So dubious x3
It's an interesting but balanced mix of details and of the more impressionist elements like the document and most of the landscape other than that cluster of buildings. The effect places emphasis on certain compositional elements and allows the background behind the fox to be clear of visual clutter.
The shady fox stereotype is a fun subject for the painting x3

Awwww I love that you said impressionist! Yeah, I loooooove trying to find the minimum amount of information to strongly depict something. Such a fascinating chase in the realm of optics to figure out how the brain wishes to simplify stuff. If you've been to a Monet exhibit IRL, you'll find that the paintings when properly lit bear a striking resemblance to portals to his world. They hit in ways that feel more real to me than photographs, and I'm obsessed with understanding how to capture that :3
Thanks for the comment! The fox started out as a simple "side view fox" and then I drew a body around the fox head, then a story!

I never really appreciated Van Gogh 'til I saw his works in person, and at an exhibit where I could stand close enough to make out the individual rough-ground chunks of pigment. The paintings come to life in ways I wouldn't have expected.
And I trust this fine foxy fellow implicitly.
