Don’t bang your best friend’s little sister. Especially when she’s an investigative journalist and your company is the target of her latest exposé.
Unfortunately, I’ve got a hard-on for high-risk bets, and I’m more than eager to invest my considerable stock holdings in Ellie Seyfried’s…ahem…glorious assets.
Friends with fringe benefits is a sweet deal, but it’s not long before I’m falling harder than the post-bubble Nasdaq, hooked on Ellie’s sweet smile and determination to make the world a better place.
There’s only one problem…
When it comes to risking my money, I’ve mastered every trick in the book. But how the hell do I risk my heart?
***
I’m one puff piece away from tearing up my journalism degree and hurling my laptop into the Hudson River. So when I smell a juicy story brewing at my brother’s Wall Street investment firm, I’ll do whatever it takes to get my scoop.
One clever disguise later, I’m deep undercover as the firm’s newest broker, simultaneously gathering intel and spouting off stock tips like a boss.
Go me, right?
Sure, it sounds good on paper, but there’s a catch: the actual boss.
Chief Executive Panty-melter Jack Holt is cocky. Infuriating. And one smoldering look has me ready to violate every rule in the employee handbook.
Thank God my assignment has an expiration date. Because falling for my brother’s best friend and business partner is a lose-lose proposition. Right?
OMG!!! Like A Boss by Sylvia Pierce and Lili Valente gave me all the feels I love in a great friends to lovers, best friend's sister romance. These two characters are sexy and the attraction is felt right from the start. Their chemistry and witty banter left a smile on my face throughout my read.
Wholly Smokes Jack Holt is one knee buckling character, he is a chief executive for a Wall Street Investment Firm that was started by Jack and his best friend Ian. Both men believe to run a equal opportunity firm, that is until Ian's sister discovers a story waiting to be written. Things get hot and heavy when Jack decides to help his best friends sister and keep secrets that could do damage to his company and break bro code.
Ellie Seyfried is a investigative journalist and can smell a good story, it's taking the chances to write and publish it that may be the problem. First, she has to get past the distraction that she is all to familiar with, and that is her brother's best friend and business partner. The story may be a lot more complicated than she had expected. Going undercover as a man seems to be the least of her worries, it's the questioning co-workers that can put a end to this story before she can even hit print.
Like A Boss is one fun and sexy read that left me feeling giddy throughout my read and even while I'm writing this review hours later, I find myself smiling remembering scenes. I recommend that you fall in love with these two characters as much as I have.
Fantastic! I thought that this storyline was so creative and original, I don't think I've read any contemporary romances similar to it. In order to write a ground breaking story, journalist Ellie Seyfried will have to go deep undercover in the Wall Street world of finance. Good thing her older brother and his (hot) best friend, Jack Holt, own a broker firm. Bad news is that she can't keep her mind off of Jack and the sexy way he controls a board room. This is a romance for the ages. Boy meets girl, boy likes girl, girl cross-dresses as a man and falls for boy.
Like A Boss is a standalone novel by Lili Valente and Sylvia Pierce. I have had the pleasure of reading books by both of these very talented authors so I knew it was going to be a treat to have them writing one together. A delicious, fun, and unexpected treat.
Jack needed a broker. Ellie needed a cover. They both needed a way to make a change.
Ellie needed this story. She was willing to do whatever it took to get the scoop. She was tired of writing puff pieces. She wanted a real story. One that mattered. That was why she was at her brother’s investment company. To get the ins and out of the company’s hiring policies. To write an article about the company and their way of making practices equal for men and women. Only...that is not completely what she found. She knew her brother and his best friend and partner, Jack Holt felt it was important as well. But when you are on top, you don’t always see the bottom...
She was in. She was doing this. She knew Jack want one hundred percent on board with her plan but he believes in her. That was why he was on her side. It was also why he was keeping her secrets. What he was having an issue with was keeping his hands and mouth to himself. He wanted her. He knows she is off-limits but being around her, made him want her even more. And not just in an sexual way either. She inspired him. To be a better person.
She has always had a crush on Jack. She always felt like an awkward mess when he was near. He was sophisticated. She was a hot mess. He was dressed in three piece suits. She wore wrinkled clothes. He worked on the top floor while she worked right next to her refrigerator. But he never made her feel like less. Especially now when he looked at her like he had to kiss her. This was a dream but could they go there? She was writing a story about his company. He was her brother’s best friend.
