I have just finished this book after literally picking it up this morning which is kinda ironic and I have no idea how to feel. Was it an interesting concept? hell yea. I couldn't put it down but I don't have any answers, I don't think I'm invested enough to continue on with the series and learn more because although the book was interesting and I really enjoyed each of the "side characters" I didn't really like A or Rhiannon for completely seperate reasons and for a story so centred around these 2 characters that's pretty important. Maybe one day my curiosity will get the better of me and I will read the next books and get my answers...more

This one was such a hard one to review for me. It tackled all of the issues in a way that will start great conversation. It ticked every box and I think that's why I couldn't rate it any higher. I felt like it was trying to hard to cover everything that it didn't really have much of a plot or really engage the audience.
Yes, the writing was great but I couldn't connect with Emma at all, and I just felt like it could have done more. From an emotive level it was really lacking. I think if I hadn't of read All The Rage by Courtney Summers at the start of this year I might have rated this a little higher,
Overall I felt like this was a little over-hyped but something I feel would be great to be read in a classroom for teenagers to discuss. So this review might not actually help you decide if you want to read it. I am fence sitting....more

It feels like every where I turn, every bookish social media account I find people are raving about this book. I've never really had much luck with books as hyped as I'll Give You The Sun but after one of my closest friends couldn't stop talking about it I knew I just had to give it a go.
It took a little bit for me to get into the writing style but once I did, I could not get enough! The story itself is beautifully tragic. Love, loss, family, self-discovery and passion seep through each page and you cannot stop thinking about it when you put it down.
"This is what I want: I want to grab my brother’s hand and run back through time, losing years like coats falling from our shoulders."
Watching Noah and Jude try to desperately get back to being NoahandJude was a rollercoaster ride and was so imperative to finding themselves.
My favourite chapters were the Noah chapters. His and Brian's story was so interesting and I just wanted one more chapter at the end to fully resolve their story, not just see it through Jude's eyes.
This book proved that miscommunication is not just a couple issue and that it can rip families apart. Never assume anything and just talk to those you love, that is the true meaning of this book. ...more

"A slip of the hand, a freaking illusion with light. Because they forgot I don’t exist And when they remembered, I wanted to crawl into the deepest, darkest hole I could find. Because I knew—for a moment— What it felt like to be someone."
This is a tricky one to review, I really enjoyed the supporting characters and the overall development of the main character (who I wasn't a fan off in the beginning). I also liked the 'Strangers Manifesto' chapters and how they reminded the reader as the storyline progressed in other directions that the "bomber" was still out there. The writing style was clear and engaging, and I really enjoyed watching her family unit develop, as well as her branching out and embracing new friendships and new experiences. Unlike a few other reviews I read, I enjoyed the romance, I felt that yes there connection did seem to be from a physical attraction but that is normal for teenagers, you don't generally find the love of your life at 17 and the relationships you have at that age are not always complex.
However I think the story tried to do to much at once, it tried to be both a beautiful contemporary about growing up (which it did really well) and a suspenseful thriller (which it didn't do as well). The bomb threat is what bought all of these characters together and the playing cards and freaky calls were definitely interesting but not enough to make the reader really sit on the edge of their seat.
Overall I did enjoy this book and would recommend it to anyone who feels like they couldn't read a straight contemporary who needs something else going on in the overall plot. (This is not a bad 3 stars).

What an interesting and unique read. I really loved the writing style, it added a great element of realism to the story. I actually really didn't 3.75
What an interesting and unique read. I really loved the writing style, it added a great element of realism to the story. I actually really didn't like Greg as a character, I found him very rude and shallow and I felt like his character didn't develop a great deal either. Although I had heard this book was hilarious I still thought it would be more moving, but as Greg points out, this isn't Rachel's story, this is Greg (mainly) and Earls and how they dealt with her circumstances. Overall the situations and dialogue were hilarious and the story entertaining but nothing amazing....more
