Il dilemma di Drizzt (Trilogia degli Elfi Scuri, #1)

Questo primo romanzo dedicato all'elfo scuro Drizzt do'Urden scritto nel 1990 è un buon punto di partenza per giovani lettori in cerca di avventura nelle terre del Faerun, ambientazione storica dei Forgotten Realms per Dungeons & Dragons.
Sotto la superficie c'è l'Underdark.
Un mondo sotterraneo che cela infiniti orrori.
Nella buia e terrificante città di Menzoberranzan la dea Ragno Lolth viene venerata dal popolo degli Elfi Scuri.
Le matrone e le sacerdotesse di Lolth scandiscono i ritmi delle lotte di potere tra le casate nobiliari al suono delle loro fruste intrise del sangue dei loro stessi fratelli.
Tra di loro nasce Drizzt, diverso, temuto e scacciato.
Un'ambientazione suggestiva e originale popolata da personaggi un po' stereotipati. Poco importa.
Sono letture fatte ormai molti anni fa e tra i tredici romanzi letti sul personaggio di Drizzt mi sento di concedere le quattro stelle almeno a questo romanzo, forse il migliore del lotto.
Una storia di coraggio e grande forza interiore, una lotta disperata per spezzare le catene della tradizione e trovare la volontà di voltare le spalle ad una società corrotta.
Una lettura piacevole che appassiona, di puro intrattenimento che non pretende null'altro che divertire raccontando una bella storia.

An underground world that hides infinite horrors.
In the dark and terrifying city of Menzoberranzan the Spider goddess Lolth is worshiped by the people of the Dark Elves.
The matrons and priestesses of Lolth mark the rhythms of the power struggles between the noble houses to the sound of their whips soaked in the blood of their own brothers.
Drizzt is born among them, different, feared and expelled.
An evocative and original setting populated by somewhat stereotyped characters. It matters little.
These are readings made many years ago now and among the thirteen novels I have read on the character of Drizzt I feel like giving four stars at least to this novel, perhaps the best of the lot.
A story of courage and great inner strength, a desperate struggle to break the chains of tradition and find the will to turn away from a corrupt society.
A pleasant and passionate read, pure entertainment that claims nothing more than to entertain by telling a good story.
