Honestly I think I’m cursed. Every TIME I read something it just ends up being a mediocre read. I am not even sure whether it’s because I get my hopes up. Imagine watching a creepy zombie movie in a cinema? With its massive sound system? It’d be MAGIC ...more

I lost my father as a kid. A 13 year old kid. I was just so confused with everything. I kept hoping that perhaps it was all a dream and he’d come home from work in the late afternoon as I was playing game on the computer and he would ask me to stop playing and let him play instead. But the reality is that he never came home. No matter how long I waited for him. It was not a dream and I had to accept the reality.
So when I finished the book, I was overwhelmed with the feeling of gladness that the book is fictional and there’s no such thing as magical soil or land. Was Louis wrong? Yes, he was. Was his action awful? Yes, it was. What he did was utterly frightening. It chilled me to the bones.
But the scariest part is that I did understand him. That’s why deep down, I’m glad that it’s all fictional because I wouldn’t trust myself, if there were real magical soil or land and that’s what makes this book horrifying. It makes you contradicts yourself while you also know it’s so deeply wrong.
I gave this book 3 stars mainly because of the plot. It was extremely slow and everything was describe. So the dialogue weren’t that many. I was pretty tired reading it due to the length of the description. But again, this book made me think a lot after I finished it. It was definitely thought-provoking....more

This book is the best in the series by far. It has haunted village and cannibal ghost. Honestly, I didn’t think much of the first book. But then, the story captivated me. In other words, this series yearned me to continue reading it and this book right here is THE BEST in the series.

Frankly speaking, I was pretty hesitant when I started reading this book. It was mostly because of the pages of the book. Lol. It’s thick and thick books usually make me nervous. However, as I delved into this book, it was very fascinating.
I still do not understand about the map though and when the characters talked about “dial”, I honestly did not understand even though I tried to comprehend the map, but it’s just puzzling. Nevertheless, I understood the plot. I didn’t have any expectation reading the book. I didn’t even know what the book was about. It’s probably why I enjoyed it. It was such a surprise read! The plot was original. Unlike anything I have ever read before. Truly fascinating. The author is brilliant to come up with such ideas and plot.
As much as I liked reading the plot, I didn’t really develop any attachment toward the characters. It’s not that they were boring. In fact, they were unique and their internal thoughts were also complex. But, I somehow didn’t fully “connect” with them. Maybe it’s because I read it for too long? Nevertheless, the characters were not annoying and dull.
If you haven’t read this book, I recommend you to read it. It was a slow-paced book. But it was worth it. The plot was unique and original. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••...more

