LEGENDS: a limited-time, four-book collection of legendary love stories

Rate this book
Breathtaking. Exquisite. Beautiful.

For over a decade, the books of USA Today and New York Times bestselling authors, Leylah Attar, Amy Harmon, Katy Regnery and Mia Sheridan, have captivated readers with their lyrical prose, spellbinding characters and heart-wrenching love stories. From Archer's Voice (Sheridan) and What The Wind Knows (Harmon), to Unloved (Regnery) and The Paper Swan (Attar), these four authors have attracted deeply-loyal fans from all over the world who praise their unforgettable storytelling.

For the first time ever, these four authors have each contributed a beloved, indie novel to LEGENDS, a limited-time collection. Four unlikely couples will sweep you off your feet, fill your hearts with hope and love, and leave you breathless for more. Whether you are a fan of all four authors, or just one, we guarantee that the stories in this collection will resonate for you.

MISTS OF THE SERENGETI (Leylah Attar): Set against the lush backdrop of East Africa, this award-winning contemporary love story follows two ordinary people, bound by tragedy, as they undertake a remarkable journey through the Serengeti to save endangered children. Jack, a coffee farmer in Tanzania, and Rodel, an English teacher from London, meet in the aftermath of devastation, but discover a connection that transcends distance, culture, and circumstance. Inspired by true events, Mists of The Serengeti is a flawlessly written, emotionally resonant tale of the unknown ways in which we are all connected.

THE LAW OF MOSES (Amy Harmon): Someone found him in a laundry basket at the Quick Wash, wrapped in a towel, a few hours old and close to death. They called him Baby Moses when they shared his story on the ten o’clock news – the little baby left in a basket at a dingy laundromat. Years later, Moses is a troubled teen: strange, exotic, beautiful...and utterly beloved by Georgia Shepard. And so begins a story of pain and promise, of heartache and healing, of life and death. Exquisitely written and deeply emotional, trust in the journey, and in Amy, your guide.

THE VIXEN AND THE VET (Katy Regnery): In this "Beauty and the Beast" retelling, disgraced journalist Savannah Carmichael returns to her hometown of Danvers, Virginia, with her once-promising career in ruins. Given the opportunity to get her skin back in the game by writing a patriotic human-interest piece, she agrees to interview local war-hero-turned-hermit, Asher Lee. Savannah has no intention of falling for the gravely-injured veteran, but fate has other plans for her. Intensely romantic, fast-paced and ultimately unforgettable, this modern twist on a beloved fairytale is an instant classic.

THE WISH COLLECTOR (Mia Sheridan): Upon arriving in magical, mysterious New Orleans, ballerina Clara Campbell is instantly captivated by the tragic legend of Windisle Plantation. Returning day after day, she speaks to a phantom voice through the cracks of a stone wall, falling deeply in love with a man whose face she's never seen...a man who knows that Clara's hopes for a future beyond the thick walls of Windisle are impossible. The Wish Collector is story of shame and triumph, of loneliness and love, and the miracle of two hearts connecting despite the barriers between them.

This was a 4 book series full of books that are heavy and will basically rip your soul to shreds. They're all trauma heavy and emotional reads (some more than others). My opinion is the unpopular one, but Mists of Serengeti was my least favorite. The death of the MMCs daughter was heartbreaking and I feel like the events of the plot happened too soon after she died. It was still fresh and he was a lot (rightfully so). Our FMC was dealing with the loss of her sister in the same shooting. I thought this book was just okay.

The Vixen and the Vet was pretty good. Our MMC is a wounded war Vet who becomes a hermit for the past 8 years bc half his face and arm were blown off. Our FMC basically uses him to get her career back after her ex destroyed it (she's a reporter). Her inner dialogue in the beginning when describing the MMC was disturbing. Her sister was even worse. I HATED her sister. I don't think a side character has ever bothered me so badly. In the end, the FMC betrays the MMC and it takes a while for him to forgive her. She does grovel and make it right, but I prefer my MMCs groveling 😬.

Laws of Moses was my favorite in the bundle. There's a paranormal element to it that allowed for many twists and turns in the plot which I loved. It did start out slow, but everything that happened at about 30% on totally made up for it. I cried a few times. It's best to go in blind with this one, but it is safe from OW drama and all that jazz.

The Wish Collector is a novel I read last year and loved...it is however pretty controversial. Our MMC used to be a defense lawyer and defended a rapist. Said rapist ended up bombing and killing a bunch of people. The MMC is injured and spends years as a hermit living with his guilt until our FMC comes along. Many women find his actions unforgivable and i totally see that. I personally liked how much he changed as a person but I feel it's important for women to know what they're getting themselves into while reading this one.

Overall, I give the bundle 4 stars!

It's a four-book collection and every book felt like a warm hug in cold weather. You will need tissues while reading these stories.
Every book in this collection was so uniquely written. Every character is unique in their own way.
The emotions I felt while reading these books I can't explain *can't control sobbing* . Before starting this, my expectations were normal. But after reading this I'm left with a whirlwind of sadness and love for these characters. I felt so empty inside. These were such beautiful yet heartwrenching books. The angst, the chemistry, the banter, and the romance....very well executed. The characters were so beautiful and the trauma they went through...I'm lacking words at this point. I guess it will take me months to recover from these books.
These books dealt with many sensitive topics. Before reading, read through those triggers.

Thank you so much, Katy Regnery and the publishers for providing this ARC

We meet Savannah, a reporter and her sister, Scarlet who is getting married to Trent, her childhood sweetheart. Savannah had taken a break from work to help with her sister's wedding.
A friend called and told her of a position in the Lifestyle section of the Phoenix Sun. She needed to write a human interest for the Fourth of july. Asher Lee was a veteran and a recluse, so Savannah was intrigued by his story.
I loved all the twists and turns of this story as well as Asher and Savannah’s relationship.

