okay, now that i've read it in one day i can reread to let this entire story really sink in.
it didn't hit me until the heartfelt last chapter how perfectly timed this story is and what it's about in relation to my life. my grandmother died last year & now the family has decided to just sell our cottage - my happy place. i wish we could get one last week up there, together. i can understand sabrina's desperation to cling to normalcy, the comfy nostalgia of summers past combined with the sinking uncertainty nothing can ever stay the same and there's nothing you can do to manipulate it.
wow, sorry, didn't mean for this to become my diary. but somehow it's TRUE and RELATES TO THE STORY, so BACK OFF.
this book has everything i love about EH: the fun banter, interesting, wonderful, messy, real, and imperfect characters, a fun, summery setting, extremely heartfelt, witty declarations, sometimes tough love conversations, death, hard stuff, doing hard shit, doing what makes you happy. REAL LIFE SHIT. somehow she can write vulnerability in a way that just makes you feel seen.
i love harriet & wynn. i just love this book and will try not to sob after coming to realizations previously mentioned. because now that i've read this, i can go back and absorb it.
