T I read the book Skeleton Creek (again) by Patrick Carman. I love this book and its one of my favorite book series ever. I would rate it 4.5 stars. This book is very fun to read. I love mystery books and the videos make it interesting and different. It lets you see what the characters and the setting actually look like. It gives you a great image to think of while you are reading the book. The book is definately for entertainment. The writing is very suspenceful for the most part and sometimes serious. A strength from this book would be the videos, they add a lot to the book. There aren't really any weaknesses that I can think of. I like how the author put multiple books in the series instead of one book. For me, this book series is a quick, fun read. I would reccomend it for anyone who doesn't like long books and likes mystery books. If you want to read something a little I would definately choose this book....more

It was very interesting all the new technology they had. They put in a lot of work and it looks very hard to keep the Kakapo alive. Most of the team gets on a plane and another plane, just to get to Codfish Island. Once they get there they set up all of their equipment. They immediately start working. They monitor all of the nests on the island and go to each one of them, every time the mother leaves. They check the baby and make sure everything is going well. They thought the Kakapo was extinct but they found some and they were all females! Then on another island, they found a male and started breeding them. Now there are 124 birds. It seems like a really difficult challenge but they are making progress....more

I thought it was very good and heres some reasons why. The author was very descriptive throughout the whole book which was very nice. This made me know what was happening, putting a great picture in my mind. The book starts off a little bit slow, but there isn't really a long beginning. The book gets right in to the main idea of the hurricane. There was a lot going on in the book and it was a little hard to understand everything. There was only a couple parts that were confusing. There was loads of action throughout the whole book which really made me stick with the book and want to keep reading. This book always had me guessing and I never could predict what would happen next. Overall it was a great book and I would reccomend it to anyone who likes books with some suspense and lots of action....more

All of the sixteen boys are outside in the rain one day for Morning Muster. The admiral was holding up his sword and all of the Slabhenge staff were standing in the same puddle as the admiral. Then lightning strikes and hits the admirals sword and all the adults die. The boys don't know what to do, so they take all the bodies and put them in the freezer. The boys, alone on an island with no supervision, decide to stay on the island and not tell the people from the mail or supply ships. The stay for a long time, but Sebastian takes over and demands for people to do things. Next, Colin, Johnathan's friend, runs away to the basement of Slabhenge with unlimited doors and hallways. Johnathan is sent by Sebastian to get Colin and bring him back. He finds Colin and they stay in one of the towers that they are in. Then the other boys find them and punish them. The mail runner, Patrick, comes and warns them of a huge storm, they don't listen to him. Then the hurricane comes and all the boys are forced to follow Johnathan, because he knows what to do. Thanks to the Librarian that he secretly has been getting books from. He tells them to get to the lighthouse above the admiral's room. The get up there and watch Slabhenge fall apart. They are still standing because they are on the only part of slabhenge built on stone. The book ends in the boys up in the lighthouse just after they turned on the light to signal for help, which I did not like. I wish they got rescued by someone....more

This book takes place in NYC, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Claudia, age 12, and Jamie, her brother, age 9. They run away from home and take the train to NYC where they sleep in different exhibits at the museum without getting caught by guards. Jamie, is a very smart with the little money they have, Claudia on the other hand seems like a big spender. One day while walking around the museum, a big crowd is standing around an item. What do Jamie and Claudia do? Well they go see what's going on. As they get closer they realize that this piece of art is a statue, a large, marble statue. They don’t know exactly what it is. When they decide not to buy the New York Times to see what it was, they steal it from a man the next morning. Turns out, the statue could have been crafted by the one and only Michaelangelo. They then track down the previous owner, Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. Once at her large, old house they ask about the statue. The siblings talk with her for a little bit then tells them to go through her mixed up files to see if she has the file of the statue. Does she have the file and sold the statue to the museum or was it not hers. I thought the book was alright, but I would recommend this book to younger kids. Specifically 4th-6th Graders. Although I am a big fan of mystery books this was not as good as the last book I read IQ: Independence Hall written by Roland Smith. I highly recommend that series for a good mystery novel....more