The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery has been in my kindle library for quite awhile but I was finally able to bump it to the top of my TBR in this collection! Savannah Carmichael is back home dealing with a blow to her career. Asher Lee has been home and living as a hermit since his encounter with an IED explosion. One day, Savannah knocks on his door. There’s just something about Savannah that pulls Asher out of his shell. I enjoyed their romance and the way these characters balance each other. They’re good for one another! I couldn’t put this book down!

I also look forward to reading the other books in this collection as they are full books, not novellas.

MISTS OF THE SERENGETY

First, I want to say THIS IS A MUST READ! THIS IS A MUST READ! … a thousand times over. If you don't read anything else this year READ this book!

I think when reading the blurb, some people might be afraid that this story is too sad, serious, and profound. Believe me it is ALL of that and children are my trigger point. But I promise you will survive. So please don’t hesitate.

Jack is a divorced coffee farmer in Tanzania who lost his only daughter to a tragic accident. Rodel suffered the same fate, having lost her sister to the same attack. Rodel, who despises travel, made a final trip to Tanzania to collect her sister mementos. She discovered secrets about her sister's life and work for the people of Tanzania. Rodel is adamant about finishing her sister's mission before going home. Rodel and Jack met one fateful afternoon - a few days trip turns into a longer adventure. Both Jack and Rodel were two lost souls, broken, drowning in sorrow and regret but together they help each other find peace, healing and acceptance. I love ALL the characters of this book. Jack’s adorable little girl -- her life was cut short. Mo seems tenacious and spirited. Ro – she is sweet, innocent yet fearless. Jack – so damaged, hurt, rigid but breaking down the walls you will find a man with a beautiful heart full of love. Goma, the anchor of the family – love her so fierce. All the characters are well-crafted and each carried an important aspect to the story.

The author’s writing is so gorgeous, poetic, flowing effortlessly I was completely enthralled, lost within the pages. I feel like I am THERE living, breathing among the characters and the beautiful serenity landscapes. This book reminds me so much of one of my favorite movie Out of Africa.

Mists of The Serengeti is no doubt an epic love story but there is way way way more than that -- this book is about love, loss, heartbreak, finding yourself, forgiveness, humanity, family, and friendship. The story is truly heart-wrenching, moving, powerful. I cried a lot - not just one ugly cry. I was emotional throughout the book and I LOVED every minute of it. There were a lot of light-hearted, funny parts and hilarious laugh-out-loud exchanges as well. The epilogue really gave me a closure I did not know I desperately needed. I literally let out a huge sigh of relief. I crave books that have all the feels, books that are powerful, make me think, touch deep into my soul and this BOOK IS IT for me! I came out of the other side renewed, inspired, and educated on the beliefs and traditions of the African culture. A mixture of romance and women fiction – Mists of the Serengeti is one of the finest stories I've ever read. Gorgeous cover, extraordinary story, flawless writing, brilliant author.

6 stars wouldn't do this book justice! JUST READ IT and see for yourself!

THE LAW OF MOSES
5 Stars

"A story of before and after, of new beginnings and never-endings. A story flawed and fractured, crazy and cracked, and most of all, a love story."

One Word...BEAUTIFUL! Those two sentences right there epitomize the power of Amy Harmon's writing. Her story telling is beautiful and flawless...just flawless.

This is a story about a small town girl who falls in love with a misunderstood boy.

"They found Moses in a laundry basket at the Quick Wash, wrapped in a towel, a few hours old and close to death."

"People love babies, even sick babies. Even crack babies. But babies grow up to be kids. Nobody really wants messed up kids. And Moses was messed up."

Moses struggles all his life. No one knows how to deal with him and his eccentricities. After being juggled among multiple relatives, he finally comes to live with his grandmother where he then meets Georgia. Georgia is immediately drawn to him. Moses is closed off and strange, but oh so beautiful to her. He doesn't let people in, but Georgia pushes her way into his life. Despite being drawn to Georgia as well, Moses is lost and doesn't know how to handle Georgia being in his life.

"No one had ever wanted me, starting from the day I was born. but Georgia had wanted me. And because she had wanted me when no one else did, I had immediately been suspicious."

Moses has a special gift, a gift that most people don't understand; people think he is crazy. He has a compulsion to paint out his visions and he struggles to find peace within himself. He struggles to accept who he is and pushes Georgia away. Moses leaves Georgia for several years. During that time, Moses and Georgia grow and mature, but the consequences of their teenage affair have lasting consequences that change their lives forever. Hearts are broken and lives are shattered. When Moses comes back, he and Georgia have to learn to love, fill in the cracks, and rebuild their future.

At its core, this is a love story. It's a story about a deep love shared between two souls, a story about learning to love yourself, and a story about the love of family. It touches on the coming of age, forgiveness, and the strength to overcome all odds. This is such a rich story and I loved everything about it.

I loved Georgia and Moses, especially Moses. He was such a tortured soul, but his heart was so beautiful. He was so lost as a teenager and I think his friendship with Tag was one of the best things that could have ever happened to him. He needed his friendship and support to gain confidence in himself. He learned to control his visions, but also learned to trust and accept himself for who he was. Once that happened, he was able to share his gift with the world. I loved Georgia for her ability to see Moses and his beauty. His skin color never mattered, his visions were a beautiful talent, and she craved to know him as person. She saw through all the shallowness and found the beauty within.