I read this book in one sitting. I had to know what was going to happen next with these two. They made me laugh, tear up, and get hot and bothered. It wasn’t just all about that though. The story within story is important. Equal rights in the workplace.
Overall...it was a wonderful ride that had an important message. It was blended in perfectly with a fun and sexy romance.
Quotes:
A man who kisses like the world’s about to end, is amazing in a crisis, and is serious about making sure I’m fed? Be still my beating heart…
“I’ve got an idea. Fewer clothes, fewer interruptions from the grammar police, and more time for coming our brains out.”
“I’ve had over a decade of practice. I’m an expert.”
Two of my go to authors collaborate on a sexy romance? Sign me up as I know it will be romance gold. They have a way with words that can make me laugh, cry or get mad with a poignant scene or a flippant one-liner. With Jack and Ellie they delivered yet again!
“They say money can’t buy happiness… But if your lot in life is to be a miserable prick, wouldn’t you rather be a rich miserable prick?”
Brother’s partner/best friend. Ellie and Jack both know the only thing between them should be a lot of platonic dead air but that’s in an ideal world, right? When circumstances find them in close proximity, sharing a thirst for the truth, what actually happens is the exact opposite. What is juicier than a forbidden courtship filled with sultry talk and physical chemistry? Nothing. Absolutely nothing! Especially when it happens between these two.
“… bad boy with a voice like whiskey and a ‘let’s break the rules” glint in his eye.”
“Having her in the office all week has seriously messed with my head. Both of them.”
I really liked these characters. They were down to earth, funny and caring. They made a trope I usually don’t care for into one of my favourite books this year. I laughed out loud as Ellie’s devotion to her mission caught her up in hilarious circumstances, one after the other. Jack was a charmer who had all the right patter yet the heart and soul to make it swoon worthy. Together, they clicked in a way that made me smile, smile, smile….
“I’m not exactly leading a carnal existence. Unless you count my intimate time with a block of sharp cheddar before bed.”
A romantic comedy with added sizzle that leaves me wanting more of the same! ~Diane, 4.5 stars
4.5 Star Review of Like A Boss By Sylvia Pierce & Lili Valente This book was a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed Like A Boss. Sylvia Pierce is a new author to me and one I will be checking out further. I have read a couple of books from Lili Valente and I love her style of writing. Not only were the main characters entertaining but so were the secondary characters and I was engrossed from the start. What happens when friends becomes lovers? Jack Holt has been attracted to his best friend and business partners' sister Ellie Seyfried for a long time and unbeknownst to him the attraction is mutual. Ellie goes undercover in their firm to investigate gender equality in the company.; finding way more than she bargains for she stumbles upon an issue that could bring the firm to their knees. Complications arise when the attraction between Jack and Ellie becomes too much to ignore, what will happen when their relationship is discovered, will Ian understand and what about their colleagues? The chemistry between Jack and Ellie was so hot it was scotching and the banter between the two off them lead to many laugh out loud moments. Like a boss was a fun, quick read that underlines the issue of gender equality in the work place and one I believe was handled extremely well.
What a fantastic book! I listened to the audio version, that was performed by Andi Arndt and Sebastian York. Ellie is an investigative journalist and is writing a piece on the differences between men and women in the financial investment workforce. Her initial investigation turns up nothing substantial since she is investigating her brother's firm and no one is willing to speak candidly. With her brother on travel for a month, Ellie decides to work undercover at the firm and convinces her brother's business partner and best friend, Jack, to go along. What will Ellie discover? Will Ellie and Jack give in to their desires and will their friendship survive? Lots of humor, some drama, and great HEA.
A Review of Like A Boss by Sylvia Pierce and Lili Valente
Ellie and Jack - 5+++++ Stars
Oh. My. Goodness! I totally LOVED this story and the characters! Both of these authors are most excellent in their own rights, but put them together and you get something truly magical and OUTSTANDINGLY awesome! This isn't your normal lust for your best friends little sister story! With all of the heartache that Ellie has been through with losing her mother at a young age and the horrors that Jack dealt with due to the deaths of his parents when he was in high school, there were many reasons for them to be cautious with their hearts. There are soooo many things I would love to tell you about this storyline, but I don't want to spoil it for others. I have to say, I loved the sock (you'll understand that reference when you read the story) and the fact that we get glimpses of the wonderful Portland Badgers (Justin Cruise and his knitting) and the Buffalo Tempest (with Walker Dunn), which pulls both of these authors together. You definitely don't want to miss this one. It is a keeper and top ten for this year.

