داستان ادامهی دو جلد قبلی، در مورد دختری به اسم کارا ست که با پدرش از آمریکا به ژاپن اومده و با مسائل مرموزی درگیر میشن، روابط دوستی عمیقی ایجاد میکنه و هیجانش منو تا انتها با خودش کشوند.
کتاب سوم رو یه کم کمتر از دو جلد قبلی دوست داشتم. احساس میکردم این داستان پتانسیل پرداخت بیشتری داشت و نویسنده یه مقدار با عجله تمومش کرد. در واقع جزء معدود کتابایی بود که ترجیح میدادم نویسنده داستانو طولانیتر کنه!
با وجود جذابیت داستان، بیم و امید و کششی که داشت، به خاطر یه سری سوالهایی که برام بیجواب موند امتیازمو از ۴.۵ به پایین گرد کردم. با این حال در کل برام مجموعهی خیلی جذابی بود و علاقهمند شدم کتابای این سبکی بیشتر بخونم.
+ دقت کنید جلد پنج و شش در واقع با هم یک جلده یعنی جلد سوم.

آدم حق انتخاب نداره. آدم نمیتونه تصمیم بگیره عاشق کسی نشه. مثل این میمونه که سعی کنی جلوی طلوع خورشید یا اومدن بهار رو بگیری. ممکنه اینطوری تظاهر کنیم، اما واقعا حق انتخابی نداریم.

خب نمیدونم واقعا زیر سر نویسنده بوده یا شرایطی که من کتاب رو خوندم ولی باید بگم که نسبت به دو مجموعه قبلیش در نظرم کار ضعیفتر عمل کرده. انتظاری که جلد دو در من وجود آورد خیلی بالاتر از کتابی بود که خوندم. کتاب به طرز لوسی درگیر روابط عاطفی کارا و هاچیرو شده بود و با وجود این موقعی که هاچیرو گیر افتاده بود دل نگرانیای کارا ملموس و جدی به نظر نمیرسید.
به نظرم نحوه مبارزه و باطل کردن نفرین هم خیلی آبکی و مسخره بود. به واقع در مجموعه دوم نحوه روندن عامل شیطانی بهتر و ملموستر روایت شده بود.
با این حال دو جا از داستان خوشم اومد. توصیف احساس ساکورا وقتی حس کرد کسی تو اتاقه و نگاهش میکنه فوقالعاده بود. و جایی که رن بالاخره واقعیتو بیان میکنه و در همون آن بلای وعده داده شده سرش میاد.

Another ghost, another legend. The conclusion to The Waking series.
With the new year Kara, her friends, and a lot of her school are looking forward to a fresh start. But already Hachiro has thought he saw the ghost of his old and dead friend Jiro. On a class trip to a nearby mountain, a surprise storm hits, and Ren and Hachiro are lost. Could it be the girls' curse has brought another demon upon them?
So not gonna lie, this series got a bit tedious after a while, but I did enjoy it. There was some good character development, especially in Mai. The romance story is sweet, and I'm not upset with the ending. All in all, I enjoyed this series and I'm glad I read it. I would probably read other books by this author again.

کارا به آن پریهایی که روی دیوار اتاق خوابش در خانهشان بود فکر کرد. به اینکه مادرش روزی که او آنها را با رنگ میپوشاند چه حسی داشت. چیز کوچکی بود، واقعاً کوچک، اما خدایا چقدر با تمام وجودش میخواست که ای کاش آن موقع رنجش مادرش را میدید، یا حتی بعدش، تا بتواند از او عذرخواهی کند.
ای کاش.
دو کلمهای که غمانگیزترین و غریبانهترین کلمات جهان بودند.
پایانی خوب برای مجموعهای جذاب.
جلد سوم (که میشه جلدهای 5 و 6 نسخهی فارسی) با دو جلد قبل کمی متفاوته. نویسنده کاملا هشیاره که توی دو جلد قبلی دستش تا حدی رو شده و دیگه نمیتونه اون تم معمایی رو با وحشت تلفیق کنه و به خورد خواننده بده. برای همین با زیرکی از همون اول میره سراغ اصل ماجرا و به همین دلیله که این جلد بیشتر از اینکه تم وحشت داشته باشه، تم ماجراجویی و ادونچر داره. از این موضوع ناراضیام؟ نه. نتیجهی نهایی بد از آب در نیومده.
رشد شخصیتها توی این جلد کاملا محسوسه. روابط احساسی خیلی قویه و بهترین لحظات احساسی مجموعه توی این جلد اتفاق میافته. روند داستان هم مثل جلدهای قبل سریع و خوبه. فقط نویسنده توی بخشهای پایانی کتاب کمی با عجله عمل کرده و داستان یکی دوتا باگ خیلی ریز داره که ای کاش نداشت، اما میشه نادیدهشون گرفت (البته به همین دلیل یک ستاره ازش کم کردم). در کل پایان به نسبت خوبی برای این مجموعهی جذاب بود.
من حدود یک سال با این مجموعه زندگی کردم و طبیعیه که نسبت بهش احساس خاصی داشته باشم، اما به نظرم این مجموعه اونقدر خوب نوشته شده که بقیهی خوانندهها هم بعد از اتمام کتاب دلشون برای شخصیتهای داستان تنگ میشه. برای کارا، ساکورا، میهو، هاچیرو و تمام شخصیتهای مثبت و منفی داستان.

