Kris Calvert is a former copywriter and PR mercenary who after some coaxing, began writing novels. She loves alliteration, pearls and post-it notes. She’s married to the man of her dreams and lives in Lexington, Kentucky. She’s Momma to two grown kids, and is also responsible for one very needy rescue pup. When she’s not writing, she’s baking GF cupcakes.
These three little love stories were adorable! Kris Calvert was able to just drag me into this story from the first page and kept me hooked till the end! Each couple in this story was so unique and a part of me couldn’t help but relate to each of them in some way. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more of Kris’s books. So much so that I just got Sex, Lies, and Sweet Tea! Great Job Kris!
Writing is decent, but the storylines almost read like an episode of Saved by the Bell. Sorry, but Mike Montgomery comes across as a stalker. Sarah naive and clueless. Lexi's character has potential, but is inconsistent. One minute she acts like a confident woman, the next a high school girl. Penn is decent. But why we can understand why Ellen acts the way she does, it's not consistent to what we read she is feeling. The book is decent enough, writing style is good, but the stories are like something I would have written in high school.
These three little romance stories formed around Valentine's Day made me hope that I could find that kind of love myself. Each couple was linked somehow to each other and everybody seemed to gravitate to a specific place. I loved the fact that each couple had their own specific story and each ended the only way they could have. Happily Ever After.
I just love how the three couples in this book are interwoven. The story jumps from couple to couple keeping you guessing how they will all get their Valentine to "Be Mine".
Isabella Snazzy Shasky Snazzy Shasky your favorite color of friends and family members who have been working hard to make it was good,I think the greatest group and golden boy 👦you you pick it.
I really loved the Sweet Tea Collection. It was something great. I loved Be Mine just as much, in spite of its great differences. It was so sweet and romantic! I am now a Kris Calvert fan for life.
I very good story of love for Valentine's. These couples are very great to get to know and enjoy the growth of love that happens between them and the connection they have for each other
This was the perfect light reading of romance. I enjoyed all the couples that knew each other and how each met and found each other. Each one helped the others knowingly or not and made for a great Valentine read!
quick easy read that i got for free and was perfect for sweet sappy happy ending valentines day type stories. it is about six people who are all looking for love and are all connected to one another in some way or form (one lady works for one guy, there are two sets of siblings, etc.). a few times some of the characters are borderline stalkerish or react a little immature, but for the most part it is cool to see how their stories all intertwine. my only gripe is that in the beginning and throughout most of the story as the potential couples are starting to get to know each other they were moving at normal pace then suddenly as it was almost time for the book to be over since it was very short, ALL of them decided to take the plunge and declare how much in love they were with each other. wanting to be each other's valentines or be with each other, sure, but ALL of them fell in love THAT fast? not believable. but still it was a cute short story.
I was expecting a bit of difficulty, have such a short book follow six characters. It was surprisingly all woven together quite simply, which made it feel seamless and easily followed. The characters were all likable, the men all sweet and a little awkward, with the women cast in the more standoffish roles. Though none of the females came across as bitter, just a little wounded. Their backgrounds weren't dug into, though there was mention about Penn, Lexi and Ellen's pasts, so I missed it that there wasn't more about Sarah, Tom or Mike. I would have liked to know just a bit more about them, since the pasts that were brought up played directly into character development and their views on love, and more specifically why they were opposed to it. I found each story sweet, though there for awhile I was worried Mile was a little creepy. His secret admirer ploys definitely came across with a stalker vibe, and had I been in Sarah's shoes, I would have been scared stiff instead of flattered. And I would have liked for Tom to be a little more open and forceful if necessary with the blonde bimbo who was always trying to hang on him. But I suppose being who he was, awkward mostly, he wasn't the type of guy to overtly crush anyone, though that did cause him to hurt Lexi's feelings. And I just found Penn and Ellen completely and totally sweet. No major flaws, just heart-meltingly adorable. The book does end rather abruptly. My kindle said I still had 30 mins left of the book, so I was disappointed when I turned the page and that was it... But this is a great Valentine's Day, anniversary or "I just met the man of my dreams" day read.
Be Mine is a Moonlight and Magnolias novel by Kris Calvert. It is a cute novel and is complex enough to really keep you on your toes.
Lexi Scott is a barrister at a Starbucks while she is going to college. She has come to know many of the customers by name as well as some other things about them. Mike Montgomery is a graphic designer who comes into the store every morning on his way to work. Lexi has noticed his interest in Sarah Brooks, a violinist. However, she just looks on until one day Mike asks if she knows who Sarah is. Lexi gives him her first name and that she is a violinist. Lexi suggests she buy Sarah a coffee the next morning. Mike does, but he does it anonymously. The two strike up a conversation and a friendship. Meanwhile, Lexi has come into contact with Tom Brooks, Sarah’s brother, at school. He is a cellist and Lexi goes to hear him play. Their friendship has a rocky road to go on before we see if it lasts. At the same time, Ellen, Mike’s secretary and a widow, is approached by Penn Scott, Lexi’s brother, who is a chiropractor at yoga. He wants to date her but she doesn’t think it is time for her to date. She also isn’t sure of his relationship to Lexi Scott at Starbucks who Mike talks about. The story takes place from January 6 to February 14 and gets convoluted before everything straightens out.
Valentines Day is a terrible day to feel alone. For these six hopefuls, trying to find love is a tough job! A widowed woman, a concert violinist, a Starbucks barista, a cellist/ mathematician, a marketing genius, and a chiropractor are all either looking for love, or trying to avoid it. Some awkward moments of hilarity and truly romantic gestures occur in this story, and I enjoyed it immensely!
I loved this book! It reminded me so much of the movie "Love Actually." I fell in love with these characters. A lot of the time, you think that the story in a book could never happen to you, but with this one, I fully believed that hey, that could really happen. It left me feeling happy and wanting more all at the same time. Please read this book. It's just an overall great read.
In true Kris Calvert style, this book reads a lot like six degrees of Kevin Bacon. I loved reading and watching the characters lives start out separate and become intertwined with each other. This book tells the tales of six individuals who are uniquely inter-connected, and how they each come to find love. This is a quick read, and very entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
This was a lovely and sweet novella. My heart absolutely warmed with the Valentine's Day outing for Lexi. If only "real" men acted like the ones in this story. Talk about putting the MAN in ROMANCE. Clearly written by a woman (naturally) but worth every sigh and "aww" moment.