I like this co-author pairing of Lili Valente and Sylvia Pierce. Together they've written this cute story about recluse journalist Ellie Seyfried who has decided to write an article about her brother and his best friends investment firm. Unfortunately her initial research shows that not all is hanky dory and requests more time to investigate. Since her brother is needed at the new West coast office he entrusts her to his best friend and fellow partner, Jack Holt.
Jack Holt was everything one expects of a hotshot investment/finance guru on Wall Street. Good looking, richer than God, and skilled at the ladies, Jack seemingly has it all. And even though he might have a teeny, tiny crush on his best friends little sister, no one needs to know but him and his right hand. Things change when Ellie decides to go undercover and Jack agrees to help her. Be prepared for a lot of inner turmoil and angst.
The two of them together were all kinds of adorable. I liked how both of them helped each other to be better versions of themselves. Lots of drama with the undercover investigation and the usual ebb and flow of a romance.
All in all I enjoyed this and look forward to reading future collaborations between these two authors.
Loved the narration and the story was refreshing and cute. It also raised some timely issues about gender in the world place. Definitely recommend! "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
“If a mug-or freelance journalist-goes unwashed in the privacy of her tiny Queens apartment, does she smell? I think not.”
It always amazes me how two authors came come together to right one book and it is so seamless that you can’t tell who wrote what. That is EXACTLY what Lili Valente and Sylvia Pierce did with “Like a Boss”.
This is a bit of a gender bender in that Ellie goes undercover as a man at her brother’s business to explore how far companies have come with regards to equal opportunities. This is “not your mother’s Wall Street” was supposed to be a breeze because her brother and his best friend Jack run a company that is so forward thinking, they must be treating everyone fairly. Jack (holy smokes he his H.O.T.) sees through “Eric” right away and agrees to help prove his company is as advanced as he says it is.
Told in a dual point of view, this story has a bit of it everything. Intrigue, mystery, romance, friendship and most of all … Well you need to read it because I’m not going to give everything away.
I absolutely recommend this book and these authors.
Like a Boss was my first time reading Lili Valente and Sylvia Pierce and I’ll certainly be reading more of both authors in the future. They work so well together, and I’m interested in seeing how they work alone – I’m sure the results will be just as wonderful.
I’ll be completely honest, I expected a standard office romance from Like a Boss. Fortunately, my misinterpretation was quickly put right. Sure, this is an office romance, but it also more. It is a brother’s best friend romance, too. It is an insight into the world as it currently is. It also has a lot of other unexpected goodies to be found throughout. Overall, this one offered so much more than the standard office romance I had been expecting to read – I adored it, and I was addicted.
I do feel as though there could have been a bit more depth behind the romance, though. I enjoyed watching the relationship between the two characters grow, I enjoyed watching the scenes that played out, but the warm and fuzzy feelings never quite reached the level I had been hoping for. I enjoyed them, but I would have enjoyed this book even more had the feels been kicked up a further notch.
As a whole, this was a lot of fun. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on the authors in the future.
I Capital L LOVED this book so much!!!! Jack & Ellie are amazing!! They have chemistry for days!! This is such an incredibly original story line that I instantly fell in love with it!! Lili & Sylvia you ladies rock and really made magic together here! I hope there is more collaboration to come, like maybe Ian’s book?? You can’t not fall in love with this couple. It would be next to impossible. There are so many great lines in this book from Ellie & Jack but I honestly don’t want to spoil a thing. When you are not laughing you will be fanning yourself from all the smoldering hotness and “Nuclear Fab-Gasms”!!! There is just SO much goodness in this book but you just have to read it for yourself. It is funny, sweet, witty and sexy as hell! You’ll be smiling long after you finish reading!
Its not that this was bad... it was just boring...... The characters had no real personalities to them just a generic man and woman getting down and dirty at the office!!!!!
Ellie under Jacks supervision goes undercover as a man to her brothers and her brothers best friend (Jack's) Company, to investigate if women are treated Fairly in comparison to men.
The Author could have made this really witty and funny but it just fell short, the characters and story were so bland......
I had the most fun reading this romcom. Just the premise got me hooked because how could I resist a little spy disguised as a man infiltrating a firm to uncover some dirty secrets?
Even though the story unfolded in a different way as I had anticipated, I didn't flinch at the change at all. Not only was the plot addictive and fun, the writing as lively and smart as possible, and the chemistry between Ellie and Jack arousing and hotter than summer kisses, but it also raised important gender issues with a clever, inspiring point of view.