An excellent wrap-up. I wasn't sure how it was going to tie off as the last in the series; technically the formula could have kept going indefinitely, but it was heartfelt and dramatic. I didn’t think I would be interested in rereading the trilogy after finishing the first book because it was just so dry, but the next two really make up for it. I’m happy to own them.
Oh, and yes my prediction was correct: Hachiko remained best boy, followed by Ren.

The waking series pulls you in and it doesn't you go till the end. I read the first book in one night and found the other two a few years later. If you like Japanese folk lore this series doesn't disappoint. I literally dreamed about the demons in these books after I read them.
Book 1 : n american girl named Kara moves to Japan with her dad who gets a teaching job at the local high school. Sakura is the schools rule breaker she is morning the loss of her sister when see meets Kara and Introduces her to her friend Miho a shy girl. Kara has nightmares a bout a dead girl who turns out to be Sakura's sister who was murdered. Kara tells the girls and Sakura thinks its her sister seeking revenge, but could it be something worse like a demon feeding off Sakura's grief. Can the girls get the ghost to rest before it causes more damage???? read to find out.
Book 2: The girls are back and their putting on a Noh play about a Hannya a snake demon that feeds off female jealousy. Students start to disappear and Kara doesn't think the plays theme is no longer a coincidence she thinks the curse is bad and in the form of the Hannya demon. IS Kara right and how will the girls stop this new demon??? Read to find out.
BOOK 3: The girls are back one last time with one last demon curse of the Noh a Yuki-Onna a snow women. Yuki-Onna lurse men to their death by freezing them like ice-cycles. The friends all go out on a field trip and a student goes missing, the friends know its the curse at it again and this time its Yuki-Onna who legion says lives on the mountain. The worst part is the Yuki-Onna has Kara's boyfriend too who went after the missing student and Kara wants him back. Will Kara succeed will the finds defeat YUKI-Onna???? A Winter of Ghosts is a continuation of The Waking Trilogy and I'm a fan.
In this book there is a snow/winter demon that has started to hunt people from the o.g. curse in the first book. This time-it found Hachiro/Kara's bf. Together, Kara and her friends need to find out how to stop the curse in time to find and/or save Hachiro and each other.
One thing I have to say up front about this book was how much I loved the details in this one. The story was the same structure, but the word-choice was better (imo).
This series is another to stack on my "love" pile of Christopher Golden books. There's a reason I fell in love with his writing in high school/middle school and why I still love it so much.
His stories are creepy and thoughtful. I LOVE the way he tells them.
I am always reluctant to recommend my favorite author books because I don't want anyone to read and dislike it-it would break my heart---so don't read it. Or if you do and you hate it, don't tell me.

خوب من میتونم به این مجموعه شش جلدی نمره بدم از5/3.5میدم.
مجموعه خوبی بود همچنین قشنگ و ترسناک اما برای من شش جلد یخورده خسته کننده شده بود بعضی جلد هیجان کافی نداشت آدم خسته میکرد اما بعضی از جلدا پر از هیجان بود ممکنه این مجموعه شما بخونید عاشقش شید یا دوسش داشته باشید.
اما برای من زیاد جذابت چنداني نداشت چون من بیشتر داستان های پیچیده و غیر قابل حدس دوست دارم.

This was a great ending to an amazing series.
In this story 'A Winter of Ghosts' one final monster/god/spirit comes to wreak havoc on Kara's school Monju-no-Chie. Kara waits on baited breath for something new and terrible to happen. She will never feel safe until the curse is broken. Kara Harper has been haunted for the last year and a half by a curse. All she wants to do is break it and allow her friends and her family to have a normal and happy life.
I have certainly enjoyed this series. From the covers I thought of Ringu or The Grudge. I did not think of how these girls on the cover would reflect the stories within. The cover is definitely a interest grabber. The story within the pages is the keeper.
There is no lifeless story here. All the characters have soul and weight to them. I was with them the entire time. I had my favorites and not so favorites. Christopher Golden wrote the characters so wonderfully that even the bad guys you felt pity for at the end.
If you are interested in Japanese Noh theatre (Japanese drama) read this book. If you are interested in Japanese culture with a bit of horror/mystery read this book. If you like a nice ghost story with old otherworldly gods and ancient monsters read this book.
You will not regret entering into the world of Ama-no-Hashidate and Miyazu City/Bay!!

i was literally stalking the author’s page waiting for this 3rd book to come out. i dl’d it to my fire for $2.99 and devoured it… all i have to say is once i found out the demon they were up against (it’s a different japanese demon each book) was yuki-onna… i was literally GIDDY with joy. she is absolutely one of my favorite japanese spirits, hell i even dressed as her for halloween! the books was fantastic, fast-moving and rich with cultural information surrounding the japanese supernatural. i cannot praise this book (or his last two) enough. its so refreshing to read about a strong, american female teen in a foreign country with such compassion and courage. its simply a gorgeous read! get it now and feel the chill of a winter of ghosts!
