mammoth task, and anything short of a complete rewrite of the game will not suffice because the hackers and botmakers have access to that core source code, and they'll find ways to circumvent any attempts to fix their exploits.
TF2's what, around 17 years old right now? Why go to the trouble of doing a full overhaul for a nearly two-decade-old game when you could spend just as much time building and future-proofing a shiny new installment from scratch on a new engine? It's time to #MakeTF3