The female character is adorable and driven, and she tries to better the world for women at work through her investigation. Then, the male character is just swoon-worthy with all his manliness, but also his care for her and for his company. I liked it a lot that he was so interested in her qualities and was drawn to not only her beauty but her personality, her goals and her inner strength. And... oh, the steamy moments!!!! They happened when I couldn't wait any longer and they were pure fireworks.
The funny and sexy dialogues and situations won me over. What's more, the story grows into a hell of a fight for gender equality, love and self-worth, and I loved how every element worked together to create this hilarious, emotional and deeply romantic novel. If this duo of writers are capable of this together, I'm all in. Fantastic read!
I just love a best friend’s little sister romance. One that’s smart, funny, sexy and keeps me turning the pages is ideal. And that’s what you’ll find in Like a Boss.
I had so much fun getting sucked down into Ellie and Jack’s world of financial espionage. Jack and Ellie are in this doomed from the start project together. Ellie’s in over her head some days and Jack tries to keep her in check and keep the business running. I love how Ellie really uncovers what’s happening at the investment firm—both as herself and undercover. Ellie disguised as a man and all her mustache issues kept me laughing!
I loved the relationship that blossomed between Jack and Ellie. Loved their smart, snarky, witty, fun banter. And their sexy times. *fans self* Jack and Ellie just work—and they make a terrific team! I couldn’t read Like a Boss fast enough. My stomach muscles earned a workout from my laughter and I still can’t remove the goofy smile off my face! ~ Missy, 4 stars
The novel was on the feminist side of things. Ellie is working undercover in order to find enough data that prove that no matter how hard her brother tries the female and male employees aren't getting paid the same. I liked that aspect of the book since it felt real to me and I found myself been more curious about Ellie's undercover job than her romance with Jack. It was rather underwhelming mostly because I was expecting something more forbidden and Ellie's brother to have some kind of reaction to the news of his sister man. It was a tame story. On the plus side though, the book was good. It made me keep reading past the time I had set to go to sleep and Ellie and Jack had an easy and light romance. At some point in the story, I couldn't exactly understand why Ellie was acting the way she was and that's the reason I am not giving the final star to the book. The parts were Ellie was pretending to be a man were fun.
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
This book is a collaboration between two authors that i really love to read and it was everything i wanted and more.
Jack is the alpha male in charge of a brokerage with Eleanors brother and has known Ellie for years and Ellie wants a story that will take her away from writing puff pieces.
Eli is a strong woman with a nose for a story and for a mystery and there is certainly something at this brokerage that piques her interest other than Jack.
The chemistry is hot and there is not much of the pushing away before they both submit to the chemistry between them. There is a little mystery and twist of the plot that keeps you wrapped into the story and i can't wait to see if these two authors will collaborate together again.
I loved this book but I’m fast becoming a fan of anything Lili Valente writes!! It had all the favorite things! The drama, the comedy, the romance, and most importantly the hot and steamy parts. ;) lol 😂 But most of all this book had a very important and wonderful message behind it. And it will definitely make a lot of sense to us women and even though we’ve made a lot of strides in the issue we still have problems. Ellie is a character and I absolutely love her and her craziness to get what she wants any way she can get it. Jack is just so supportive and so yummy and can’t be much more perfect. I love most of the secondary characters and wouldn’t mind seeing them have a book. I would definitely recommend this book.
I swear Lili Valente's books are freakin phenomenal not only to they sick me in, but they keep my full attention through the whole book. So much so that I want to tell work to kick rocks, I have a Valente book right now. J/k co-workers!
Seriously though, this book was great. The plot was classic and I loved the fact that the brother didn't go all crazy. It's nice to see that once in a while.
That being said, I'm looking forward to this duo collaborating together again soon.
The whole forbidden love romance stories are on top of my list of reads! Like a Boss by Lili Valente and Sylvia Pierce met that expectation and soared with it! A new favorite is falling in love with your best friends sister. Jack was not sure what to do with the situation he finds himself with Ellie, his best friend's Ian sister.
These two are a power couple with a force that can tear down anything. Their passion was off the charts and they have to keep it a secret. I was hoping they would come out in the open right away. But then where is all the drama with that???
Like a Boss is a must read that you will fall in love with! The drama factor made you feel the angst, and the heat factor level was HOT HOT HOT!
