द लास्ट डॉन / The LAST DON (Marathi Edition)

Much admired by William Burroughs, this crime thriller is far better than THE GODFATHER or anything else Mario Puzo ever wrote. (But not the last. That would be the posthumously published and justly forgotten OMERTA.) Puzo pursues his "it's not personal, only business" philosophy in telling the tale of two cousins from the same crime family who battle each other from Hollywood to Las Vegas; one in search of vengeance for a deed committed decades earlier by the family Don (trust me, it's both horrific and brilliant) and the other to stop him while building his own mini-empire of crime. The title character watches all this more with bemusement than fear. A true page-turner that you may want to read at one sitting.
