really liked it
bookshelves: philosophy

Seneca embodied his Stoicism to the end, although I cannot help but think in his wealthy lifestyle that he is at the same time hypocritical. How much of what he said do we know he really embodied? Stoicism is a philosophy that inevitably detaches you from emotion since it is all about acceptance. It is rather unfortunate how modernity has rebranded Stoicism into something that just sounds pretentious above anything else. Still, I like Seneca and especially Marcus Aurelius.

The Penguin Classics edition was somewhat disappointing since it does not contain all correspondences, nor other works that could have been thrown in as well.
