He does whatever he wants with no indication on it. Always so mysterious but has a heart as tender as a leaf. He’s so toxic and yet addicting and very very stubborn. Both of them actually. *SPOILER* Unfortunately, Jacks is ready to lower his walls for a second. So there’s nothing to be happy about. - Evangeline, as usual, gets on my nerves with her optimistic beliefs. I do get that she’s a dreamer, but damn girl just take the hint and pick. Jacks does cut to the chase but she hunts for love. Bad combo. - Chaos, a vampire that he’s not as cold as Jacks but is he as nice as Jacks? I like his story line and the Valors’ background.
Plot: This book started right where Once Upon a Broken Heart left off. Evangeline is writing a letter to herself, warning her not to trust jacks again. She goes on about even though he’s cute as banana, it doesn’t matter. THEN she writes *SPOILER* ”Remember that he was the one to poison Apollo so that he could frame you for murder in order to make a long lost prophecy come true-one that would turn you into a key capable of opening the Valory Arch. That is all he wants, to open the Valory Arch.” and I lost it. This is the most important label in Jacks and Evangeline’s love story; nothing to happen if not for the sake of fulfilling their tasks. The plot is just amazing. I am so in love with everything happening from the new characters to the hunt and the whole universe in between.
World-building The universe is still as interesting as it was in the first book with more secrets to discover about how powers work there and how the ancient times stories relate to Evangeline.
Romance: The romance ain’t working for me in this book. *SPOILERS* There are two scenes in which Jacks went for what we all wanted.
“I know, love. I’m going to take you somewhere safe.”
“I mean … it’s just one night,” he said softly. “In the morning you can forget it. You can go to pretending you don’t like me, and I can pretend I don’t care. But for tonight, let me pretend you’re mine.”
Overall, I think this was a good sequel. A solid one that I really enjoyed it. Enjoyed seeing the characters’ ups and downs, the history of the Valors, and the new villains in-making. However, I was left with so many questions about Apollo, the apple, Jacks’ true love and what’s the deal with Chaos. ...more

A world that is magical, enchanting, mysterious, dark and dangerous. But this time, we're in The Prince of Hearts' curse- the main male character-. The Prince of Hearts - Jacks- is nothing but the prince charming to whom you would give your all for a kiss even if it's your last. Evangeline Fox has stupidly made a deal with Jacks to fix her own broken heart. And as we all know, a heart in pain and decisions are a bad combo that shall lead to grave consquences if one messes with a Fate. However, Evangeline, as naive and too trusty as she is, couldn't be stopped and the story shall begin.
- Evangeline is desperate and broken yet she's so brave, forgiving, and very very hopeful. She's just a naive girl with a hopeless romantic personality, and well, she's quite delusional but would call herself hopeful! She has been surrounded by so many fairy tales that she just wants her life to be like it. Sometimes she acts without thinking that I'm always reminded she's 18. Other times, she goes full bravado chick on us that I do actually forget she's 18 xd. This combo doesn't set well for me. I always love when a character acts their age but develops with the experiences. However, in Evangeline's case, I felt she has some issues and she is not whom she always claims to be. I actually liked her selflessness and her acceptance of her BAD DECISION. But there's nothing much interesting to her character besides this. - Jacks on the other hand is such a vibe! His kiss is deadly. His heart doesn't beat, and most important he's heartbroken. He's so untrustworthy, charming, seductive, mysterious, cocky and toxic to the neck. His first interaction with Evangeline was so funny. I even felt embarrasment on her behalf. I didn't expect him to be so mean, he went full Regina George on her:
"Now, that was a pathetic speech." Two slow claps followed
Despite him being all those red flags above, he's so hot and perfect ...more

I never skimmed and that’s a first. - Thank god it’s not instalove because I’ve had my share of it. - - the characters were nice. Charlotte, who’s facing a lot in her life, learns how to pull it all together and take chances when needed to. Reed, I also liked him but I happened to have struggled understanding his character, motives, reasons and why he’s a douche. A cute douche tho. - The heat level is okay. Not too spicy and not without tension. A slow burn for sure. Overall, a nice read. Enjoyable. I enjoyed the banter, the talks, the tension, the stupid acts… etc ⭐⭐⭐,75...more
I find this book series to be as fabulous and delightful as it can be. - Avery, alone in a big house full of people she doesn’t know stuck together whiI find this book series to be as fabulous and delightful as it can be. - Avery, alone in a big house full of people she doesn’t know stuck together while a will is contested. A will that states that Avery inherits a fortune that can be estimated with over 50 billion dollars. I’d go nuts if I were her. - The plot is amazing. I craved a lot of big twists and I got them. Book ♯1,The Inheritance Games, definitely succeeds as a thrilling start, setting the scene for more chaos to come. Book ♯2, The Hawthorne Legacy, is exactly what I thought it to be. Full of reveals that filled and answers the gaps and the questions you may ask at the end of book ♯1. However, despite book ♯3, The Final Gambit, being enjoyable and a good way to show how smart you are at playing chess for a finale, but I’m pretty sure that this series would have being better as a duology. - The characters were perfection except for Avery who needed a bit of whippig Madea style. Avery is the heroine we follow. She’s strong, smart, independent and sometimes stupid. But she also has a vulnerability to her that makes her an intriguing character to follow. The Hawthorne Brothers were a fun group. They’re all quirky and have such a great depth to their characters. It was fun to see their characters to evolve. - The love triangle wasn’t at all noticeable for the romance wasn’t a huge focus but it adds to the suspense . You could just skip it if you hate love triangles. Read it if you’re into: family mysteries – riddles. ⭐⭐⭐⭐,75...more
