I really enjoyed becoming aware of this fascinating African American woman who was the personal librarian for J. P. Morgan who had a career that most people who have the same background as she does still to this very day do not have. This book discusses how hard it was for Belle to pass as a white person and although I had read the book Passing by Nella Larson in a Critical Writing class in college, reading about Belle during this moment in time brought it to life. I very much enjoyed reading this book because I was in a library media specialist program at the same school where I had my Critical Writing class until my program didn’t allow me to minor in it because I am disabled and so ended my career as a librarian. However, this book brought fond memories of the library program back to me. I love the fact that these two authors wrote this book together and became as close as sisters. I hope more people read this book and discover this fascinating woman.

Such a personal review,Nora! Thank you so much for sharing! I'm so sorry that your program wouldn't let you allow you to minor in it to become a librarian!! I'm disabled too and I work at a farm,so you should have been able to be a librarian! Your outlook is great and I am glad that you enjoyed this book & it brought back fond memories for you!!! Love the 5 shiny stars rating ✨✨✨✨✨😁
