it was amazing

Aubrey McCory loses her husband, Matt, in a tragic accident, shortly before their son is born. Eight years later she begins to see the ghost of Matt, just as she meets Gavin, who reminds her so much of her late husband. The two are clearly connected, but how, and to what degree?
All of Rosary McQuestion’s characters are multi-layered and believable. Some are so well drawn they are almost recognizable even in my world. I particularly liked the central character, Aubrey McCory. She’s beautiful, intelligent; a successful lawyer. She’s also scatterbrained, insecure, vulnerable; a little lonely. She lines up food cans in her kitchen cupboard like little soldiers, and counts chocolates on the pillows of hotel rooms.
Some of the author’s asides and observations are so witty and to the point that I laughed out loud a couple of times, and for a grizzled old Highlander who has read more books than he cares to remember, that is really saying something.
This is a book that is fun, likeable, intriguing and ultimately quite thought-provoking. It is also a delight to those of us with a fondness for cinnamon! If you want to know why, well you’ll just have to buy your own copy of Once Upon Another Time. Believe me, it will be money well spent.