I'm not sure I could be so good to overlook all the superficial things and find the beauty deep within, but I know I want to be that type of person. I think the best books are the ones that make you take a step back and think about life and the people around you. It makes you question who you are and hope to be a better person. I loved Georgia's concept of the 5 greats. It's such an optimistic way of looking at life. I'm kind of the glass half empty kind of person, but I found the five greats such a simple and beautiful way of thinking. It paves the path to forgiveness and it allows us to overcome all the bad that surrounds us. Sometimes it's easy to forget that there is so much love and good in the world; we just have to keep looking for it.

"That's five greats then, Moses," she said. "Your forgiveness. And Mine."

"We let people believe what they wanted and accept what they would. We let the colors blur and the details fade."

There is also an element of the paranormal. I don't think this is a spoiler...but Moses can see the dead. However, Amy Harmon blends this element in a spiritual way...in the way where we all secretly hope our beloved ones watch over us, where they go to a better place that is peaceful and happy. I think the way this story touches on this issue really gives us hope for the people we have loved and lost.

This book has it all. It has love, family, spirituality, and even a bit of mystery. It is just a rich and well written book. This is definitely a MUST READ!!

Best Thanksgiving ever!!! because I read this beauty <3
I mean you really can never go wrong with one of Mia Sheridan books. I have been a huge fan of this author for the longest time and every book is breathtakingly beautiful!!! The Wish Collector is an EPIC love story and with a MAGICAL feel to it. The storyline is simply brilliant combined with such exquisite writing I am completely enamored. I honestly did not even read the blurb until the end but it summed up perfectly what this story is about. I won’t bother repeating it here.
The hero Jonah is a tortured soul, broken physically and mentally, which we find out later was from no fault of his own. It was heartbreaking to see him waste nearly a decade of his life isolated and hidden behind the walls of Windisle Plantation. It is not until Clara came into Jonah’s life that he can see a little glimpse of bright light. I really fall in love with both characters. I adore Clara - She is the sweetest, kindest, most selfless, compassionate heroine I have ever read. Their relationship feels like a modern fairy tale base on one of my favorite plays Phantom of the Opera. Clara is resilient. She sees Jonah beyond his scars and much to his stubbornness she is determined to break down his walls and show that Jonah is worthy of love and a second chance at life. This book is so much more than a romance. It is a touching story about shame and redemption, forgiveness, hope, friendship, passion, second chances and the miracle of love. I think this book is truly magical! I love the secrets, the myths, and the haunting legend surrounding the people that once walked the grounds of Windisle Plantation, and how their lives intertwined into Jonah and Clara’s beautiful love story – that was just brilliant! Jonah and Clara’s love story proves that true love does exist despite the strongest barriers between two people. The Wish Collector is emotional, unique, fascinating and unforgettable. Mia outdid herself again with this book - absolutely another BEST BOOK OF 2018 list.

Legends is a limited edition collection of 4 stories written by 4 extraordinary authors. I couldn't give it anything less than 5 stars, even if I've only read 3 of the 4 stories so far. These are can't be missed, phenomenally written stories that capture you on every emotional level. Grab the tissues and hunker down to binge these books!

First up....Mists of the Serengeti by Leylay Attar

The story begins with such a knock out punch that I wasn't sure where Leylah would take us. But she didn't disappoint. She captured a beauty of Africa in the midst of teaching us about something that I wasn't even aware of. And each of the characters grew from the beginning and found their own way to forgiveness and healing.

From the MCs of Jack and Rodel, to all the supporting characters, everyone held such an integral part to the story. They are what made the story tangible and breathed life into us when things got a little dark. But within the darkness Jack and Rodel find a piece of light. And when they give up that light because of the strength and the love that they have, that is where they find one another.

This was a journey that was beautiful and I would love to experience again and again. Because even through the pain and the darkness that the rain brought, the rainbow at the end made it all worth it. Bravo, Miss Attar for sharing a piece of history and reality and mixing it into a fictional piece for all of us.

The Vixen and the Vet by Kate Regnery

I haven't gotten to this one just yet, but will edit the review once I do. But I do love a fairy tale retelling.

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon

Amy Harmon is a master storyteller and imo, not many can compare to her. She is a genius at creating characters and a storyline that are so real, so raw and so unique. She has a way of making the characters and all their faults be endearing and BE. THE. STORY.

Why would you want to miss out on Moses and Georgia's story? It's not pretty, but it's a coming of age story in a small town with an odd twist that grabbed me. The story plays out over many years, but it's the last half of the story that wreaks havoc on the town and on individuals in such a heart grabbing, beautiful, yet painful way.
If you are looking for a beautiful perfect love story, this isn't it. But that's what makes it perfect. It's real and perfectly imperfect. There is love, but not how you expect. Look for beauty in different places and this is the story for you!

The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan

Two stories. One beautiful book. 4 characters that have to find their happiness while some of it seems lost.

Mia Sheridan is a superb storyteller and I enjoy being taken on any journey she takes me on. She can take me from the 1800's telling me a story of 2 people that have to hide their love because of social standing, war and race. To a time in the present where a man that imprisoned himself in a home because of past actions and a woman looking to find answers to a riddle of the past. And where these two stories intertwined is magic.

"There is magic. Us. We're magic. Two lonely people who found each other despite the barricade between us."

Join me in New Orleans where history and love is strong between the characters in this story. So strong that it lingers, even when we want to ignore it. It's magic and magic is all around. A different take on the Hunchback of Notre Dame mixed a little with Beauty and the Beast, this story will definitely appeal to those who love a good fairy tale. Of a man who made wrong decisions because of greed, but has paid for his crime in more ways than one. And of a woman who believes so strongly in an old "wives tale". A woman who sees the good in others and loves fiercely. Clara is the strong one in this story and she makes the best case for Jonah and all those around her. She brings out the best in people. And for that, I want to read about her and just be around her. She brings the beauty and hope out in everything we read and experience in The Wish Collector. What a gift and what a truly beautiful story!

