The Hate U Give (The Hate U Give, #1)

The book named “The Hate U Give” is little bit difficult to read for me. Because it is too long to read fast and easily. Also, in some scenes, I can understand some terms or some circumstances only if I know about them.
First, I was really surprised about that kinds of incidents. For example, some gangsters shot her friend, Natasha. And her friend, Khalil, was shot by the white police, and also racists remarks and so on. It was hard to me to understand some dangerous incidents related to their skin color still happen even if we are in 21st century. The hardest thing to believe is about that night when Khalil was shot by the police. For me, the polices are really thankful people because they round criminals up, so they help people live safely. But, in this book, there are some racist polices. So, they use the excessive force to the black. I already understand the polices in Korea and the polices in America are different, but still, I think that was too much.
Second, I think that open mind is necessary in our country. I think most Koreans are conservative compared to USA. I envy American’s open mind. In Korea, if teenagers want to do something that they will experience when they grow up, some adults disagree and give them a lecture. In contrast, in USA, of course there will be something that they cannot allow, but social perception or atmosphere is different from Korea.
Third, there are some conflicts and arguments with Starr, Maya and Hailey even if they are friends in the same school. I think the reason or process of fighting has been well described. It is So realistic. Also, this book shows a relationship with friends very well.
I realized that incidents because of the discrimination still exist in some countries even if most people claim equal rights. So, I’m shocked. Also, during reading this book, I am sometimes irritated and sometimes feel very cool. I think that’s one of the joys of reading this book.