"There are some things that can't be changed with words. Some things have to be seen. They have to be felt."
First of all, my heart is still broken with the fact that I accidentally got this beautiful book soaked up. Now the book is crumpled and stiff AND I AM SO REGRETTING IT. Anyway, this book should've been 4 stars instead of 3.7 stars. Don't get me wrong, it was good! AND there is enemies-to-lovers-trope which is my TOP favorite trope. I honestly will never get tired of reading this trope. It's just so cute, funny and melt my icy heart you know. But I cannot give it 4 stars because as much as I liked this book, I cannot deny that there were times that I got bored and I wanted to skim reading it. So let's talk about the plot first.
The Plot
OMG. The plot is truly brilliant and it was enjoyable. It was slow-paced but not dragging. So the pacing was great! and what I love from slow-paced book is that I've got the time to get to know the characters and the world within the book. I was slowly absorbing the information and also the story within the book because for me personally when information are dropped all at once or too many, I become overwhelmed and tired instead. So it was really great that the book gave the information slowly but not too long. However, I wasn't really that excited at the beginning of the book. It was kind of boring at the beginning, but thankfully it did not stay that way for long. It became engaging and made me forget the time while I was reading it. But nearing the end of the book, I got bored of it and wanted it to be done. I even contemplated to skim reading it. But then again, the plot caught my attention again. So I've got mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, the book captured my attention, but on the other hand, there were moments where I just couldn't wait to finish it.
The Characters
I LIKED THE CHARACTERS. It took me a pretty long time to get attached to the characters. Well, not really attached but they grew on me and I started to like them more day by day. My favorite character was Coco. She was such an admirable character. I NEED A BEST FRIEND LIKE COCO. The one who stands by the best friend's side and fights for the best friend. Her characterization was truly amazing. She was such a loyal and fierce friend and she was funny! she made me laugh a lot of times. The other character that I liked was Lou. She was a truly strong-willed character and I loved that. But sometimes I didn't like her when she was being rude which quite often? well, I didn't count but there were a couple of times where I just didn't agree with her actions. AND NOW ABOUT REID. I swear he's fucking hot. lol. But I admit he annoyed me several times especially in the beginning BUT he slowly grew on me and it was so fascinating and a quite thought-provoking for me to read about the development of the characters of Reid and Lou.
The Romance
Such a love was not something of just the heart and mind. It wasn't something to be felt and eventually forgotten, to be touched without it in return touching you. No ... this love was something else. Something irrevocable. It was something of the soul.
I LOVED THE ROMANCE. The book truly made me tear up about the romance AND I don't cry often while reading these days but the romance in this book managed to make me tear up. The love in this book was so hard for me to describe because it was beyond beautiful. I could never be able to put it into words of how wonderful it was. It was a love that put into tests, but it got stronger and stronger with each tests until it was unbreakable no matter what happens. Seriously, the romance in this book made me hopeful and soften my heart. Oh and the romance within this book is enemies to lovers. IT WAS SO GOOD. I loved to read about the banter of Lou and Reid. It was so heart-warming to read about their interaction.
Oh and for me personally this book is YA but kind of mature YA. There is sex scene in this book. I just feel like I need to point this out because before this year I personally used not to want to read a book with a sex scene because I was just not ready and a bit uncomfortable to read it. I just point it out so that you'll decide whether you still want to read it or not.
Overall, it was good book. I recommend you to give this book a try. The characters were admirable, the plot was pretty intriguing AND a beyond-beautiful romance. Thank you for reading and liking this review. I appreciate it very much. I hope you all have an fabulous weekend!

I was supposed to review this book two months ago, but well ... I was pretty lazy that time after getting all my examinations done. So here I am reviewing this book! I'm honestly glad and happy to be back reviewing. It's one of the things that I love to do ... when I am not feeling lazy. :p
To be honest, I read this book because I heard it's Mulan retelling? and I love Mulan so much that I literally will read anything that is Mulan retelling. It's kind of complicated to describe how I feel toward this book. It was a bad book, I quite enjoyed reading it in the beginning but then when I was nearing the end of the book, I just couldn't give the book my attention and I seemed to get restless every time I read it. It's like I managed to find myself some distractions and when I finished reading the book, the only feeling I felt was relieved because it meant I could finally read something else.
The plot of the book was neither fast nor slow. It was the right pace. But the deeper I went into the story, the more boring it became. I initially got thrilled in reading the book, because it TOTALLY sounded like a book that I would adore and show to my friends how I loved it. However, it did not happen. What happened was that I got bored reading the book. It was just that I somehow could not get myself entangled with the plot of the book or just immersed myself in the competition within the book. I don't know why, but I was just bored with the whole story. Maybe it was because I had expectations of the book because I expected to read an action-packed book that left me wondering and exhilarated. But I mostly did not feel anything while reading. But, there were also moment where I felt sorry to Maia and hoped for a better situation. But, I still remember clearly that nearing the end of the book I just wanted it to be over already and I admit I skimmed reading it a bit.
The main characters are Maia and Edan and I don't know what to say about them. I did not dislike them, but I did not adore them at the same time. They're just fine. I loved Maia's determination and Edan could be funny sometimes and I quite liked the interaction between him and Maia. They often bickered over petty things, but it's entertaining and made me laugh. I guess, if Edan hadn't been quite funny, I wouldn't have been able to finish reading it. I guess those are the only things I could think of about the main characters. There is a romance in the book. I wouldn't really call it enemies to lovers, because I don't think they hated one another. It's just one them regarded the other one as annoying person. The romance is definitely slow-burn, but IT WAS DULL. DRY. LACK OF SPARK. TEDIOUS. I just couldn't feel anything for the romance.
All in all, I did not regret reading the book. It was quite good in the beginning, but I couldn't put my full attention to the book nearing the end due to boredom. Thank you for reading the review and liking it! I appreciate it very much. Hope you all have a fabulous day!

