I loved this book! I loved the emotion. I loved the characters. I loved writing style. I loved the ending. Except...
Spoilers Ahead--Precede With Caution
One aspect of this book felt unrealistic. She gets raped at the end of her eighth grade year. This is what drives the plot and I'm okay with that. But the one thing I didn't like was that she seemed instantly cured at the end of the book despite never seeing a therapist. She started making friends, she was doing better in her classes, she stopped cutting. So I think the book was on a track of pure emotions and grit until the last twenty pages took a detour. And although this seems hypocritical, I still enjoyed the ending--or rather the events at the end. I just didn't enjoy the emotions at the end. I don't really know how to say this. But, it was only twenty pages out of a 200-page book. Therefore, I am confident this book still deserves a solid 4 stars.
