This is probably the best analysis that I have read to date on the ramifications of the Trump presidency. It is a thoughtful and well researched book by two Harvard political scientists; one an expert in Latin American politics and the other an expert on Europe. The authors develop a compelling schema of authoritarian behavior and use examples from recent history to demonstrate the process by which leaders with authoritarian tendencies have undermined democracy. They then use this schema and context to analyze the current situation in the United States. How Democracies Die is a compelling and sobering read, as well as a clarion call to Americans to work to save our democracy. I highly recommend it.
