Read 2 times. Last read December 6, 2018.
It's been years since I read Hex Hall for the first time and for some reason I got a strong feeling that I need to re-read this one. After six years.
So, here I'm and this time in English.
The main character is 16 which is a little younger than books I usually read right now. But honestly? I did not care at all! Sophie is so damn hilarious. I love that girl! (view spoiler)
I thankfully did not remember much about the book, except for the fact that I'm Team Archer! Yay! Nothing changed here.
I was pleasantly surprised, how much I've laughed. Really liked this one.

Quotes MischaS_ Liked
“I heard the man and woman cry a warning as I frantically racked my brain for some sort of throat-repairing spell, which I was clearly about to need. Of course the only words that I actually managed to yell at the werewolf as he ran at me were, 'BAD DOG!'
Then, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a flash of blue light on my left. Suddenly, the werewolf seemed to smack into an invisible wall just inches in front of me....
"You know," someone said off to my left, "I usually find a blocking spell to be a lot more effective than yelling 'Bad dog,' but maybe that's just me.”

“Let's just say you may regret that second piece of cake.'
Oh my God. Regret cake? Whatever was about to happen must be truly evil.”

“Sophia Mercer," Elodie intoned, "we have come to induct you into our sisterhood. Say the five words to begin the ritual."
I blinked at her. "Are you freaking kidding me?"
Anna gave an exasperated sigh. "No, the five words are 'I accept you offer, sisters.”

“Both of us widened our eyes and said, "Woah."
Then I immediately blushed. Oh my God, had I just looked at Archer and said, "Whoa"?
But...wait a minute. Had Archer just looked at me and said "Whoa"?”

Joan wrote: "Great review Mischa! I’ve thought about reading this one before....I’ll have the check it out. :)"Thank you so much. I read it for a first time six years ago and went for a re-reading now. And I was surprised that I still enjoyed it. It's probably because Sophie is absolutely hilarious. I laughed so much that my mum thought I went mad.
Hopefully, you'll like it as well.
Hi! I just stumbled upon this review. I loved this book/trilogy when I first read it. Now, 7-ish years later I wanna re-read it, but I really don't wanna ruin my experience with it by having outgrown them. I read them in my native language back then. Do you think I should give it a go? Maybe in English?

First time I read it in Czech and second time in English.
And I was a bit worried if I'll still like it and I did! Sophie is just so much fun, I'm still obsessing over Archer, and their banter is just hilarious.
I remembered the first book pretty well, and I still enjoyed reading it. I did not remember much from the second and third book, so, it was easy to read; it felt almost like a new book.
SO, I would probably recommend a re-reading to you, but it's a very easy read, so maybe keep it when you want just to relax, laugh a bit. The characters are certainly younger than what I usually read these days. Sometimes with these books, I realise how stupid the main characters are/were but thankfully not with this one. Sophie is young, crazy and has zero self-preservation, but her humour carries the story over even in moments when you just want to scream at her.
"BAD DOG!"
¨
Btw, I would just recommend staying away from the School Sprits since it starts new story arch but has no continuation.

I'm definitely going to check out the English version now. Thank you so much. I'm really excited to get into it again!!