I'm so relieved right now that I can just sit down and review this book because I had been very busy with final examinations and assignment for the past few weeks. *phew* okay, let's the review begins!
My Opinion Time!
I have watched some of the episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and while I am not really a fan of BtVS, I still like BtVS. It's really fun to watch and funny! even though I did not know much about Btvs, I was still excited to read this book. Moreover, that cover sort of looked spookey and compelled me to read it.
So I was in reading slump when I read this book and let me tell you that I that I am so grateful to read this book and also to Ms White because this book totally SLAYED my reading slump. However, I cannot give this book more than 3 stars because while I am grateful the book saved me from reading slump, the book was not amazing. Like the kind of amazement that leaves you gaping and grins or clap your hands or hug the book. But still it was pretty good though.
The Plot
The plot was fun to read and this book was action-packed which what I needed at that time when reading slump hit me. The book was filled with adventures and they were pretty exhilarating to read. So I didn't have time to be bored while reading it because I actually did not have the time to do it and the book simply did not give a chance of a boring moment. Every moments in the book were interesting and made me curious and questioning everything. The pacing was slow and it did not rush anything. It's like every moments took their own times in the book but they did not drag on though. The pacing was just perfect and I had nothing to complain about it.
There were also some references of Buffy and some characters that I knew from BtVS and I honestly got so excited when I read those references because strangely it kinda felt nostalgic for me like they were old friends of mine, even though I've only watched some of the BtVS episodes and not all.
The Characters and The Romance
You know I would totally give this book 4 stars without batting an eye, IF ONLY I could like the main character (s). So first of all, Nina is the main character. Even though I did not have any connection to her and I just felt like I was merely reading without feeling anything, she was a sort of refreshing character. So it's not like she suddenly became kickass heroine. Sometimes she was clueless and did not know what to do but it did not mean she was hopeless. There were also times when she knew what to do. So it's refreshing you know to read this kind of character. The kind of character that also has vulnerability and also strength at the same time. BUT again I did not have any connection to her and she did not really get me excited.
AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON LEO. That guy was one dimensional character. He lacked personalities and I don't know what else to say. He bored me so much and he made me want to cry tears of boredom. How could a character be this boring? and just not memorable and I could not feel any spark of romance between Nina and him. The romance was just bland and lack of intensity or some kind of bond that I could feel. It's pretty sad because I was hoping that I would love their romance :(
[image]
But thankfully! there were characters that I liked. They were Artemis and Honora. Artemis was not really a remarkable character but she's a good sister to her twin sister, Nina, and she loved Nina very much and I admit that Honora could irk me a bit because she could be pretty annoying but Honora's relationship with Artemis was so sweet and I could feel their feelings and love for each other. There was a scene that made me so soft in the inside and made me squeal! I wish I could see their interactions more. Basically, I LOVED their relationship.
Oh and I also liked Rhys and Cillian! They made me laugh and this couple made me smile several times because I was happy for them and the love for each other was palpable. These characters made the book fun to read and made feel this warmth every time I read them.
If you haven't read this book. I think you should give it a try because it's a pretty exciting book and if you're a fan of Buffy then I think you'll feel very nostalgic when you read it.
Thank you very much for reading this review and liking it! I hope you all have an amazing day.