This limited time collection is a gift to readers and I can't recommend it enough. When read story or read them all. You won't be disappointed!

This is an outstanding collection of four wonderful, complex, suspenseful, evocative romance novels. I am not sure how to say enough positive things to encourage everyone to read these books. I haven't encountered this idea before: collecting a group of novels that have the common ground of the romance genre and of having a certain flavor to their writing that I can't quite describe but that I could sense through all four novels. And it is glorious!
The first novel is "MIsts of the Serengeti" by Leylah Attar (an author new to me). I felt as though I was there, experiencing all the strange and wonderful aspects of this heart wrenching story that takes place in Tanzania. Plenty of emotion and lots of suspense, with outstanding secondary characters. Jack and Rodel both lose someone in a shopping center attack. He closes down, while she takes on a task her late sister had planned, and their odyssey begins.
Second is "The Law of Moses" by Amy Harmon. This story takes place in rural Utah, where Georgia grew up and Moses lived intermittently as a child (very creative backstory!). Her parents have a small farm and also provide equine therapy. Moses comes to live with his grandmother, whose land adjoins the farm. There is a suspense/faintly paranormal aspect to the plot as the romance of Georgia and Moses develops, catching feelings, arguing, avoiding each other - lots of "backing and forthing". All of it was very engaging and kept me guessing just the right amount. The descriptions of the setting and of Moses' artwork (that figures into the plot) are just outstanding.
Third novel is Katy Regnery's "The Vixen and the Vet". I read this story some years ago, and it was just as amazing the second time around. Savannah is a discouraged journalist who has come home to regroup. She is offered the chance to write something for a Fourth of July feature, and decides to interview Asher, a disabled veteran living in her small town who hides in the mansion on the hill. Each chapter is headed by a list item from the bridal magazine article about relationship milestones that Savannah's sister quotes as the book begins (I love having allusional chapter headings in a book!). One can predict that Asher and Savannah will end up together, but their path is not without plenty of interesting rocks along the way.
The fourth story is "The Wish Collector" by Mia Sheridan. Jonah and Clara meet on opposite sides of a local legend "weeping wall" when she comes there to make a wish. He never leaves his old family estate, and she is new to New Orleans and has few friends. This story has a paranormal secondary plot that dates from the 1860's that is part of what brings them together. In addition, there is a contemporary suspense plot that is what led to Jonah's disfiguring injuries and his isolation. I was so taken by this story that I could not stop reading (yes, it was a "bad decisions book club" moment of staying up way too late!). Ms. Sheridan has an amazing imagination and a great ability to bring the various plots to the reader's attention at just the right level. It was truly wonderful.
Having written all this, I now realize that one common thread to all four stories is the fact that each has at least one character who is the "caretaker" of the most wounded of the main characters. This character provided not only comfort but much wisdom (or at least thought provoking comments). Everyone needs such a soul in their life.
I seldom reread anything (so many books, so little time!) but this collection is going onto that shelf. I want to listen to the audiobook sometime soon!
I was given an ARC of this volume and volunteered to provide a review.

These four authors are truly the meaning of the word, Legend. All 4 stories are beyond exquisite, showcasing their writing talents with each turn of the page. Getting to read these gems again felt like coming home. Experiencing every bit of heartache was as glorious a feeling now as it was when I first devoured these books.

Just know that each book is as unique as the author who wrote them and provides the kind of reading experience that is the perfect reminder as to why I, along with so many others, love a romance that sears our very souls.

Mists of the Serengeti is truly Leylah Attar's tour de force. A book that should be a movie by now. The journey for Rodel and Jack is almost unreal yet Attar offers up a timeless experience that offers up every single emotion possible as we weather a storm like no other. Brought together by tragedy, coincidence and fate, what Attar creates for Rodel and Jack is a chance at redemption and the glimmer of hope that everything happens for a reason even if we don't or can't understand it. I couldn't look away if I tried, even when moments were harsh and full of despair.
This IS masterful storytelling.

The Law of Moses brought me to tears. Yet in the way that only Amy Harmon can deliver, this love story between Georgia and Moses is carefully blended with the kind of heartache and pain that seemed inevitable. But was deemed necessary I suppose, in order for the universe to give this remarkable couple the kind of happily ever after they rightfully deserved. Harmon never goes easy on her characters yet they somehow come out the other side more endearing and blissfully resplendent and full of the kind of love we all hope to have in our lives. Quite simply put: this is a beautiful story from start to finish.

The Vixen and the Vet proved a novice author like Katy Regnery could tug at the heartstrings with the best of them. I fell hard for Asher and Savannah and the way they fit in a most unforgiving puzzle that was their lives. Regnery retells the timeless story of Beauty and the Beast with this romance that is both gutwrenching and hopeful as two souls find in each other what the world simply couldn't see: that they were worthy of love no matter what it might look like. A debut I still remember fondly.

The Wish Collector is yet another all-consuming tale from the talented Mia Sheridan. Once again she gives us two damaged souls who find in one another the balm to soothe all that troubles them. A happenstance gives Clara and Jonah a chance to see the world in vastly different ways yet somehow it makes sense to both of them. Their tragic romance gave each the chance to open up like they never have before and only time would tell if their love would forever be enough. Classic Sheridan in that you don't forget the characters or the story long after those last pages are read.

Each of these books offers up the very best in flawed characters, who love fiercely but allow the world to somehow hold them back. Finding their true love can be an uphill battle but for all 4 of these couples, sacrifice seems like a given and in the end with all they endure, I'd like to think that they would now know that love conquers all. Even if just for a little while.

All the stars and more.

