Fighting style: Fights in a very defensive manner, using brilliant footwork and strong guard to watch the opponent’s positioning before going for a takedown. She’ll either tackle or throw her opponent to the canvas before going for various joint locks to weaken limbs and gradually wear them out. When the time is right and the opponent struggles to maintain their breathing and/or balance, she brings them to the ground and executes her Eye Of The Storm finisher, a merciless onslaught of joint locks targeting every section of the opponent’s body until they tap out.
Personality: She’s a very professional woman who greets people with respect, though this all disappears if you happen to flirt with her husband. She’s very dedicated and willing to leap over mountains for his sake, so the thought of someone else taking him away awakens her protective instincts. She also has a bit of a short fuse and gets easily agitated if things don’t go her way. However, at her core she is a kind person who will stand by your side for life, short fuse or no. The best example of this is Anne, whom she considers her best friend despite the sheep’s messy abandonment of Diamond League. She still keeps in contact to this day.
Backstory: Though she wasn’t poor by any means, Meliane grew up in a low-income household in a district ridden with crime. Violence was commonplace and the police struggled to keep things under control. The town’s mayor did little to enforce faith as she was far more content lining her pockets rather than giving more funds to law enforcement that wasn’t her own security detail. Because of their low income, her parents didn’t have the money to move and with no guarantee of safety from the public sector, they put money aside for self defense lessons. Everything Meliane’s parents learned was shared with their daughter at a young age and though it wasn’t by design, this is what jumpstarted her interest in combat sports.
Meliane got her education at a local school, though her rough upbringing combined with unruly students got her into a lot of fights where she would often dislocate limbs. It was through one of these fights that she met Pablo, a panther who came from one of the few upper class households, in middle school and they bonded. The two best friends graduated together but due to the unstable job market, they resorted to the one thing they knew best: fighting. They signed up to a combat organization and proved themselves through hard work - Pablo through boxing and Meliane through MMA - until they both become high-profile members of the organization. At the age of twenty, their organization was absorbed by Diamond League and the two found themselves at the bottom once more. Competition was fierce but they both proved themselves in their respective fields, demonstrating their incredible skills at grappling and striking respectively.
It was here they met Anne, a sheep whose skill, strength and battle IQ surpassed the vast majority of the organization. After a brief spar in while Meliane handily won through her expertly crafted joint locks, the two became fast friends and she taught the sheep everything she knew about grappling and various joint techniques while her newfound friend taught the weasel a lot about balance and footwork that she had missed.
Then, on the very same day Meliane was headed for a big match against one of Diamond League’s biggest stars, she received news that her mother had been stabbed to death in a botched robbery on the way to the arena. She was devastated and broke down in the locker room as Pablo did his utmost to console her, yet as the CEO of Diamond League came to suggest they postpone the match…she refused. Though tearful and broken, Meliane knew more than anyone that her mother would have wanted her to keep going, so she stepped into the arena to the deafening applause of fans. Then, after five intense rounds in the octagon, she defeated her opponent and let out the loudest battlecry she could muster while pointing at the sky, dedicating her victory to the one who now watched over from above.
A few months after her mother’s funeral, Pablo confessed his love and proposed to Meliane, no longer able to stay quiet about those lingering feelings. The weasel gave him a tearful “yes” and though there were some bumps on the road, the two has stayed faithfully married for many years with no signs of it ever fading.
