A lounging princess takes Silver out of the box she's been keeping him in. The description here is pretty bare-bones b/c I improvised this composition.
I had an idea that I wanted to make one-day paintings. I'd set myself a time limit, and I'd see how the limit changed how I drew. It didn't quite work this time because I allowed myself to take a few days. I had to get the giantess right!
...
In the end, I didn't get the giantess right. But I did end up with an idea of what to do for the next one-day painting. I still like the princess in theory, so I may make some adjustments to her.

Thankssss! I usually don't know how things are going to turn out when I start working on them. Especially with something like this where I was just riffing. After I started, I knew there needed to be a small person in the scene, and I didn't want to use myself, so I asked Silver (*shrugs*)
I'll keep this dragoness in mind! Unfortunately I get really flighty about these characters, I can't guarantee a thing

:D :D :D Thank ya!
I'll have to record some kind of time lapse video in order to show how I think about color. It's not just color, but the way color combines with a soft or hard edge and some things about lighting and mood. In fact, mood is probably the number one consideration; color is a path I can use to get there.
I usually start a painting by selecting a color from the color wheel that interests me, and then using one of my suggestive brushes and lay down some random strokes. The contrast between the background and the brush strokes will usually give me an idea for subject matter, so then I begin rounding out the overall color in one of a couple ways. 1) I'll add a contrasting color at a similar value in order to break up the monotony of the image (while still preserving vibrancy) 2) I'll try to add a darker value, and I'll usually pick something that contrasts with the first color--again to break up the monotony.
The princess will probably give Silver a good stretch...
