This is my favourite book series ever and i haven't read anything from this world for 4 years and it was good to see Day and June again.
Plot: This little novella story takes place 3 years before the events of the main series and we see June and Day in a totally different light. It was really good to see these characters in a different situation then what it was like in the main series, all the moments from the book came flooding back to me once i started this one.
June: June is just starting her time at Drake after being given a scholarship to the university and becoming the youngest student. One thing that i loved from this series is how different June was to what she was portrayed to everyone else, She was smart, witty and a lot of the time got on peoples bad sides with how she acted in different situations.
I loved the bond that her and her brother share because it's so strong and one of the first sibling relationships that i read that were this strong. My favourite thing Metias tells June is that she will shake up the republic one day and its like he was foreshadowing the events to come it made my heart jump. Knowing the events of the series that take place for June it makes my heart ace because of all the things this girl goes through.
Day: Day is recounting the day he was kissed and he also is feeling the sadness of being away from his family. One thing that i've always loved about Day is how much he really loves his family and it was good to see him still like that in this novella.
Day is still the sarcastic and funny kid we meet in the main series and i truly love seeing the characters before things happen because it gives a good glimpse into what they are like.
The things that make you special will give you all kinds of advantages in life, but they will also hold you back and expose your weaknesses.
Since i've finished reading this i want to dive back and read this series over again because i have truly missed these characters a lot.
