What do you think about Greenland becoming part of the US?

I personally think this is something other than getting Greenland for the U.S. Trump for better or worse is playing a different game.

Interesting days!
All the talk from Trump has Greenland officials talking independence. It would be harder for the US to acquire a sovereign nation than to buy someone else's territory.Best case scenario for Trump. Greenland follows through and declares independence from Denmark. To fund their new government and become self sufficient, Greenland will then have to open itself up to oil and mineral exploration and extraction. Trump steps in to make an agreement allowing American companies to extract and acquire those resources. He might get an expanded military presence in Greenland as part of a deal. Greenland gets to chart its own course, reassured that the US is a fiend, not an adversary. Trump gets everything he wants without the headache of administering the island.
My latest thoughts on the US acquiring Greenland mirror my thoughts on all the sovereignties Trump has expressed interest in, including Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Iran and the Gaza Strip...We have entered the new era of
MIGHT IS RIGHT
in which the world's self-declared leading superpower does whatever it wants to do.
I predict 2026 will be cataclysmic.
Russia has shown that large states can attempt to take from smaller ones — and the world did not truly stop it.In many ways, it adapted and accepted a new reality.
Perhaps we are standing at the threshold of a return to an age of empires, where power matters more than rules.
History has a way of repeating itself when we convince ourselves that it can’t.

Great post but maybe edit "fiend" to friend.

I will take your bet and make this plain statement, it will not be cataclysmic. This is geopolitics as its best.
I think it is right for China to invade Taiwan, Mongolia, and take a few Islands. This might also be the right time for India to invade bangladesh, nepal and Myanmar.
Does anyone want New Zealand? We have natural resources aplenty...namely the All Blacks, sheep, the cute Kiwi (bird), the Maori haka, more sheep...
I can't think of any more, but I'm sure it'll come to me...
Watch this space!

P.S. Salutations to you and keep up the good work at your end!

...geopolitics at its best or worst?
Lance wrote: "...geopolitics at its best or worst?..."This is geopolitics as it works and I do not see it in of itself as good nor bad.. I suppose where you stand looking at it it may matter. Your list has very different situations and causes. Yet it is all geopolitics.
I think you need to look at each situation as separate and then look at the bigger picture as it affects each situation and is affected by each situation.
As for Greenland, the U.S. will NOT invade Greenland. It WILL NOT happen. Trump for better or worse is trolling people. Greenland is going to declare independence as is their right. The U.S. already has a very large military base there and this is not what you think is going on.
Lance wrote: "...geopolitics at its best or worst?"Considering that the bottom end of worst geopolitics includes the Second World War in which about 10 million people per year (mostly civilians) died for seven years, Trump trolling Denmark over one of its colonies barely registers.
I'll let the curator of Battleship New Jersey explain the real issue.

The only thing I will ask, given Greenland is the topic at hand, is can we be certain the grand masterplan is not something so simple as selling ice to the Eskimos? :)