Some books make such an impression you remember them for years. This is the case for the first two books as I had read them when they first released.

Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar

When I saw it was a part of this release I was thrilled to be able to reread it. It has some very tragic pieces that are difficult to read but written so well you just cry right through it and it just strikes your soul and stays with you. The story flows and the scenes are so descriptive you can see them in your minds eye as if your there. Definitely worth the read and worthy of the title Legends. I was so grateful for Jack.

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon

Amy is an absolute favorite author of mine. This book is a book I often recommend to others. It is inspirational and she is such a good story teller and has such a great pace that just catches you from the beginning. Moses and Georgia just made sense. What an incredible gift and curse Moses has. I could see and feel his pain through the words on the page. His grandmother loved him so and knew what he felt and saw even when she wasn't sure exactly what was happening. I hated that he lost her but that ended up saving him along with Tag. I loved Tag and if you you need more of him read Song of David. Also worth the read along with all of Amy's books. She is definitely a legend.

The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery

This was a book I remember intending to read when it was released and I've read other books by Katy but had somehow missed this one. I'm happy to have remedied that.
This book introduces us to town recluse Asher Lee, who became a hermit after returning home from Afghanistan injured from an IED explosion and Savanah Calhoun who returned to her hometown because she had been fired from her big city job. Savanah is looking for redemption and a feature writing job and sets her sight on doing a story on Asher.

Katy sets the pace for the story well and you get invested in the couple right away. You feel for them when they each feel their betrayal.

I really enjoyed this book. I think I've now read all of her books but I'll be checking to be sure. Definitely worth the read and worthy of the title.

The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan

I do not know how I missed this book when it was released but oh my goodness I am blown away at how much I enjoyed it.

I wasnt sure I was going to like Jonah when he was first introduced. He is a hot shot lawyer so full of himself. I felt there was something being held back and felt like he should've pushed.
I was glad he redeemed himself.

Clara was lovely and brave from the get go. Really pulled you in. New Orleans setting pulled you in. I love fantasy and all the elements just captivated me. I loved the weeping wall. I love Mia's pace and the life she creates around all yhe characters and the way the interconnect. I wasn't quite expecting the twist so that was interesting and glad it ended with them being taken down. Nice Justice.
Definitely will be recommending and worth the read. Legendary, just like Mia Sheridan!

Legends is a box set of four books. All amazing stories, beautifully written and each will pull on your heartstrings so get the tissues ready. This is romance at its best from four extraordinary authors who give us flawed characters finding love. Unforgettable and unique full length stories that will stay with you.

The Vixen and The Vet by Kate Regnery:
This book was actually written ten years ago but is a classic just like the fairy tale it is based on - Beauty and The Beast. A true love story between Asher and Savannah
who have more in common than they first thought. He is a severely wounded war veteran who lives an isolated life. She is a reporter who has recently had to return home after a devastating incident. An opportunity to resurrect her career arrives but it means interviewing the reluctant local hero. A slow burn romance involving lots of baked goods and her infuriating sister. There is a big bump in the road they have to overcome when their lives are going to take them in different directions and her career affects their relationship more than other could have known. I absolutely loved this and my heart went out to both of them. I was so pleased they found their way to a HEA and it just shows their love was the forever type.

The Laws of Moses by Amy Harmon:
I had already read this and absolutely love this angst filled story. Get your tissues out ready because you will need them. Moses was left as a baby in a launderette and his story continues as he becomes a troubled teenager. Georgia is totally in love with him but their story is unusual. We follow them over a number of years as they face an emotional journey. He has always felt unloved and isn’t prepared for her unconditional love.

The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan:
This is at times a heavy and controversial read. Set in New Orleans, with all its mystery and magic. This is actually two stories which the author brings together extremely well and shows there is hope in even the worse case scenarios. Jonah and Clara’s romance isn’t an easy one but they find a way through. He is a man full of guilt over his past actions and she’s a woman looking for answers. She is strong and shows such understanding but has he paid for his decisions. Will she fall in love with a man she has never seen.

The Mist Of The Serengeti by Leylah Attar:
This is set in Africa but be aware it has an explosive and heartbreaking start which involves the trafficking of children in Tanzania. Jack and Rodel’s story is a tragic one and very emotional. Good character development as the story unfolds, with everyone playing their part. Dark in places but the light does shine through the despair. Follow them on their journey as the fall in love while saving others. Based on a true story.

I had only read one of these but the others were all on my TBR list so it was great having the opportunity to finally read them. It is a limited collection so I advise you to grab this box set quickly and enjoy these four wonderful books. I loved and recommend all four.

LEGENDS is a collection of 4 books by 4 authors offered in a limited-time release. Only available January 1, 2025, through March 30, 2025 (exclusively on AMZ & KU)

Each author has their own writing style, and that truly made reading each story unique. The stories were emotional love stories, and each one tugged on your emotions as you read them.

MISTS OF THE SERENGETI by Leylah Attar: tells the love story of 2 people who fight to save endangered children in the Serengeti, and they end up overcoming more than what's in front of them. This one is inspired by true events.
3.5/5

THE LAW OF MOSES by Amy Harmon:
This is an emotional tale of Moses. He was dubbed "Baby Moses" by the media when he was found a few hours old in a basket wrapped in a towel left in a laundromat. We see Moses grow up to be a teen who most would consider him to be a troubled teenager. This one was very emotional!
4.5/5

THE VIXEN AND THE VET by Katy Regnery:
An unforgettable Beauty and the Beast retelling of a journalist who returns home with her career in shambles. When she gets the opportunity to potentially get back to her career, she takes it. That leads her to attempt to do a human interest piece on an injured war vet turned hermit. What neither expected was that they'd develop feelings nor how to overcome what happens. This was a faster pace story, but it has all the romance feels.
3.5/5

THE WISH COLLECTOR (Mia Sheridan):
I consider this a Phantom of the Opera X Beauty and the Beast retelling. We have a ballerina who's new to New Orleans. She's almost immediately captivated by the magic and mystery there. When she learns of the tragic legend of Windisle Plantation she finds herself back there daily. She also has conversations with a mysterious voice coming from the cracks in the stone wall. She develops feelings for the mystery man she's only ever spoken to but never actually met nor seen. This is a tragic love story that has all the feels.
4/5

Overall, all 4 books were a good read on their own. Some I thought were a little better than others in area's but, it was my first time reading anything by these 4 authors.

