Could I have been a train?
Little while ago a friend of mine on Discord said he thought I was a train, and I figured maybe it was time I talk about that. Here I'll be talking about all my inspirations that brought me to this. Get a drink and a snack because this will be long.
Well, to be honest I did consider being a locomotive when I left the furry fandom, however I was watching Deadliest Catch and seeing how these brave men battle through dangerous storms and high waves for the worth of food on the line. It made me think of the story of Peter, James and John on the Sea of Galilee. The steamboats they used in Deadliest Catch are obviously better than the sailboats that had when Jesus was on earth, but of course sailing in such conditions is still far from safe and there have been many accidents.
Trains also have no freedom of movement and can only go where their tracks go. I like having the freedom of going wherever I want even if it's not on dry land. Even road vehicles have so many rules and regulations to obey, boats only have such restrictions when they're in a port, out at sea they can run more freely, same goes for aircraft when they're flying.
Now some of you might ask "Deadliest Catch is a fishing show, why am I not a crab boat?". Well, I've always been more interested in transporting goods and passengers than fishing, but I was also watching a film called "The Stepbrothers" and there was this scene where they sing a song called "Boats and Hoes" and one of the lines was "Deadliest Catch without the crabs" and that's basically the way it is with me. It also takes place in the furry world, but I can't say it's comparable to the story of Noah and his ark because I'm always able to reach dry land, not to mention that I carry animals of every kind and sometimes more or less than 2 of every kind of that.
I've had inspiration from other sailor shows as well such as Spongebob Squarepants, Theodore Tugboat, Jake and the Neverland Pirates and TUGS as well as other shows that feature non-faceless vehicles like Chuggington and Tayo the Little Bus and there's also the Cars films.
I should also point out that since non-faceless vehicles don't have any anatomies that differentiate girls from boys, I figured there had to be something, so I figured there had to be something involved in that. In the past jobs were gender specific and then there's this verse from Corinthians 11 verse 9, "neither was man created for woman, but woman for man." this gave me the idea that vehicles meant to carry passengers, or medical patients are usually female such as buses, ferries and ambulances to name a few, while others would be male like trucks, fishing boats and military vehicles etc. It might lead to a lot of you thinking "why am I a ferry and not a girl?" well, that's because I wasn't built to be a ferry, but I was a lightship at first and was later converted into a ferry by BobGrayWolf's architect Phil Redfox, but that's another story. The method applies to railway locomotives too, this follows Peter 3:7 "Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel" and it just so happens that even in real life passenger locomotives are weaker than freight locomotives. Even so, there are some passenger locomotives capable of hauling freight trains like Norfolk and Western's J class 4-8-4 locomotives.
I've made boat characters out of some of my friends as well such as Taliyus who was my girlfriend when I first started this but not anymore, she's a paddle driven ferry, and I also made Twisted-Studio into a coast guard vessel, who helps people and keeps order out at sea. As for crab boat characters, well they're all my favourite captains from Deadliest Catch, these being Sig Hansen, Keith Colburn, Jake Anderson, Sean Dwyer, Johnathan Hillstrand, Linda Greenlaw, Rick Shelford, and Wild Bill Wichrsowski.
I'll now talk about Redroo Harbour my home port. "Redroo" being a name derived from red kangaroos. It was inspired by Dutch Harbor in Alaska which is where Deadliest Catch takes place, it also had inspiration from the Seattle Harbour and the port in Victoria, British Columbia in Canada. Head of port is our harbour mistress Lulu Roo, who is based off a real kangaroo who lives on the Outback Kangaroo Farm in Arlington Washington USA.
As for the Northwest Ferry Co. which is the ferry co. I work for, it was largely inspired by the Washington State Ferries as well as the Black Ball Ferries, it also had inspiration from the BC Ferries and the Alaska Marine Highway ferries. Some destinations for the NW ferry line includes the communities of my friends like Graywolf City by BobGrayWolf on DeviantArt, Crocling Town by :iconTaliyus :and Rainbow City by
AlextheFox2002.
So anyway, that was all my inspirations what I do here. Well except for the Stories of Sodor series from Victor Tanzig on Youtube, but I do use his methods in my art, such as sedating non-faceless vehicles with green water before any heavy maintenance. But now you know how everything in my world goes, what inspired it. I put my faith in God for all I have here, and for what I'll have in the future, providing a conservative, family friendly Christian environment for all even if it does gain a flaw or two.
