Georgia Arcana #2

Magic in the Moonlight

Rate this book
Audrey Marks could admit that an impulsive marriage to a dangerous warlock wasn’t a good idea. She’d learned her street savvy at an early age, and wasn’t much that could put fear in her…except the feelings developing for her new and not exactly legit husband.
It should’ve been a relief when she discovered his betrayal, it certainly gave her a reason to run. But, she was coming to find out that there were two things she couldn’t escape: her family’s curse…and Israel DeLeon.

Israel DeLeon is a warlock, and though he wouldn’t necessarily call himself evil, others would probably disagree. He had never cared one way or the other about it…until he met her.
His intentions with Audrey hadn't always been pure…but, she’d promised herself to him and he would make her keep that promise.
Getting her to trust him again would be an uphill battle. But, he knew what she wanted above everything: a chance to free her family from the curse that had plagued them. Could he convince her to accept his help?

After all, the best magic his performed together…under the moonlight.

Chi…now what happens when you leave your huzband at home but never go back?

If he is Israel Black, he is coming all the way to a country ass lil town in Georgia full of country ass wolves and get yo ass, lols. This is Audrey’s conundrum. Now, the lady loves her huzband but she don’t trust him. Also, Audrey & her cuzns still have to break the family curse. She does’t need her fine ass man in GA starting no shit. But well, that isn’t Israel’s way. He a shit starter and he is willing to start some shit for Audrey.

Ah! This was sooo good. A warlok and a witch that can shift. Yes! I was all in on this chaotic ride. Israel ass done upped and trumped my love for JT. Whew this 🥷was mean lmao and I high key loved it! The mn ain’t play no games. But as much as he gave, Audrey gave it back. This was a wild ride and I highly enjoyed MITML.

I loved returning to this world and getting to know this family again. I can’t wait for Nessa’s book!

Whoa this entry had lots of twists and turns and really builds out the world Fouche's power. Listen I was crying, laughing, gasping it was truly a roller coaster. Do I completely forgive Israel HELL NO but the sacrifices he made I will allow it. I love JT, so power hungry Israel can suck it. I love love how this book is so much about family and the power of forgiveness, love, and really actively trying to heal from past wounds. Israel gets to benefit from that but Eli's friendship was so soft and comforting, more of that please.

Side note the Seldom family needs to go magic therapy 😐

So many thoughts especially since the book ends on not a cliffhanger but we know some stuff is about to go down. I cannot wait. I loved that grandma Patsy was back she's a star.

Too Many Blind Spots

*****Spoilers*****

Reading this book made me feel like I was a day late and a dollar short the whole time. The book opens on Israel who is trying to track down his wife Audrey who fled to get family's property in another state. Israel follows her there and when they meet, they have to go through certain issues they amassed. Not to mention that they've been married for 4 years and she didn't tell her family. Israel also has some family drama and took over as the vas of his magic wielding family line in place of his sister who's too young and whom he's trying to protect. Israel's grandmother first put Audrey in Israel's way because Audrey has a ton of magic and Israel has to siphon magic to give to his family. Once Audrey found out about Israel's motive when it came to his interest in her, she didn't want anything else to do with him. Oh, and there's a curse. Israel's family cursed Audrey's family, the curse causes the men, who the women in Audrey's family fall in love with, to turn into obsessed super stalkers. Audrey has been pulling disappearing acts throughout their relationship to try and stop it from happening. Anyway, by the end of the book, we get happily ever after and a teaser for the next book.

My major disconnet with this book is that I spent the whole time feeling like I didn't know what was going on. I was so confused I re-read the beginning of the book and went back to make sure I didn't miss a prologue. We're dumped into a relationship and don't understand why Israel and Audrey are separated, which is fine because it adds to the intrigue. However, we don't learn why until much later in the book. The author tosses around a curse without explaining what it is, again until much later in the book so references to the curse are not only frustrating but significantly decreased my interest in it. Add in the character dump with no information to tie once person to the next, understand their relationships to the characters that were already introduced, and I was drowning in a pit of WTF. I couldn't enjoy the story because of it and then aunts and moms are thrown in and more characters connected to others and I just gave up on the book. With that being the case, I couldn't appreciate the danger, or passion, or revelations, or storyline. Perhaps I should've read the first book in the series? Except I wasn't interested in that story as much as I was this one.

