I loved the story of this hardworking family who did everything they could to survive and try to give their children and grandchildren a better life. Although it was a wonderful read, it had an added bonus; for me it was an eye opener to a part of history and a culture I know very little about. Now I want to know all I can about the history of Korea, the language, the people and the culture. If you're someone who already knows much the history of Korea, I think this would be a great book to add to a collection. If you're a fan of hysterical fiction and want to learn about another culture than your own, this book is a great start.
