Beatdom #11 is the nature issue. There are essays examining the relationship between the Beat Generation and nature, along with our usual mix of interviews, poetry, fiction, and art. This very special 5th anniversary issue features interviews with Ann Charters, Richie Ramone, Al Hinkle, and Hank Williams III.
David S. Wills is the editor of Beatdom literary journal and the author of books on William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Hunter S. Thompson, and Haruki Murakami. He lives in rural Cambodia and is currently working on a book about the 6 Gallery reading of 1955.
Everything from Hunter S Thompson to William S Burroughs to Joey Ramone to Richie Ramone and the Ramones - all with a human and “outdoor” theme to the essays
The articles and stories by contemporary writers continuing the Beat tradition in their writing styles and current careers makes it a worthwhile read and very enjoyable. There were lengthy interviews not specifically to theme. For those looking for Beat-specific (or in this case Nature-Beat-specific) oriented, those seemed a little like filler. But overall an enjoyable read.