Overall rating: 3.75/5

LEGENDS: a limited-time, four-book collection of legendary love stories
Included are: Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar, The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon, The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery, and The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan. All four books are full-length romances.

While I am excited to read each story, I started off with:

The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery: The first thing I noticed and loved about this book was the southern feel. Set in Virginia, Katy’s words had me reading with a southern drawl. I love how characters from the South show respect and have high moral standards. I was immediately drawn to the characters.

Asher Lee, the wounded vet and recluse, brought tears to my eyes more than once. His pain, suffering, and loneliness were almost too much to bear at points. I wanted to wrap him in my arms and make everything better. During the story, it is put into perspective that one moment was all it took to change the trajectory of a man’s life. And from that point on, he had the choice of how or if he wanted to live. The fact that he endured so much alone, fought so hard to heal alone, and suffered immensely alone, but yet faced coming home to an empty house with no one there to welcome him was heartbreaking.

Savannah Calhoun Carmichael was a strong-willed southern girl with dreams of a career and more for her life. When that dream is ripped away from her, she also faces a new path, and in choosing that path, she meets Asher Lee.

These two form a bond and an incredible love for each other. A love like no other; a love that never ends. Their story took my breath away. Their love made me smile. Their pain made me cry. Asher Lee and Savannah Carmichael found their home in each other, and we should all be so lucky to find a love so pure and deep.

It’s been a long while since I’ve read a book with such emotion. It left an imprint on my heart and I am now driven to delve into more stories written by Katy Regnery. This was my first, but will not be my last.

Legends is a brilliant four book collection from four wonderfully talented writers.

Each book is very different from the other, uniquely written with equally unique characters & plotlines but they are all emotionally filled, gut retching & soul shattering in their own way, make sure you have the tissues ready.

I loved all four books for different reasons, Mists of Serengeti by Leylay Attar was in many ways a love letter to Africa, the author did an amazing job of describing the beauty of Africa and takes you an amazing journey through both the landscape & the relationship between the main characters.

I adore Beauty & the Beast & loved The Vixen & the Vet spin on this classic, this was absolutely gut retching & a beautiful reminder that everyone is worthy of love.

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon was a surprise I wasn't expecting but in the best way, it was such an interesting, beautiful & emotion filled story.

And finally The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan was again an interesting & welcome surprise, the author has a fantastic imagination & talent for drawing the reader into the fascinating world she has created, this was a story I could not get enough & struggled to put down, I always love stories set in New Orleans one of my top bucket list dream locations to visit.

This collection has a little bit of everything & is the perfect collection for fans of all of the authors or if you are new to some or all of them. Four very different authors who managed to create a beautiful collection of very different stories that work perfectly together. Prepare to feel EVERY single emotion.

Thank you to Grey Promotions for an advanced copy of Legends, all thoughts are my own.

Oh man where do I start with these stories?

Mists of the Serengeti:
I loved the adventure of this book! I think the only critique I have is it kind of dragged on after they made it to Wanza. But overall this book was a great story and kept me interested and totally gutted me at the same time. Goma is my spirit animal 😂

That epilogue absolutely DESTORYED ME 😭😭 but filled all the plot holes I needed.

The Law Of Moses:
I went in blind and wasn't sure if I would want to continue since I'm really not into paranormal ish stories but this was so beautifully done. It made me laugh and smile but also it completely GUTTED me. One of those stories that make you stare at a wall after and question life a little.

I immediately got the second book and the other stories that take place in this world.

The Vixen and the Vet:
Absolutely LOVED this story. Out if the four books, this was my favorite story. I will 100% be reading the rest of the books in the fairytale series and branching out to other books Katy Regnery has written. Just beautiful and spicy and funny! Just a great time.

The Wish Collector:
This story had similar Beauty and the Beast vibes as The Vixen and the Vet. Another scarred man hiding from the world and she keeps visiting him everyday and they fall in love. It was a truly beautiful story as well but was a little more of that instant love vibes which are not always my favorite but the story was still great and the writing flowed so well.

Overall this is such a great collection of stories in one book that had such great feel good moments and moments of absolute despair that you can't help but feel deeply for the characters.

Have tissues handy for this week's worth of love against the odds while rescuing the vulnerable.

Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar: Have a tissue handy for the two days (or an exceedingly long one) you set aside for this steamy contemporary murder mystery coming-of-age rescue thriller romance involving the trafficking of albino children in Tanzania. 5*

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon: Have a tissue handy the two days you set aside for this laugh-out-loud small-town recent YA interracial paranormal coming-of-age murder mystery fantasy romance with drugs, families, and ghosts. 5*

The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery: Have tissues handy the day you have alone time for this steamy contemporary Beauty and the Beast retelling that will also have you grinning and laughing out as played 22-year-old journalist Savannah Calhoun Carmichael attempts to salvage her career by interviewing disfigured 34-year-old veteran Asher Jackson Lee in their small hometown of Danvers, Virginia. 5*

The Wish Collector by Mi Sheridan: Have a tissue box handy on the two days you set aside for this action-packed adult, contemporary Beauty and the Beast retelling, fantasy mystery romance in New Orleans where 22-year-old ballerina Clara Campbell has just joined the New Orleans Ballet, leaving her Alzheimer's stricken father in Ohio under the care of Mrs Lovett. Meanwhile, lawyer Jonah Chamberlain is hiding at Windisle Manor... 5*

I had an ARC via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary review.

