There are lots of hell/devilish imagery, but I didn't find the supernatural part scary at all. There are some (well done) thriller/suspenseful bits, though, mostly related to the murder/killer. They kept me at the edge of my seat reading, but I wouldn't list them as "scary".(less)

This is an FYI rather than a question: My copy of the trade paperback has Morse code on the end pages. It translates as: "Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name" twice.
