it was ok

Love sci-fi , did not enjoy this.

Spoilers…
Didn’t like the objectification of a girl younger than my own daughter especially in such a lackadaisical manner.
There entire goal of the cult felt confusing to me, and sitting through the religious dialog between the AI research butler and the protagonist felt insufferable.
Then the explanation was foisted on us through tedious dialog toward the end when several forces join together.
Hiro’s girlfriend is magically immune to the mind control that affects everyone else, how convenient.
His dad just so happened to be the arch enemy of Raven’s dad? Really?
People are racing at 60 thousand mph?
What about the dude who invented the metaverse?
And the 15yo just goes back home to her mom, who was compromised by the religious cult? It’s safe to just go home and pretend nothing happened?
It started out cool and devolved into “what the heck is going on here.”
Oh and the audio entries to each chapter were fantastically irritating.