There are four full length romance novels from four authors:

Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar
The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon
The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery
The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan

Each book is captivating and you will need tissues handy. Take the time to curl up by the fire or in bed as you go through these books.

Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar: A poignant love story based on real life, a steamy contemporary romance that will tear you apart as it involves the trafficking of children in Tanzania.

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon: Found as a baby in a laundry basket, Moses has grown into a troubled teenager. His journey is an emotional one of pain, heartache and death but also of healing, love and life.

The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery: This steamy Beauty and the Beast retelling gave me more than few laughs. Savannah, a journalist, tries to save her career by interviewing injured war hero Asher. Theirs is both a heartbreaking and warm journey.

The Wish Collector by Mi Sheridan: Clara is a ballerina who just joined the New Orleans ballet. The mystical magic that is New Orleans sees her falling in love with the a man who she's never seen, only heard his voice. It's a journey of wishes and dreams, successes and failures, love and loneliness all coming together to bring 2 hearts into one.

This is a four-book anthology of legendary love stories. The four books are written by different authors featuring truly amazing romances, each unique in their own way.

In The Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar, you can enjoy an amazing journey through Tanzania as our couple fall in love while they work together to save children who are in danger.

In The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon, we travel to Utah where our star-crossed lovers experience heartache and healing as they navigate through rumours in their small town.

In The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery, we are treated to a Beauty and the Beast modern retelling where our beast falls in love with a journalist who breaks through his “castle walls” to interview him for an article.

Last but not least, we have The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan which reminds me of the Phantom of the Opera who pines after his beloved. As our hero goes through his journey of redemption, we are also reminded of the painful but necessary journey of emancipation.

I loved each and every story included in this collection. There were chuckles during light moments, tears during angsty moments and smiles during those happy moments. I have no regrets at all diving into these stories as I enjoyed my holidays.

Mists of the Serengeti - Under normal circumstances Jack and Ro might never have met but the tragic consequence of an explosion brings these two grieving people into each other’s lives. From there they embark on a journey where they learn about themselves, each other and life.

The Law of Moses – Abandoned by his mother when he was child Moses has always felt he was a burden and unloved. When he met Georgia, he wasn’t prepared for the immense love that he had for her, and she had for him as they take us on an heart wrenching emotional journey.

The Vixen and the Vet – Asher served his country with bravery and loyalty until his injuries turn him into a shell of the man he used to be. When Savannah comes into his life to write a story about him they will forge a connection that will change both their lives.

The Wish Collector – Clara is a ballerina who gets to know Jonah before even meeting him. He is tortured by the decisions of his past which have him believing that this is the only life he can have. This is a story of an unconventional love and the healing it can bring.

This a captivating collection by four accomplished authors that gives you insight to their writing styles and doesn’t disappoint.

Four Books, Four Love Stories, One Swooning Reader

What happens when four different authors come together to create a collection of love stories? Absolute magic. Each book in this collection brings its own flavor, its own twist, and its own unlikely couple that had me rooting for them from page one.

From the awkward meet-cute that had me giggling like a teenager to the slow-burn tension that kept me up way past bedtime, every story delivered all the feels. The characters? Perfectly imperfect. The plots? Heart-tugging and oh-so-satisfying. And the romance? Enough to make my heart do cartwheels.

I don’t know how they managed to pack so much hope, love, and swoony moments into these pages, but I was hooked. Whether you’re a fan of all four authors (or just discovering them like a treasure trove), this collection has something special for you.

It’s like a buffet of romance—sweet, spicy, angsty, and funny. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, and honestly? I didn’t want it to end. If you need a dose of love in your life, pick this one up. I promise, it’ll leave you breathless and grinning like a fool.

Rating: 5/5 stars—because you don’t just fall for one love story here, you fall for four!

Grab a tissue box, or maybe two—you’re going to need it for this rollercoaster of love, loss, and grand romantic gestures. This collection serves up four unforgettable stories, each as unique and addictive as the last.

🌍 Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar is the shining star (and my personal obsession). Set in the wild African plains, it’s got everything: heartache, healing, and a love story so beautiful it’ll make your soul ache. Seriously, Leylah, how dare you make me ugly cry and love it?

📚 And then there are the other three gems, each a little masterpiece in its own right. From swoony small-town romance to laugh-out-loud moments and gut-punching emotional twists, every book in this set brings the heat, the feels, and the magic.

Warning: you may find yourself staying up all night, ignoring responsibilities, and possibly rethinking your stance on love at first read. This isn’t just a collection of stories—it’s a whole experience.

Final verdict: five stars, a box of tissues, and my whole heart. Go ahead, dive in—your emotions will never be the same (but, like, in a good way). 🌟

This is a collection of four beloved love stories - Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar, The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon, The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery, and The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan.

My review is on THE VIXEN AND THE VET BY KATY REGNERY. This story is loosely based on my favorite fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast. Savannah Carmichael returns to her hometown with her tail between her legs after her successful NYC journalistic reporter career is destroyed by her boyfriend. Trying to obtain another job in Phoenix, she must write a human interest story and decides to write it on the reclusive disfigured war veteran Asher Lee.

