One wintry day, a childless couple build a child out of snow. Taking pity on their creation, they bring the snowchild inside, but, of course, the snowchild melts by the fire. But, it turns out that the snowchild has magically transformed into a real child for the couple to love and adore.

I read this book as a young child and adored the story and its wonderful illustrations. It's a charming story and adds magic to the idea of crafting beings out of snow. It's filled with love, lore, and long-lasting charm.
