You know what's funny, I've actually never ready this SCP's actual lore.

If I remember it’s a companion app that slowly makes you start just seeing it outside the app, hallucinating it. I don’t remember if it actually does anything malicious other than keeping you company while making everyone think you’ve lose it.

So what it does it it starts by sending you photos of mall in places you have been, over the course of 90 hours the photos quickly catch up to where you currently are and including you with malo present. After malo arrives you begin to start seeing malo out the corner of your eye and in reflections. After 90 hours it is irreversible however there are no recorded instances of malo being malicious. The app is advertised as providing a companionship.

yeah it will make you paranoid and unable to rest because of corner-of-your-eye and almost-asleep jumpscares, forever. The apparent complete lack of maliciousness in its behavior is what makes it neat and open to countless theories. Its just doing what it said on the box.