I read the first book years ago. There was something about the book that was so captivating. I typically did not veer toward paranormal genre. However, I did make the right choice by reading this series. Some of the things that I made me decide to continue reading the series were the characters and the humor.
This book was good enough. However, it wasn’t as good as the first book. The plot wasn’t as funny nor as intriguing as the first book. It lacked something that I couldn’t point my finger on. It was still a good book. But compared to the prequel? Not good enough.
The friendship between the characters felt strain? I didn’t think their chemistry was as strong as in the first book. Moreover, the plot wasn’t truly exciting. The ending was rushed out and kind of anticlimactic. However, I do think that if you haven’t read this series, you SHOULD definitely try reading the first book. It was adventurous, humorous and original.
You’ll be missing out great adventure, if you don’t give yourself a chance of reading this series. Will I read the 3rd book? There’s a high chance I will. But it will not be in the near future. I always delve into the world of this book when I miss the characters and the story once again in the future.
Thanks for reading and liking this review! I really appreciate it. Hope you all have an amazing day ❤️

"My view is: with you and George on my team, nothing can stand in our way."
The problem has been happening for over 50 years. This problem is an epidemic of supernatural phenomena (ghosts) and there are agencies to help people to deal with their supernatural problems or the supernatural threat. Lucy Carlyle is a girl who works for an agency called Lockwood & Co. and the leader of this agency is Anthony Lockwood. So they have this one case that doesn't end well and involving fire and because of this they need to pay for the damage and they only have 4 weeks to pay up or it will involve court proceedings and lockwood & Co. can be shut down. So now, they need to save the agency and this problem of theirs leads them to one of the most haunted houses in England.
so you're probably are wondering how much money do they have to pay? and what happens with that case that doesn't end well? and can they save the agency? and will they survive at the end? and what will happen inside the haunted house? well, you have to read the book yourself to know the answers. :p
My Opinion Time!
So, it's been a pretty long time since I read a book about ghosts or in the genre of Paranormal. To be honest, Paranormal isn't really my favorite genre but sometimes I still want to read it if it's about ghosts. But if it's about Vampires or Werewolves or fallen angels, etc, I'll just pass. But, it doesn't mean they're not good. it's just that I'm not a fan of them and if you like them, then I totally respect your opinion! :D

This book has been on my want to read list since last year ( I guess ). But it wasn't my priority so I didn't even remember it (sorry not sorry) and before I read this book, I tried so hard not to have high expectations about it because I WAS SO TIRED OF DISAPPOINTMENT.I still am actually and thank God, this book didn't disappoint me at the end but I'm pretty sure it would disappoint me if I set my expectations high before reading it.
Most of the time when I read this book, I just felt plain to the plot and the characters. I didn't feel amazed or excited but this book made me curious about how it would end. Seriously, if this book didn't make me curious, I would abandon it and start another book to spend my time. oh and this book didn't scare me at all.Look, I might didn't set my expectations high before reading it but I thought this book would scare me at least. But it didn't. I shouldn't have expected this would happen because I rarely got what I expected
[image]
I honestly don't know whether the problem is within myself or it's the book's fault but the more I think about it, I realize that books rarely scared me and there are two books that actually scared me and I always get confused every time I think about the characters. look, they weren't boring but they weren't fascinating either. They were just ... simple? fine? but thankfully, they were quite funny and I laughed a little bit while reading it.
Overall, I quite enjoyed reading it and it was worth my time and I didn't regret reading at all. I had a quite good time with this book but I would be happier if I enjoyed it more, actually. However, I still don't know whether or not I will continue reading this series. But you'll know when I do. ;D

