Short review: I honestly think I should change my username to The Jaded Reader. Anyway, Idle Bloom has a set of interesting characters that readers would have definitely loved to know more of, but wasn't able to because of the glaring amount of sex all throughout. The book is composed of 70% sex scenes and 30% of the actual story. Granted it's erotica, but by trimming down some of the pages dedicated to those detailed carnal impulses, readers might have had more time to know, appreciate and sympathize with the characters and the stories they have to tell.

Review snippet: Love Bites takes its readers through the emotional rollercoaster one experiences with love. Beyond romantic relationships, the book showed different relationships particularly how they're affected by heartbreak. Though falling short of my expectations in certain areas, its story is relatable to today's millenials who are simply trying to find their way in love and life.
Longer version of the review below (may contain spoilers) (view spoiler)[ What do you do when you fall in love with your best friend’s boyfriend?
There it was: the question I had been asking myself since that first day. The day I met him. The day that changed everything.
Truth be told, I had a hard time starting this book. Upon reading those very lines, I was stumped as to whether I should still read it since the premise has already been set. I did finish the book. It had met my expectations and surprised me in some areas as well.
The good Love Bites, dare I say it, is a story you'd typically hear from millenials. It's a good thing as it makes the characters, particularly the main character Justine, relatable. From falling in love with the worst person, to neglecting and rekindling friendships, the story was able to capture how each person journeys through joys and heartbreaks, as well as the good and bad decisions people in their 20s and 30s make.
Apart from that, what made me continue reading it is how it introduced the premise of self-worth and self-love. I was interested as to how the main character would progress as an individual throughout the story. Indeed, there were some parts that showed her growth, albeit waning throughout the entire story.
The bad And that is where I get down to the off-putting parts of the story. I honestly wanted the book to finish off with her not entering into another relationship just yet. Sure, maybe hint it out that she finally ends up with her friend (and a decent one at that). But what was all that self-love journey for? There were parts that alluded to it, but did not really end up solidifying that feel that she has finally grown. In my opinion, it would have been better if we saw how she grew into her career, maybe even have gotten a pet or two, and just have been an awesome godmother to her godchild.
Or maybe that's just my jaded millenial self talking.
Love Bites, despite its lighthearted-sounding title, shows us how easy we can get lost in the ruminations of our daily life, particularly with our relationships. At the end of the day, what we first need to find and love is ourselves and by then, can we begin to give others the love they deserve.

So when Bailey, Mink's actual name, goes to live in Alex's hometown - without him knowing just yet - she has set her eyes on finding out who he really is, Artful Dodger style. What she never expected, however, is her growing hate-love relationship with the town's beloved Porter Roth. Confused, should she deck or kiss Porter or maybe keep on lookout for her long-time crush, approximately.
I've been on a reading slump lately and it has been hard for me to finish reading books since last year. I've been seeing this series on my feed and I got curious. A monster who feeds on souls? Color me interested. And so, I began.
In summary, I loved the whole concept of the monsters inside this world. They were unique to me and I couldn't get enough. I also love the underlying concept of friendship, family, and acceptance all throughout the book. I am now hyped up to read the second one. Fingers crossed that I get to finish that one too....more
