Normally, I would say "guess which game I was playing lately", but I actually never got around to finishing it until a few months after I initially started drawing it. Well either way, New Super Mario Bros. Wii still remains my favorite 2D Mario game, so I figured doing the famous bah, bah dance with the Koopas and Goombas in 1-1 would be the perfect way to pay tribute.

Yeah, people nowadays don't give the New Super Mario Bros. games the credit they deserve. I mean, I get why people didn't like how the later games reused the soundtrack and art style of this game, but it was never enough of a problem to bring down the experience for me.