First off the narration was over the top fantastic!! Jack and Ellie’s story was very original from what I have read recently. Between walk-in a mile in the other genders shoes and gender equality in the work place there is a love story that is original and fun. This was a quick fun listen that makes you think about attitudes in the workplace, what more do you want for an afternoon escape? 4.5
Meet Ellie aka Eleanor Seyfried. She is a freelance undercover reporter looking for her big story to be published. Her brother Ian and his best friend Jack Holt run S & H an investment company in New York where they focus on famous athletes and have a great business. Ian and Jack feel they are progressive thinking and that they give female employees the same opportunities as their male counterparts. Ellie decides to do an investigation in their company to write an article she hopes to sell titled “Not Your Mother’s Wall Street” to show how things have progressed in the last 30 or so years. Ian and Jack give her access to employees and non-private information to get what she needs to do her piece. Ellie discovers people are not forthcoming with their information to her since she is the sister of one of the owners they work for so Ellie decides to go undercover and become Erik Webb a male wanting to come to work for S & H. Ian is out of the state on business so she puts on a man’s suit, mashes down the “girls”, glues on a fake mustache and away she goes to get Jack to hire her. This is such a well written story not only for the humor and the captivating story line but it also highlights that there is still a difference in the workforce between males and females even with the best intentions. I laughed out loud so many times as well as was heartbroken for Ellie and the struggles she was faced with at times. All of the characters are well written, the side characters definitely add to the story and there are a few surprises as well which keeps things interesting. I received an early copy to read and review with my honest opinion. I loved this book and highly recommend it. You will get a kick out of Ellie/Eric and fall in love with Jack Holt. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Great book.
Great book! I love this story! This book is about Ellie and Jack. Jack owns a business with Ellie’s brother Ian. Ellie is a freelance journalist. While uncover she learns of some problems. The chemistry between Ellie and Jack is hot! I received an advanced reader copy for an honest review. *Magic Beyond The Covers Book Blog*
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.
Like A Boss reminded me a bit of "What A Girl Wants" except with grownup sexy times. It has humor and heart and wit and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I did find it a tad problematic (though I don't know quite how to voice those issues without giving away plot points). Ellie and Jack's relationship was super cute and as I really enjoy the whole "my best friend's little sister" trope, I really had fun with this story. I also really appreciated the way that gender inequality was discussed and the way that the book had a bit of a message without being preachy. I will continue to be trash for whatever Lili Valente puts her name on! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.
Like a Boss is utterly adorable, the characters are endearing, the plot itself challenges perceptions while delivering insight into the topical issue of gender equality. Although the delivery of the morale of the story is wrapped around a wonderful 'brother's best friend' romance ♥
Jack and Ellie have secretly nurtured an attraction to each other for a very long time but their relationship has remained in the friend-zone out of respect for Ellie's brother and Jack's best friend - Ian.
When Ellie pursues a story idea within the financial company Jack and Ian have founded, the chemistry between the pair escalates as does the serious swoon Jack induces. While working at the company Ellie's's story transforms from an insider view of a financial institute to highlighting the discrepancy between the treatment of male and female colleagues from the pay differences to the demands of their and skill set. For example, the careful juggling act women have to develop in order to balance family and career much more than their male counterparts.
With Ian away on business. Ellie takes the opportunity to immerse herself in an undercover expose to gain further insight by looking at the issues from a different perspective. What Ellie doesn't expect is to uncover another story with serious implications for Jack and Ian's company. Simultaneously adding fuel to the fire between herself and Jack.
I am utterly in love with Jack, not only is he a modern man embracing equal opportunities for his staff, he is also an utter romantic with Ellie the beneficiary of all his passion. The way in which Ellie and Jack fall naturally into a relationship adding to the deep connection between them was delightful to follow.
Lili and Sylvia's writing meshes well together providing a seamless progression of the story and the characters while keeping a steady pace alongside a high entertainment factor. There are many humorous moments within the narrative adding to the overall feel-good factor of the story.
I hope to see more collaborations between Lili and Sylvia in the future ♥
Like A Boss is a new standalone by the fabulous duo of Lili Valente and Sylvia Pierce. I’m huge fans of these authors so I was excited to hear they wrote something together. And Like a Boss is fun, fresh, witty, sexy and makes you think. The writing is top notch and the characters are fantastic! Finance has never been this sexy. Ellie needs a big story and she found one at her brother's investment firm. Her brother's best friend, Jack, is going to be her boss. She can totally do this. She doesn't have a huge crush on him at all. What could go wrong? Jack has always had a thing for Ian's little sister, but now that she's in his space on a daily basis, his will is being seriously tested. Even though she's undercover, he can't stop looking at her. Daydreaming about what she looks like under that cover. Ellie is writing a very powerful piece that had me clapping and giving her fist bumps! I want her to rule the world so she can make all the changes! The chemistry between Jack and Ellie is explosive and I love their witty banter. I laughed, got mad, got tingly, got inspired and laughed some more. Ellie is determine and smart! Jack is sexy and fun. Together they are the perfect pair!