this book had been sitting on my shelf for months (I don't exactly remember when I ordered it)REVIEW TO COME TODAY.
*THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MILD SPOILER*
this book had been sitting on my shelf for months (I don't exactly remember when I ordered it) but I do remember after it arrived at my home, I didn't instantly read it because I wasn't in the mood to read this book and I was also afraid because that time I had high expectation for this book, so I decided not to read it that time and the time I was in the mood for reading it came few weeks ago and my expectation was not high anymore so I thought I would enjoy it and I was right, I enjoyed it but I found something that prevent me to give this book 4 stars and these are the reasons why I gave this book 3 stars :
The Characters
the only character I liked was Millard Nullings because he could make me smile and laugh and I really really liked him but he was just the only one and the rest of the characters were plain and boring. I don't even know why I didn't feel connected to Jacob or Emma or anyone and I was also having a hard time to remember all the characters names and In the end I still didn't remember their names. The only names I remember are few, those are :
- Millard ( obviously because I liked him so much ) - Jacob ( he's the main character so yeah I still could remember him very well ) - Miss Peregrine - Emma ( this girl was quite annoying, so it was easy to remember her ) - Dr. Golan
I think that's all ... and I tried to remember all the characters especially all the peculiars but I somehow just couldn't remember them but basically the main problem was just I couldn't connect to any of the characters ( except Millard ).
The Romance
I didn't like the romance at all, I felt the romance was like forced to happen and it was also ... weird. I mean how could Jacob kiss Emma?! she used to have special relationship with Abe and Abe was Jacob's grandfather and there was this scene where Miss Peregrine said
"When Abraham left to fight in the war, he took all our hearts with him, but Miss Bloom's especially. Yes, they were admirers, paramours, sweethearts."
and Jacob already knew that Emma used to have special relationship but that didn't stop him from liking her. it's okay if he liked her in just friend way but he didn't like Emma that way and Emma also liked him. isn't that weird for Emma and Jacob? I know Emma should move on but not with Abe's grandchild! that's ... it just doesn't seem right in my opinion and this romance was kind of Insta-Love and Insta-Love was one of my bookish pet peeves and there was one scene that made me very very uncomfortable.
And then we were kissing. The profoundness of our lips touching and our tongues pressing and my hand cupping her perfect white cheek barred any thoughts of right or wrong or any memory of why I had followed her there in the first place. ...
at this scene I was like
[image]
and the only thing that made me give this book 3 stars was only
The Plot/The Story
just like I said my expectation was low when I finally read this book and I think the story or the plot was better than my expectation so I quite enjoyed it but there were too much talking and not enough action scenes and I even skimmed reading it when I was about to reach the end of the book because it was boring but I still managed to understand the ending and this was the only thing that made me give this book 3 stars and well maybe there was also a little bit extra star because I liked Millard but I don't think I'll read the sequel because I just don't really care about this story anymore.
thank you guys for reading and liking this review. I hope you all have a great day! *hugs*

The Characters
Sofia Sofia is an orphan and(view spoiler)[her father died because of Roderic LaRoux (hide spoiler)] and now all she wants is to kill him because he took everything she loved. at the beginning of the story I liked her but she got a little bit annoying at the middle of the book.
Gideon Gideon is a hacker and he wants to destroy LRI. (view spoiler)[ he wants to destroy LRI because his brother was killed because of Roderic LaRoux (hide spoiler)] he's really funny and he made me laugh so much, I liked him at the beggining of the story but he disappointed me because all he cared about was only how to save her (she's not Sofia.). (view spoiler)[I know his brother, Simon loved Lilac before and he wanted to save her because he thought his brother would've done it too but seriously you risked your life for Lilac and you kind of forgot your girl (hide spoiler)]
I was happy when all the 6 characters(Tarver, Lilac, Jubilee, Flynn, Gideon and Sofia) worked together to destroy LRI. but after I read the second and the third book, I felt Lilac was kind of annoying and seriously I didn't care whether she would be alive or not in this book, and all she did was crying and it frustrated me and she always needed Tarver to protect and comfort her all the time!! Jubilee's life and Sofia's life are harder than her life but they're not a crybaby!!! all I wanted her to do was STOP CRYING AND BE TOUGH!!! WAS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR!?!?!? [image]
Romance
I actually liked the romace because it's slow burning love and there're no love triangle in this book or in this series but when I reached chapter 20 I got confused because they didn't even trust each other but they kept kissing and kissing. I thought this book would be great because this is the last book of Starbound series but I wronged and I'm very very disappointed with this series. The second book, This Shattered World is better than the first and the third book.
this book disappointed me so much but I didn't completely hate it because I loved the second book and at least I could enjoy this book at the beggining. it always happens to me when I read books/series about Aliens, maybe books/series with aliens aren't my cup of tea...

