It was fine. I can see why lots of people like this but for me it provides the bare minimum.
I didn’t read Riftborne or Duskborne beforehand, and I3⭐️

I didn’t read Riftborne or Duskborne beforehand, and I’m not sure they would have helped me understand the multi-realm structure? I didn’t have a clue where anyone was tbh ...more
The start was good, and I liked the back and forth between Lexi and Connor, the constant bickering. It was borderline t3.5⭐️
Didn’t hate, didn’t love.
The start was good, and I liked the back and forth between Lexi and Connor, the constant bickering. It was borderline toxic in parts and I’m all for that.
BUT, few things let this down.
The lack of grovel was shockingggg. What Connor did—while not the absolute worst—definitely warranted a full, on-your-knees apology, especially given that at one point I genuinely couldn’t see how they would ever reconcile. I get that time is a healer and all that, but they came back together far too quickly and everything seemed to be brushed under the rug. It didn’t feel like their issues were properly addressed, and as a result the ending felt rushed.
I also didn’t really know either of them by the end, I get lexi was all about her family and maybe wanted to get into counselling or whatever but that was it? Not much else going on. Didn’t know a single thing about Connor about from his illness which was anticlimactic. Also wasn’t properly explained how Lexi knew Deano and originally got into that mess and what she’d done for him up until stealing Connor’s car.
16 year old me probably would have loved this and tolerated what consistently kept annoying 31 year old me throughouDNF 51%. Clary is a twat. The end.
16 year old me probably would have loved this and tolerated what consistently kept annoying 31 year old me throughout.
The start was promising, the world seemed interesting and the plot wasn’t bad. But it became purely plot driven, I stopped caring about any of the characters, they were all so god damn annoying!! This is YA but the characters read young, making hasty decisions with no thought process behind them and talking to each other like they’re 12.
Annoyed I paid £10 for an ebook adaption of the Tinder Swindler gone wrong lol but we move.
The first 402⭐️ for Ash and Jane, who had some substance.

The first 40% was okaaaaaay, but it was pretty dry from that point, I skim read. It was doing too much, too many POVS, characters and stories. Also didnt read like a thriller? There was no tension, no suspense and so much missed potential, especially with scenes between Ash and Nick.
Nick was just a spoilt bellend tbh, his backstory was flimsy.
3⭐️ probably generous as I skim read quite a lot of this towards the end.
Amnesia trope isn’t for me anyway I don’t think but I didn’t like how for th3⭐️ probably generous as I skim read quite a lot of this towards the end.
Amnesia trope isn’t for me anyway I don’t think but I didn’t like how for the most part, it felt like this book was ‘catching up’, we’re waiting for Lucy to remember what happened. We missed out on the majority of the relationship development because she can’t bloody remember, which I get is the point but I didn’t massively root for either of them or their relationship as a result.
The story had a lot of potential but the amnesia side of it ruined things for me. ...more
The first half slapped, the second half was pants, the ending left me scratching my head because wtf. And not because this was reptile porn. Tha3.75⭐️
The first half slapped, the second half was pants, the ending left me scratching my head because wtf. And not because this was reptile porn. That part I liked, because I’m far from normal.
What in the chamber of secrets even was this tho lol I couldn’t put the first 50% down, the drama, the whole situation had me by the throat. But the second half got COMPLETELY out of hand. By the time I questioned my sanity, I was in too deep. Had to see it out. Like a snake in a basket, I was summoned to the end (pun well intended) ...more

1. Blake was a wasteman and dumb as shite 2. It was painfully obvious what was going on and who the bad guy was from the start 3. Characters didn’t behave/act/speak naturally, it was weird and forced. Blake gets fired from his job at the start and it legit went like this:
The boss: I know you stole from the company Blake: no I didn’t The boss: yeah you did. Now get out ***Blake exits***

This book was a good time, it pulled me out of a slump and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I couldn’t recommend it enough as a pallet cleanser, Tier3.5⭐️
This book was a good time, it pulled me out of a slump and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I couldn’t recommend it enough as a pallet cleanser, Tierney did such a good job! I know just how hard she worked on this and I hope she’s as proud of herself as I am of her ❤️
Lots I liked and lots I wanted more of!
What I liked:
— The writing didn’t make me want to throw myself down the stairs, it flowed well and is admirable for a debut. The character descriptions didn’t feel too heavy or clunky, I know some people won’t like that but the detail was just right for me. — British rep was decent, we wear trainers and joggers, we say mate and bloody. Tierney did her research and clearly has a British heart ...more
