Repeated so much about how cold emotionally the mother was. I should have counted. I did not care about the loooooong fairytale. What other of her books is as good as the two I mentioned?(less)

If you are interested in the war between Russia and Germany and what life was like in the freezing temps and trying to survive, similar to Nazi Germany, then it would lend some insight and knowledge. I liked the parts about Alaska b/c we are taking a cruise there. Not sure the dynamics of mother/daughters would register with you at 14. Just sayin'...(less)

It was wrapped up too nicely with a little bow for a book that was about such an ugly time in history.(less)