Her goal is to write the story, get the job and get the heck out of Dodge. But the more time she spends with Asher, the less his disfigurement is even apparent to her and the man he is shines through. She falls for him before she even realizes as he falls for her. However, Savannah changes course midstream without notifying Asher and my heart broke for Asher. If any two people deserved to be together, it was Savannah and Asher. I loved this story.

Four beloved and popular independent authors, together for the first time, bring readers their remarkable stories in one book called The Legends. First up is Laylah Attar with The Mists of the Serengeti, a poignant love story set in East Africa based on an actual life event. Next is Amy Harmon with The Law of Moses, a heart-wrenching tale about a baby placed in a laundry basket at the QuickWash and his extraordinary life. Katy Regnery brings us The Vixen and The Vet, a modern retelling of The Beauty and The Beast set against the backdrop of The Star-Spangled Banner. Followed by Mia Sheridan's The Wish Collector, a captivating tale set in mystical and magical New Orleans.

I enjoyed reading two of the four books in this collection back in 2017. With this new edition out, I'm excited to revisit these stories from beginning to end and share my fresh perspective through new and improved reviews of each story. This was such a great chance to read stories from four amazing authors.

The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan

This storyline was a controversial yet magical one of second chances. Not everyone will agree with the MMC receiving forgiveness for his greed and his defense of the indefensible.

The Vigin and the Vet by Katy Regnery

This story was a beautiful retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Who doesn't love that story!

The Mists of the Serengeti by Layla Attar

This was an emotional love story set in the wilds of the African plains. You will need tissues to make it through this one!

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon

This read was about a baby left in a basket at a laundromat and his extraordinary life he led since that day. This was a new author to me and I enjoyed her contribution.

Legends is a limited edition of 4 legendary love stories written by Katy Regnery and 3 new to me authors, Leylah Attar, Amy Harmon, Mia Sheridan. 4.5 stars

Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar, this is Jack and Rodel’s story of loss, pain, darkness, pushing through, finding the light, and more…

The Laws of Moses by Amy Harmon, this is Moses and Georgia story over the course of many years, lots of twists, turns, some paranormal but helps to bring the story along, coming of age, heartache, pain, sadness, deeply emotional read!

The Vixen and the Vet by Katy Regnery is a modern fairytale inspired by Beauty and the Beast. Asher, a military vet was disfigured and lost his hand to an IED in Afghanistan, returned home to live a quiet life away from everyone. Until Savannah, a journalist comes calling with brownies and asking questions…what starts as a human interest story take a turn and divides this couple in ways that will tear you up, emotional, tears, laughter, that turns into a beautiful love story.

The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan is a beautifully written story of two couples, one from the Civil War era and one current. The past is about war, prejudice, hiding love, social status and loss. The present is about falling for someone you have never seen but have spoken to through the stones walls., tears, mystery, finding old war letters, looking for answers and discovering a love above all!

What a fantastic collection of authors and books! This is a great mix of old favorites and new to me authors, and I was even able to check out new books from authors I've read before.

Each book was an interesting read with unique storytelling and characters that hooked me and made this collection impossible to put down. My favorite of the four stories is probably Katy Regnary's The Vixen and the Vet. It is a great modern beauty and the beast retelling.

If you're like me and have a difficult time deciding what to read this is the perfect way to try a few new authors and books at once. They are not connected so you can jump around to whichever grabs your interest.

Thank you to the authors for providing an ARC for an honest review.

This review for The Vixen and the Vet.

There’s something undeniably special about a love story that allows the characters to slowly take down their walls, build a deep and meaningful friendship, and eventually transition into a heartfelt romance. The author has beautifully captured this kind of relationship in a way that feels authentic and emotionally resonant. The development of the connection between the characters was organic and heartfelt, making their journey from friends to lovers incredibly satisfying. This story is a reminder of how the strongest relationships are often built on a foundation of trust, understanding, and genuine companionship.

I am still reading the other books will update my review when done.

Exceptional!
Four top shelf phenomenal authors collaborated for this 4 book collection and frankly it’s a readers’ dream!
Once I started reading I was hooked!
Each author provided 4 standalone novels that alone are unique exceptional stories.
Together you’ll be lost in the rich and complex worlds created by these authors. Stories that are smart, insightful and complex!
I’m not choosing one story over the other because each story is different. However, the main characters are all likable and the stories are gripping and compelling!
A perfect read for when you’re in the mood for some uninterrupted binge reading!

Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar I came to know Jack and Rodel seeing what they had experience together. Sharing what has happen in each other's lives, Travelling through villages, telling the most fascinating stories. Jack shows a lot of
characteristics after looking after others. Bahati's village what happens when you get to each village. As they travel they will find how each and every villager lives and grows custom to being different
from other cultures. Every story is unique in a different way, this story is similar to what I have gone through. Peace, heartwarming, and caring. I received a copy from the author and voluntarily decided to leave a review.

Legends is a limited-edition collection of four stories written by four wonderfully excellent authors. I've read Katy Regnery's book in the past, but it was nice to reread it and is still as wonderful as before, the other authors books are really good as well but I'm partial to Katy's books! I really enjoyed this collection; the stories are great standalones but really flowed nicely together. I highly recommend this collection and these authors in fact I'm searching for other books by these wonderful ladies now.

I received an ARC of this collection and am leaving my review voluntarily and very happily. Well done ladies!

This is a collection of four stories. Each author was new to me and I must admit I'll be looking to read more of their works.
These stories will each pull at your heartstrings. They are live stories but not necessarily in tge exact way we are used to. The storytelling is amazing. Each author draws us in with heartbreak, or a Beauty and the Beast type of story, or maybe its the bad boy genre. Whichever one, or all, that grabs your attention you will find a story that you can't put down.
These four storytellers are wonderful at character development and giving us so much to think about above and beyond the love story.