this is the second book of Starbound series. This storry tells us about a girl ( Jubilee chase) and a guy ( Flynn Cormac). Who shouldn't have supposed to fall in love.
Jubilee is captain of forces sent to Avon to crush rebellious collonist, she doesn't have parents anymore because they both died when she was a kid. She's a fearless girl and she's an expert at fight
Flynn Cormac is a rebel, the one who made him like this is her sister's death. he had a sister but she was executed when he was a kid, and he becomes a rebel because the terraforming corporation is never fulfill their promises on Avon, they promised them a better life for their children and decades later he leads the rebellion but he's a different rebel, he is a wise guy he doesn't want a bloodshed. He wants to get what he wants through a peace way.
My Opinion about this book.
if you like the first book of Starbound series then I'm sure you're gonna love this book because when I finished reading These Broken Stars, I didn't want to read anything else except Tarver and Lilac but I really wanted to know the ending so badly so I decided to read the second book and this was what happened to me.
Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner are very very genius, this book is better than These Broken Stars. So, I want to say if you like the first book but you haven't read the second book because you're not ready to let Tarver and Lilac go, you really really should to calm yourself and read this book because you'll see Tarver and Lilac again but you might probably forget about him because of Jubilee and Flynn, because that's what happened to me.
I'm serious, you guys have to read this book because once you read it, you can't resist it anymore.
The Romance
Wow, I couldn't even describe it, all I can say is this is a slow burning love and the romance is really really sweet and you might probably will cry when you read this book because this book is so beautiful, so so beautiful.
(view spoiler)[ when I knew that McBride was the one who killed those people instead of Jubilee, I was very very angry and I really wished he died already, and I was really really happy when Jubilee shot him on his head. Yes, I was being so creepy but I couldn't help it I was really really happy because he deserved that after he killed Fergal, he's just 5 years old kid, how could he even possible to kill a 5 years old kid?!?! and I cried so much when the whisper took Flynn's body because I was afraid if he died.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves reading Sci-fi/ Fantasy series with slow burning love and there're no love triangle in this series. thanks for reading my review about this book!! <3 <3...more

My Opinion
this is my first NA book that I could finish, I was so excited to read this book because I have planned on read it since a few months ago and I love reading Science Fiction book too. The first day I read this book, I liked it very much. The actions scenes in this book were very good. but I got a little bit bored of reading it when I reached 80%. [image] I just couldn't wait to finish this book and read another book.
The Romance Ugh.. the romance was boring and flat. I don't know whether it's inta-love or slow burn romance because Renna has been in love with Finn/Hunter since she was a kid but then she argues with him a lot but still has a feeling for him. The romance in this book is annoying and unrealistic. maybe this is going to be a light spoiler. Finn and Renna get trapped in the enemy building and they are being locked up in a room together by Aliens and Finn is injured because he gets beaten by one of the aliens. guess what they do in the room?? you must be thinking that they're trying to get out of that room right?? But NO, THEY DON'T DO THAT. THEY KISS EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF TRYING TO GET OUT FROM THE ROOM!! and this was my expression [image] and I was like " really?!?! you both are kissing in this kind of situation?!?!" and that was not the only one that that made me angry. when I reached 70% or 80% of this book, Renna still thought to leave this mission and run away because she didn't want to get involved in this mission anymore, I swear I really wanted to punch her when I knew she wanted to run away. Will I read the second book ? [image] I would be crazy if I read the second book. I just don't want to read this series anymore.
Why did I give 3.7 stars if I didn't like this book ? I gave this book 3.7 stars just because the action scenes. The action scenes are very great and I liked the secondary characters too especially Kojima *winks*