"Present-tense lay refers to something you physically do to an object." Fucking hell. I'd like to present-tense lay her, right here.
"I've got an idea. Fewer clothes, fewer interruptions from the grammar police, and more time for coming our brains out."
"Too good, I guess. I'm not accustomed to super magical nuclear powered fab-orgasms. Oh man, Your ego just grew three sizes, didn't it" "Like the Grinch's heart when he brought back Christmas."
"I have a rotating stock. A pun for every occasion."
I did listen to this book on Audible ... I have read Sylvia Pierce before, several of her books, now i have promoted Lili but never read anything from her. So glad I went like a silly person and grabbed this beauty up. I gotta admit it ... i love Andi Arndt voice ... I have lost count the # of reads I have gotten on Audible due to her reading said book ... if you are an author ... u have gotta let her read your book, her voices have such character, depth and fun-ness to it. NOT sure how she does it??! but she does. Kind of like when I think of Sean Connery or Anthony Hopkins (read me a cook book, or the phone book, I'll listen. same here. Go check out Andi's voice and you tell me you don't agree with me??! go on. report back.) Trying to think how to describe Sebastian York? He has a raspy but clear, golly gee goodness kind of sexy voice, but raspy in a good way ... I still wonder how these narrator read these more sexier scenes?? I would so get the giggles. i get the giggles for them. But they pull through and you will love all moments. I really do wonder when these authors pick a narrator do they get lots of options or just pick one without any hesitation??! I am wondering what Lili & Sylvia are hoping from this book? For me I hope ladies in all areas of our world will be allowed to be paid what men make ... if they do the very same job YES so be it ... they do deserve and should be paid the same. I enjoy the idea and how they follow through with this idea (subject) within the book. Did they ever tell what happened to the ending of those 2 employees who were not cool? Trying not to give anything away. no spoilers here. Must read. Must listen of you prefer that style. I look forward to reading more from each of these authors very very soon. CHECK IT OUT! ( :
Like A Boss by Sylvia Pierce and Lili Valente was a fantastic read, one that I didn’t want to end. Ellie is an investigative journalist and is writing a piece on the differences between men and women in the financial business. Her first run doesn’t turn anything up. Thing is, it is sort of odd since she is investigating her brother’s financial investment firm and no one will speak to her. With her brother traveling for a month, she needs answers quick. So she goes undercover at her brother’s firm in order to get answers and convinces her brother's business partner and best friend, Jack, to go along. Oh there were several twists in the story and one of them is how Ellie decided to go undercover. Trust me, I was astonished and amazed at how intelligent and sassy she was. Ellie wasn’t going to let anyone keep her from a story, no matter how she had to get those answers. But Jack, he is such a possessive alpha male. He has answers and he is determined to prove her brother and his company is on the up and up. But what secrets is Jack hiding? How attracted is Jack to Ellie? And what about Ellie’s attraction to Jack? What will her brother do when he finds out everything? OMG this story was smoking hot and full of intense chemistry between the main characters. I loved this semi taboo romance- best friend’s younger sister to lover romance. Oh My! And the ending was the icing on the cake. I don’t want to give any spoilers away so just know this is one story you don’t want to miss.
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
Ellie is a strong woman who decides to go undercover for her latest reporter assignment. However, she didn't count on just how irresistible her brother's best friend and co-CEO of the company would be.
Ellie and Jack have been friends for years. To be honest - Ellie has totally crushed on Jack in the past. So when these two work together on this undercover assignment - sparks fly.
Ellie is a strong female character with strong women themes. Jack is so scrumptiously dreamy and enlightened, but there is still room for improvement on how his company can improve on equal opportunities for ALL employees.
This one is part social commentary, part witty banter that we've come to love in Lili Valente books and plenty of spice. Combining her efforts with Sylvia Pierce is extra special as there are some cool cameos in here.
"Women should have equal opportunities in the workplace, and men should be able to eat cheese any way they want without other men threatening to tear up their man cards." Lol
This has all the wit and humor you can expect from a Lili Valente novel and Sylvia Pierce's addition makes it extra special.