I'm going to be honest - going into this book I was a TAD disappointed because I really wanted to focus some more on Nic and JT because I have a soft spot for Wolf-shifters... But from the very first page of Magic in the Moonlight and after meeting Israel in all of his power-hungry, cocky warlock swagger, I was ALL IN.

What worked out even better was that, as I predicted, I DID get to see a bit more of Nic and JT since they were periphery characters, but I ended up LOVING ready about Israel and Audrey.

In this second installment of the Georgia Arcane trilogy (I'm assuming it will be a trilogy) we get a TON of answers as it relates to the Fouche family curse. Dria did a GREAT job of weaving the love story and romance into the mystery and magic of everything without the story feeling disjointed or as if either of the main elements in this story were out of place. The story was very well written, the characters are endearing and ones that you want to root for. The stakes were high on all fronts and I absolutely loved every minute of it.

I'm excited to see where the next, and possibly final, book will take us. We have to take a deep dive into Ness' story and apparently things are about to get PRETTY dicey for the Fouches, requiring them all to have to be on their A-game to battle against their next big challenger.

I loved every bit of this book. We got so into it when her cousin came in first but Audrey stole and held her spot so well. Because first of all, miss had a WHOOOLE husband her family or the readers knew about. Second said husband was about magic control and his family was those hoity-toity kind. And third, her husband's family turns out to have been the one that cursed hers. Chile, I was buckled in for the ride as Audrey ran and Israel chased with his moral support keeper his best friend so he wouldn't act all foolish. The tangled family tale is done so well. The second chance to their love, his atonement, the untangling of the family curse *or trying to*, the changing of leadershinp, the reunion of bonds frayed. I looooved this book so much, coz there's drama and people not with the shits. Can't wait for Ness's book.

it’s a family affair

Audrey has a big secret that she can no longer hide because he won’t be hidden. He’s coming for her and nothing and no one is going to stop him from getting who belongs to him.
The gangs all here! The family is on Fouche land and they’re ready to end this curse. Not is the Deleon matriarch has anything to say about it. BUT her grandson Israel is Audrey’s big secret and he’s willing to do what it takes to keep Audrey even if it’s severing the hold his grandmother has on him and the Fouche women.
I enjoyed this read! So much action and never a dull moment!
Great read!

Book 2 of a 3 book series

I’m writing my reviews after completing the series. Book 2 of the Arcana series revolves around the second cousin of a trio of witches. Having solved their grandmother’s murder, the trio (along with their family) work to break the family curse with some help from a surprise source.

Dria Andersen does a great job of making each story unique and interesting. The close knit family, traditions, love, and (unrelenting) good natured teasing resonates so much with Black family traditions. I love this paranormal series with an all-Black cast. The heat is great too! Another great series. I look forward to reading more by Ms. Andersen.

So good….

This was not at all what I was expecting it to be but I LOVED it!!! You absolutely need to read the first book or you will be lost but I loved the pace of the story. Dria got to the why pretty quickly and nothing felt dragged out. I really loved Israel and Audrey….. they felt like two sides of the same coin which made their story GREAT. I wouldn’t say this is a second chance romance but it definitely is reminiscent of that. Now I get to impatiently wait for the third book. Dria has a forever reader in me now!

🌑🐺🧙🏽‍♀️

This series just keeps getting better and better! I was ready to strongly dislike Israel from jump and I did because he was a sheisty 🥷🏽. But once all the chips fell where they were, all pretenses were dropped and Audrey was allowed to see his truth, I gave him a chance. So glad I did because their story turned out to be so powerful and beautiful! Fouche/Taylor Gang 4 Life! lol

I love this series

Israel wants his wife back. Audrey wants absolutely nothing to do with her husband. But in order to break the Fouche family curse, they’ll have to work together.

I am continuously enjoying this series, but I really loved Israel and Audrey. They were a fun couple in that they really had some things to work through. And it was nice to get to the bottom of the Fouche family curse.

If you like second chance romance and family feuds, then this is for you.

Awesome

Book two of this series has definitely outdone book one. This series has a movies ready story line. This particular book has the perfect combination of drama, love and family. Israel was really a great bad guy turned good guy, alpha male and perfect for our delicate Audrey.

Israel Black should have had to work a lot harder for forgiveness. That fact that he didn't is why I can't rate this any higher. Yes, he played a part in the big curse, but the transgression committed was still fucking huge. Love doesn't fix everything.
