FINALLY 2025 IS DONE! THIS WAS A HORRIBLE YEAR!
Here's the art summary of 2025, and instead of the usual JSRF theme, I went for a decidedly KittSprinkles theme instead. This is because this year has seen me do quite a bit involving concept arts for the game, as well as making the characters. It also foreshadows how in 2026 I'll almost ONLY be focussing on my characters, games and worlds such as Street Soul, KittSprinkles and maybe even more.
I think what made 2025 tough for me was the fact I got bogged down drawing stuff for friends, and I sadly lost track of things, as well as ended up in a vicious cycle of staying up to finish things and ending up tired each morning. Just like in the dark days of 2021 and 2022...
January: Foetoid sketched once more: What better way to start off 2025 than something Forsaken 64 related? This image came about after having a sudden urge to draw Foetoid, mostly due to how Foetoid is one of the characters from Forsaken 64 that I'm most capable of drawing, as well as the fact I wanted to take the design from the character select screen from Forsaken Remastered and bring it to life. I'll admit, the jetbike itself does look a little toy-like, but that's mostly due to my art style. It's Foetoid itself that counts here, and figuring out and building the creature based on the blurry green image given to us in Remastered was a real challenge, but I can easily say that I truly brought Foetoid to life here!
February: Puff Plum character sheet 2025: Early 2025 was really all about me, since I was drawing quite a bit of stuff involving my characters. If only it could've been that way... This little character sheet of Street Soul's most... Interesting... Female hero, Puff Plum, is a very flavourful and fun image that tells us a bit about her. I even print screened a scene from Jet Set Radio Future to act as a background, which really shows some dedication! I actually planned to do character sheets of the other Street Soul cast, but that got cut short by other stuff. In 2026, however, I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to finish them. I can't wait to draw some more graffiti-happy skating friends and fun!
March: A Tunnel Ride: March saw me draw quite a few Forsaken 64 artworks, but this one stands out to me the most. I really went overboard with the details and textures here, and I actually based this off of one of the intro scenes in Forsaken PS1 and Remastered, which has one of the BEST cinematics in gaming history, by the way. I also quite proudly used the Forsaken Origins logo I created around that time here too. I think maybe there is room for improvement in this art, maybe some better lighting and maybe a little more of a view on Kayla in the middle here. Just a last note, I drew Kayla a LOT this month.
April: Veteran of a dozen droid combat wars: Now this was a fun one, as well as yet another Forsaken 64 masterpiece! Mofisto is a character who the Forsaken PS1 and Remastered intro REALLY sold to me with the awesome decapitation it causes. The art itself was inspired by me seeing someone play Ena's Dream BBQ at college. This reminded me a lot of the iconic Forsaken intro, so I decided to combine that with my amazement with Mofisto and this was the finished result, plus a ship in the background. Early 2025 actually wasn't too bad. As another note, isn't it crazy that I'm the only one who's really drawn anything based off of Forsaken 64 outside of Acclaim and Probe themselves?
May: I did not choose to become a robot: Getting back to the tag-tastic world of Street Soul Radioooooo!!!! In contrast to the crazy and fun feel of the setting, this lore piece tells us about Hexa's backstory and implies themes of reincarnation and how the her past life might still affect her. It's also a nice little look at Scrapsy anatomy. I think I went a little too overboard on the use of the noise and median tool here to create texture, but that and the darkness really gives you a feeling that you're looking at something personal that even Jazz doesn't want to think of for too long.
June: Peex sketches from June: I find it a little hard to believe that simple sketches would be the thing I liked the most in June, but I really wanted to draw something showing Peex's silly nature. I did slightly redesign Maia here, but Peex is as always the main focus. Cupcakes, parties, pinkness, that's all a Peex thing!
July: Spawn Carrier Unit: Another Forsaken 64 artwork, this time featuring the SCU, a boss only seen in the 64 version of the game. I honestly just came up with the idea of drawing it since I felt like it, and not to mention how it would be useful later on when I focus on my remaster of Forsaken 64, known as Forsaken Origins. I gave the other enemies here some polish, too! The Ghost Guns that follow the SCU around and not to mention the big enemy with the blade up top look pretty splendid! If I could change anything, I'd probably make the texture of the background a little better. Maybe I should find some techniques?
August: Gigatron 2025 sketches: Some sketches of Gigatron. Not only is this guy a playable character in Forsaken Origins, but he's also the main antagonist of Ordna Awakens, a comic that I came up with in 2021 but never got to doing anything for. At this point, I've decided to accept that now is not the time to start Ordna Awakens due to stuff like KittSprinkles: Racing Adventure and Street Soul all happily planned for 2026. I'll admit, I REALLY agonize over perfecting the designs of the Digimon in Ordna Awakens, let alone the rest of the setting, so I think it's for the best to keep that on the back burner. My proudest achievement here is Gigatron's jetbike form, which is a sinister and strange thing that just so happens to resemble the Jetix Logo. I. Wonder. Why?
September: HAVE A FUN BIRTHDAY: I remember that September is where 2025 started to get hectic for me. College and a few other things kept on getting in the way of my actual stuff. As much as I didn't really draw a birthday drawing for myself, I kind of did, in the form of this artwork which I plan to be for a KittSprinkles themed birthday card. I used a gradient and the median tool here, which I think helps make KittSprinkles: Racing Adventure stand out to Street Soul or Forsaken Origins. The card focusses Jaclyn, Howler, and Razal rather than Kitt and Sprinkles, but I did eventually make a card featuring those two, so fear not!
October: Oh man, Kayla's a meme!: So around this time I found out about Pac-Man And The Ghostly Adventures, and this scene just stuck out to me. I decided to draw Kayla from Zoophobia and Forsaken Origins reenacting this infamous scene. This year I've tried to avoid featuring any inflation drawings in my Art Summary, because I'm trying to head in the direction of drawing more normal stuff that revolves around my characters and their stories and worlds, but with nothing really else that wasn't inflation that I could pick from... Well... Oh man, looks like Kayla's a meme!
November: Kitsune2 and his water belly: Around October's end, I decided to start taking old drawings that I deleted back from my days on the trash pit that is DeviantArt, and let me tell you, I had VERY good reason to delete them, and redeem them. This involves taking the 'characters' from these old drawings and replacing them with far better ones, such as Puff Plum or Darius Halley or in this case, Kitsune2. This helps me get rid of the guilt and pain I feel looking back at those disgusting requests and feel better about the whole thing. Now, I didn't really know what else to choose for my month's favourite, because most of the images I drew were inflation related, being redeemed drawings and all. So I decided that this image of Kitsune2 with a big belly full of water would be best. After all, I've not drawn much involving him in a while, and his 2024 redesign really needs some puffy attention. I kept the background mostly the same from the original drawing, but it's Kitsune2 who really makes this good.
December: Season's Greetings and a Happy New Year!: I worked my head off to get this one done in reasonable time. What makes me think this is my favourite drawing of December 2026 is not just the fact that it's something fittingly festive, but also due to what it means for me. It's basically me telling myself that 2026 will be the year of my characters, worlds, and stories. That's why it looks so similar to a certain scene from a certain indie show about being stuck in another world. It's literally me showing that I am stuck in my own worlds. I will admit I could have done somewhat better here, maybe adding more shading and detail and showing more Christmas things, but I think that next year I will improve, and 2026 will be a huge improvement compared to 2025.
And that's my picks for the favourite artwork of mine from 2025. I don't really have anything else to say really. Just hope that 2026 is better.
