So, digging back into the archives, this is a character I originally created for a Champions campaign back in University: Sue Ann Garvey, better known as 'Runaround Sue', as drawn by
Carnival.
Sue's a speedster superhero, whose daytime job is, unsurprisingly, as a courier. She doesn't have a 'secret identity' like a lot of superheroes because she first exhibited her powers in the middle of a televised intervarsity track meet, so keeping her powers secret was not going to happen. She'd already had the inevitable 'runaround Sue' nickname even before then, so she just decided to... sorry... run with it. Not only can she run at somewhere around Mach 20, she can go intangible so the air just goes through her. In fact, solidity and gravity are both pretty much optional for her, so she can do stupid 'toon tricks like running across thin air, standing on the ceiling, or even going straight upward by just miming climbing a ladder. She takes her job seriously, but not much else (she needs the money to keep herself fed, and that's not cheap with how much she eats).
Carni's theme for November was '(almost) NO-vember left' due to a late start on the month, so going with someone in a hurry just seemed appropriate.
(It wasn't until after Carni drew this mink that I remembered I'd later created a male 'Hyperferret' in some of the League stories... I suspect the two of them wouldn't get along too well.)
Artist's posting at https://www.furaffinity.net/view/61425499/ so go check things out there, too!

*laughs* Nahh, the song came first. (It predates me, even, it was released in 1961.) It's just that, when you have a young woman named Sue who's both a fast runner on the track and hasn't 'committed' the way other people think she should, that would be a near-inevitable nickname once any of her classmates discovered the song (maybe from a grandparent's record collection).
Could be... song has been around for a while, has been covered many times, translated a couple, and even had 'answer songs' written against it. It's on the Rolling Stone top '500 Greatest Songs of All Time list, so it's a reasonably famous song; not surprising it would show up in soundtracks, especially as it's a definite 'story' song.
In an Forbes interview with DiMucci, he said that it was created after he received from Buddy Holly advice about writing songs and not trying to please everyone with what you write, so "Runnaround Sue" and "The Wanderer" were songs he wrote based on the impact from Buddy and "the day the music died."
Also "Sue" was the name used because it fit the song.
